What to do if you get the error “The license agreement could not be found. Error: "The installer could not create a new or find an existing system partition The installer could not start windows 10

Most of the errors that you encounter during the Windows installation process are quite typical, but there are quite unusual ones among them that can confuse even an experienced user. You start the installation, but before the files start copying, the process is suddenly interrupted, and the wizard gives an error "Couldn't find license agreement. Check that the installation source is correct and restart the installation".

This rare error can occur when Windows installation both on the virtual machine and on "iron".

Attempts to start the installation again do not lead to anything, the error repeats over and over again. There may be several reasons for such a strange problem, including licensing in no way related. When installing Windows on a hypervisor Hyper-V The error can occur if insufficient RAM is allocated to the virtual machine.

For normal operation Windows 8.1 And 10 on a virtual or quite real computer must have at least 1 GB RAM, otherwise the installation will crash to BSOD or, which is much less common, an error. Alternatively, if the disk is already partitioned, just before starting the installation, you can try creating a swap file on the system partition. To do this, in the installer wizard window, press Shift + F10 and run the command wpeutil createpagefile /path=D:\pf.sys .

When installing the system on "iron" The error described above can occur if the Windows distribution is corrupted. Check the checksums of the image used, if they match the original, overwrite it on media, or even better, use another installation image or disk. If installing from optical media, check the fit DVD-disk in the drive, it is possible that it is not located quite correctly, because of which the laser could not read part of the data.

Finally, the error can be caused by a mismatch between the revision and the system key specified in the product ID file pid.txt. The problem is solved in this case as follows. Create in Notepad text file and paste these two lines into it:

OEM

Save the file as ei.cfg and put it in the directory sources on installation flash drive, if this ISO-image, add the created file to the distribution by repacking the image with UltraISO or similar program.

And often incomprehensible to a novice user - a message that “We were unable to create a new one or find existing partition. additional information see the installer log files." (Or We couldn’t create a new partition or locate an existing one in English versions systems). Most often, the error appears when installing the system on new disk(HDD or SSD) or after preliminary action on formatting, converting between GPT and MBR and changing the structure of partitions on a disk.

This instruction contains information about why such an error occurs, and, of course, about ways to fix it in various situations: when there is no important data on the system partition or disk, or in cases where such data exists and needs to be saved. Similar errors when installing the OS and how to solve them (which, among other things, may appear after some methods suggested on the Internet to fix the problem described here): , (in contexts other than GPT and MBR).

The first way to fix the problem involves one of two options:

  1. There is no important data on the disk on which you plan to install Windows 10 and everything must be deleted (or has already been deleted).
  2. There is more than one partition on the disk and the first one does not contain important data that needs to be saved, while the partition is large enough to install the system.

In these situations, the solution is very simple (the data from the first partition will be deleted):

As you can see, everything is quite simple and any actions on the command line with using diskpart(deleting partitions or cleaning the disk with the clean command) is not required in most cases. Attention: the installer needs to create system partitions on disk 0, not 1, and so on.

In conclusion - a video instruction for fixing an error during installation in the manner described above, and then - additional methods for solving the problem.

How to fix "Could not create a new or find an existing partition" when installing Windows 10 on a disc with important data

The second common situation is that Windows 10 is installed on a disk that previously served to store data, while, most likely, as described in the previous solution, it contains only one partition, but the data on it should not be affected.

In this case, our task is to shrink the partition and free up disk space so that system partitions are created there. operating system.

This can be done both using the Windows 10 setup program and in third-party free programs to work with disk partitions, and in this case the second method, if possible, will be preferable (it is explained below why).

Freeing up space for system partitions using diskpart in the installer

This method is good in that to use it, we do not need anything additional, in addition to already running program installing Windows 10. The disadvantage of the method is that after installation we will get a not quite usual partition structure on the disk, when the bootloader is located on the partition with the system, and additional hidden system partitions are at the end of the disk, and not at its beginning, as is usually the case (in this case, everything will work, but in the future, for example, if there are problems with the bootloader, some standard ways solutions to problems may not work as expected).

In this scenario, the necessary actions will be the following:

  1. While in Windows 10 Setup, press Shift+F10 (or Shift+Fn+F10 on some laptops).
  2. A command prompt will open, use the following commands in order
  3. diskpart
  4. list volume
  5. select volume N(where N is the number of the only volume on the hard disk or the last partition on it, if there are several, the number is taken from the result of the previous command. Important: it should have about 700 MB of free space).
  6. shrink desired=700 minimum=700(I have 1024 in the screenshot, because I was not sure how much space I really needed. 700 MB is enough, as it turned out).
  7. exit

After that, close the command prompt, and in the window for selecting a partition for installation, click "Update". Select a partition to install (not unallocated space) and click Next. This will continue the installation of Windows 10, and the unallocated space will be used to create system partitions.

Using Minitool Partition Wizard Bootable to free up space for system partitions

To make room for system Windows partitions 10 (at the same time, not at the end, but at the beginning of the disk) and not to lose important data, in fact, any boot software for working with the partition structure on the disk will do. In my example it would be free utility Minitool Partition Wizard available as ISO image on the official website https://www.partitionwizard.com/partition-wizard-bootable-cd.html (Update: removed from the official website bootable ISO but it is in the web archive if you look at the specified page for previous years).

You can burn this ISO to disc or bootable flash drive(you can make a bootable USB flash drive using, select MBR or GPT for BIOS and UEFI, respectively, the file system is FAT32. For computers with EFI boot, and this is most likely your case, you can simply copy the entire contents of the ISO image to a USB flash drive with file system FAT32).

Then we boot from the created drive (secure boot must be disabled, see) and perform the following actions:

After applying the changes, restart your computer with Windows distribution 10 - this time the error that it was not possible to create a new or find an existing partition should not appear, and the installation will be successful (during installation, select a partition, not unallocated disk space).

I hope the instructions were able to help, and if suddenly something didn’t work out or you still have questions, ask in the comments, I will try to answer.

About a month ago, a friend brought a laptop with a broken operating system. I did not ask unnecessary questions about what exactly happened to the laptop, but it did not want to boot. Unfortunately I can't remember the error. Since she did not need the data on the hard drive, "and to be honest, there was nothing there except for the operating system," I connected the usb flash drive and proceeded to install the operating system.

Operating room installation Windows systems 7 passed in a calm and normal mode, but at the very last stage (at 100% installation) an error suddenly popped up: Windows Setup was unable to configure Windows to work with this computer's hardware (Sorry, I didn't take a photo)

I did not attach much importance to this error, and the computer rebooted. As it turned out a little later, Windows 7 refused to boot.

Once again I had to reinstall the system, but alas, just before the end, I get the same error "Windows Setup was unable to configure Windows to work with this computer's hardware".

First decision

During the installation of Windows, as soon as it popped up given error, do not click the "Continue" button. Press the key combination SHIFT + F10 on the keyboard. You will open a window with command line.

We need to go to the folder C:/Windows/System32/oobe/ and run the application msoobe.exe. To navigate between folders, use the command CD. Just follow all the steps as in the picture, and you will run Windows setup.

CD /
- cd Windows/System32/oobe/ (Use a backslash instead of /)
- msoobe.exe

We fill in the fields, and we can complete the installation of Windows in the usual way.

Second decision

At that time, I did not yet know that the error could be related to the BIOS settings, but not so long ago I just encountered a similar problem. Before Windows boot I have

Those users who independently downloaded the official installation image of the Windows 10 operating system are, of course, familiar with special utility Media Creation Tool. This is a proprietary tool from Microsoft designed to create bootable media to install and update the operating system. But sometimes you may have a problem when launching the Media Creation Tool. For example, the error "The installer failed to start correctly, please restart your computer." Or the application does not start at all. There may be several reasons for this phenomenon.

The most common reason is that the Media Creation Tool does not work due to the fact that your security system does not recognize it correctly and blocks any suspicious activity. Therefore, it’s worth starting with what to turn off antivirus program and firewall (firewall).

Checking the work of Media Creation Tool. Did not help? Go ahead. Next possible reason- Your account does not have enough rights to run the program. Try right-clicking on its icon and select "Run as Administrator" from the menu that appears. Alternatively, you can try creating another account. Windows entry with administrative rights and try to see if the utility will start now.

The next reason why the Media Creation Tool does not work is problems with local network. Try the following. Run a command prompt with Administrator rights. Then enter the following commands in turn: ipconfig/release Release the IP address if it is obtained from the DHCP server automatically.

Then: ipconfig /renew This will renew our IP address.

And finally, clear the DNS cache: ipconfig/flushdns

Now you need to check that there is access to the Internet and after that check the work of the Media Creation Tool.

Another way that sometimes also turns out to fix the problem when launching the Media Creation Tool is to clear the temporary files of the system. To do this, in the address bar Windows Explorer write the following address:% TEMP% Press the "Enter" key. A folder containing temporary files will open. software that is running or has been running on the system. It looks something like this:

Completely clear its contents and reboot. Well, if the Media Creation Tool does not work after that, then the only way out is to download the installation image and create boot disk on another computer, and then go to this one and reinstall the OS.

Windows Setup was unable to configure Windows to work with the hardware

When restoring the system to a new HDD drives Restoring the architecture and contents of the partitions is restored to the factory state. But at the moment - the beginning of the installation of Windows ( Windows preparation to the first run) the following occurs:

Installation of equipment -100%

MESSAGE:

I click OK, the computer restarts, the installation starts again ...

and everything stops again

C:\Windows\System32\oobe\msoobe.exe

When installing on a laptop, you must also press the FN key

A window should appear asking you to enter a name. account.

P.S. By the way, everything will work if your computer really supports Windows 7, although most likely it does.
