Correctly selected tags for a YouTube video guarantee its promotion in searches and attract new viewers to the channel. When adding keywords, you need to take into account a number of factors, use special services and conduct an independent analysis of queries. Let's take a closer look at this.

Selecting tags is the main and most important part of optimizing videos for further promotion on YouTube. Of course, no one forbids simply entering any words that are thematically related to the topic of the material, but this will not bring any results if the request is not popular among users. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to many factors. Conventionally, the selection of keywords can be divided into several steps. Next we will look at each in detail.

Step 1: Tag Generators

There are many popular services on the Internet that allow the user to select a large number of relevant queries and tags for one word. We recommend using several sites at once and comparing the popularity of words and the results shown. In addition, it is worth noting that each of them works according to a unique algorithm and additionally provides the user with various information on the relevance and popularity of queries.

Step 2: Keyword Planners

Google and Yandex have special services that display the number of requests per month through their search engines. Thanks to these statistics, you can select the most relevant tags for your topic and include them in your videos. Let's look at the work of these schedulers and start with Yandex:

Google's service works on approximately the same principle, but displays the number of impressions and queries in its search engine. You can find keywords in it as follows:

Choose the most suitable words and use them in your videos. However, it is worth understanding that this method displays query statistics for the search engine; on YouTube it may differ slightly, so you should not take into account only keyword planners.

Step 3: View other people's tags

Lastly, we recommend finding a few popular videos on the same topic as your content and researching the keywords in them. In this case, you should pay attention to the date the material was uploaded; it should be as fresh as possible. You can define tags in several ways - using the HTML code of the page, an online service, or a special browser extension. Read more about this process in our article.

Now all you have to do is optimize the list as much as possible, leaving only the most suitable and popular tags in it. In addition, please note that it is necessary to indicate only words that are appropriate to the topic, otherwise the video may be blocked by the site administration. Keep up to twenty words and phrases, and then write them in the appropriate line when adding new material.

Creating a high-quality video requires certain skills and a lot of effort. However, if the video is truly interesting and posted on YouTube, many users will view it, and you you can make good money on it. For manufacturers and distributors of goods and services, video advertising will also help increase demand, which will lead to an increase in the total turnover of the companies.

However, just knowledge in video processing and editing will not be enough, and you will not get the effect you expected. In order for a large circle of YouTube users to find and watch your video, you need to make a lot of effort so that as a result of the search, various search engines place your link in the top. There are many ways to do this, using which you will significantly increase your position in search engines.

There is a SPECIAL tool for YouTube, which helps to find trending queries from users of this service. Standard tools like Yandex Wordstat, etc. they won’t always help you find the words to use for creating new videos.

One of the coolest tools for finding keywords for videos is the Youtube Keyword Tool. It will help you find keywords used when searching on video hosting.

The Best Tool to Find Keywords on YouTube

Recently, the video hosting company's own keyword search tool has been disabled. Some functionality has moved to KMC. However, these tools are designed to provide keywords for advertisements.

They most often have a general purpose (in most cases, very far from the content of the video) and are not fully capable of satisfying your needs, because when searching for your information, links to advertising video streams will appear first.

When entering the first words to search for something, search engines have long introduced the display of possible options that are most often found, since this is very convenient for users and allows you to significantly reduce the time for selecting text.

The YouTube Keyword Tool uses technology to autocomplete the search bar when you enter certain words.

This allows you to find low-frequency phrases that will be as close as possible to the topic of the video. This service will be able to select hundreds of keywords and phrases (keywords) used in a particular topic, while providing the opportunity to select the region (country) in which your information will be most in demand and translate them.

Video promotion

For people who are closely associated with making money on YouTube, it is known that SEO optimization of links to videos should be carried out in the most thorough manner (although this applies not only to videos, but also to other resources that need to be promoted). The YouTube Keyword Tool will be your main assistant in resolving this issue.

Grow your YouTube channel wisely: Find out how to promote your YouTube channel and earn from $10,000 on it

It is not always clear what principle and algorithm the video hosting uses to search for the first phrases of a query, but we can say with confidence that the name of the video file, as well as the use of tags in the description, are incredibly important. With their help, the youtube search engine will distribute the video into a specific category and return it to users who are most interested in this topic.

Keyword Tool software will help you decide on the name that will be most suitable for the video, select the necessary key phrases and phrases so that your link is at the top of the list.

And this despite the fact that in search engines such as Google, links to your video will also be in the top search results.

In all popular search engines and services, the documentation states that tags (key phrases) help find your link.

In YouTube, you can enter a certain number of tags, which will significantly help optimize your channel and direct the target audience to your videos. Moreover, this can be done both for a long-downloaded video and a new one.

In order to optimize your video files as much as possible, there is no need to rush to write tags that, in your opinion, will be most suitable. It is best to use the service for youtube keyword tool. It will help you identify the most significant keywords that should be entered. Remember that they do not need to be entered in tens or hundreds! Not only will this not give any effect, but it will also lower your video even lower in the search engine results.

Keyword Tool will be an excellent assistant for you to promote and promote your video on the most popular video hosting in the world! If you complete all the necessary steps in the right order, you can make very good money from your own channel. At the same time, this program will help you select tags not only in your native language, but also in others, which will ensure that foreign users watch your own video.

How good are you at choosing keywords? How much search traffic do you have on your channel? I suggest you look at the exact numbers and find out how to increase them using the new tool.

Before getting acquainted with the new tool, let's look at the traffic statistics on your channel. To do this, go to the analytics section, then click on “Traffic Sources” and look at “Search on YouTube”:

Here we see how many views you get from YouTube; if the numbers don’t suit you, you need to generate search traffic. It is more important than that of “related videos”, since it is your target traffic, that is, selling queries for your channel. Therefore, our goal is to increase search traffic from YouTube. How to get more views on your videos? To do this, you need to optimize the video on the channel for popular queries on YouTube of many users.

YouTube: Keyword selection using Keyword Tool

I know that many of you use Wordstat to find keywords. But this tool has big disadvantages regarding queries for YouTube videos. Here we will see search queries strictly for Google and Yandex, and they are very different from what users enter on YouTube, don’t you agree? So, if you are looking for tags here to optimize your channel, you are very mistaken. I recommend the new Keywordtool, which recently appeared with a Russian interface.

This service is paid, one might say quite expensive and is designed for people who are professional YouTubers. But in the free version you will also find the necessary queries that will help you in video optimization. These are the ones you need to copy to your computer:

Since exact numbers are not available to us in the free version, let's figure out how to correctly select tags from the entire list that we received on Keywordtool.

When we query Wordstat, unfortunately, we get a lot of superfluous and unnecessary information. The list is built in such a way that we see highly competitive queries first, and it can be extremely difficult to find the necessary key here. In Keywordtool you will not find high-frequency queries; on the contrary, you will receive highly competitive queries, but at the same time popular right now. Your task is to choose from them the most relevant to the topic of your video. Therefore, select and insert only thematic tags, there is no need to fill all the spaces for tags with just something. First, insert the keys from Keywordtool, and fill the “free space” with other tags that best reveal the topic. Also, don’t forget about other optimization methods that you can find on my blog.

Keywords are the same tags, only on Youtube. It is enough to find 30-40 minutes of free time to cope with this task. Today I will try to expand on this topic and answer the following questions:

— Why do we need tags for YouTube?
— How to see other people's tags on YouTube?
— Where and how to find popular tags for YouTube?
— Keywords of the youtube channel. Where and what to write?

Before you learn how to select tags for YouTube, you need to know that there is a certain gradation between them.

On the topic of the article, I would like to recommend a website for channel promotion (paid and high-quality):

Tag classification

By popularity, tags for YouTube, like keywords for a website, can be divided into:

- high frequency,
- mid-frequency,
- low frequency.

It’s easy to guess that you can get the most views using the first tags from the list above. However, there is one caveat: sometimes, bringing a video with high-frequency key queries (tags) to the TOP can be very problematic, especially for a young channel.

For example, I’ll say that I own the channel Clear TV and use key queries in the following percentage ratio:

— 60% high-frequency;
— 25% mid-frequency;
— 15% low-frequency.

According to the place of use, tags for youtube can be divided into:

— tags for the channel;
— tags for playlists;
— tags for videos.

High-frequency tags will be for the channel (below I’ll tell you how and where to register them). For playlists, I advise you to use mid-frequency ones. For video... No, you didn’t guess :) For video we will use both high-frequency and mid-frequency tags (if absolutely necessary, low-frequency ones).

I hope I didn't confuse you. To show with an example, let's take a video with the title: how to download music from a new VK in 1 minute.

It’s not difficult to guess that the main tag is written in the title and it sounds like this: how to download music from a new VK.
The video was placed in a playlist with the main keyword: how to set up a new VKontakte.
One word will appear in the channel keywords: VKontakte or the phrase: VKontakte music.

Approximately according to this scheme, you can select tags for: specific videos, playlists and channels.

Why do you need tags for YouTube?

Channel tags signal to YouTube itself what information is on the channel.
Tags for playlists can give the user information that a person has not one video on his channel, but a whole series of videos on some topic.
Tags for videos on YouTube play the most important role and they help the user find the desired or most suitable video according to his request.

How to see other people's tags on YouTube?

Finding out the tags of a video, playlist or channel on YouTube is quite easy; just install the add-on in the Google Chrome browser: “Clever” for Youtube (the video below shows how to do this and how it works). I advise you to subscribe to the channel, there is a lot of useful information, including on Youtube.

Looking doesn’t mean... Well, you recognized someone’s tags, so what? Of course, some of them can be used in your video, but it’s far from a fact that this will be the optimal choice (even if you spied the tags of a TOP blogger). You can look at other people’s tags in a video or on a channel, but copying tags 100% will not guarantee that you will have the same number of views.

How do I select tags? I use Yandex Wordstat and sometimes (in 10 cases out of 100) I look at what my competitors have by tag. Essentially, this is the answer to the question: where and how to find popular tags for YouTube?

YouTube channel keywords. Where and what to write?

If I advise you to write phrases in video tags, then it is better to write tags for the channel with 1 word each. Tags should be written like this: “keyword”, “keyword 1″... How many tags can you write on a YouTube channel? 15-20 pieces are definitely possible and that’s quite enough. To finally fill this empty window, go to the “Creative Studio” of your channel, click on “Channel” on the left and go to the “Advanced” subsection. It is logical that our ready-made tags should be inserted next to the inscription “Channel Keywords”. Don’t forget to save after making your entries :)

How to view your channel tags?

We log in from Google Chrome as a guest to our channel (don’t forget that the add-on mentioned above must be installed) and see that everything is ok. I hope you already know how to add tags for videos and playlists? 🙂

We continue to consider the broad topic of such video hosting as YouTube. In today’s article, we gradually begin to approach such a broad concept as video optimization for YouTube. On the agenda for today's consideration - selection of keywords for YouTube videos.

Anyone who has not yet realized the need to work with YouTube, please read these articles.

I highlighted the selection of keywords in a separate post because it is at this stage that you need to seriously concentrate your attention. Keywords are the most important thing for video optimization. To rank your video at the very beginning, search engines do not “think” about its artistic component and its usefulness for users. This will happen later, when the views start flowing and feedback is turned on after views in the form of comments and likes.

In the meantime, at the initial stage, keywords are what interests search robots. Let's move on to them.

How to wisely use keyword selection for your YouTube video

This procedure consists of several stages, which we will consider below. The selection of keywords is carried out using the following services and methods:

  • YouTube keywords
  • Videos of competitors

1 way. Let's go to YouTube keywords tool. This service is designed directly for YouTube, and the results are taken from there. We indicate the language in which the search will be carried out (point 1), the country in which the search will be carried out (point 2) and the search phrase (point 3). Click Find Keywords.

Previously, it was possible to find keywords by the name or address of the video. This was very convenient for analyzing competitor videos. This option is currently temporarily unavailable.

We are looking for keywords for the phrase that is displayed in the screenshot. The search results are as follows:

We need to write down these words for ourselves somewhere, which we will use in the future. Go ahead.

Method 2. Google AdWords Keyword Planner service.

YouTube is part of the Google corporation and therefore we use the same service to search for words as we use to search for words when optimizing the site. This is a service. To log in, you need a Google account.

Now we choose Find suggestions for keywords.

Fill out the form. We indicate by what word the keys will be selected (point 1) and by what parameters the selection will be made (location, language, search engine, search adjustment) (point 2). Click Get options.

Let's go to Keyword options. The service shows us the options found and the average number of requests per month. We choose medium and low levels of competition.

We select the necessary keys and use an arrow to move them to the list.

As a result, we came up with a list of keywords that can be used for our video. Also mark these words somewhere.

3 way. Finding clues in competitors' videos.

We take someone else’s video, which is similar to ours, and we want to study what words it is promoted by. Let's open it. In Mozilla Firefox and Chrome browsers, right-click and select Page source code(or CTRL+U).

On the page that opens, select Find (CTRL+F) from the menu and enter the word keyword in the search bar that appears. We will see the keywords for which this video is optimized.

With these simple steps we get all the ins and outs of a competitive video.

You can also use the Wordstat service from Yandex to select keys. We will also get some list of words. But I list them last, because I want to promote my video specifically on YouTube and, accordingly, keyword search services from Google are a priority. That is, when Google searches, it displays videos from YouTube, and Yandex displays videos from all video hosting sites. Therefore, priority is given to the keywords that we obtained from the first two methods discussed above.

We collect all the information received and all these keywords need to be written in the video itself. Usually up to 10 pieces are used. We will talk about how to do this correctly in the next article, which will discuss a detailed description of video optimization for its further promotion. Therefore, I recommend subscribing to blog updates.

That's all for today. We looked at 3 ways, how to select keywords to use in videos onYouTube. Do not neglect this important point, as this is a compelling argument in promoting your video on YouTube and Google. Thank you for your attention, see you soon!
