OnePlus 3T is more new version relative to the impressive OnePlus 3. Currently, this smartphone can afford to compete even with the Google Pixel.

OnePlus 3T smartphone - Reviews

OnePlus 3 best smartphone, released by OnePlus on this moment. Will the new model be able to compete with the original, and are all its innovations so good? You will learn about this in this review. Go!

Gorgeous minimalist design of OnePlus 3T

Put the OnePlus 3 next to the OnePlus 3T and it will be almost impossible to distinguish them from each other, at least in appearance. This is a fairly logical step, since there was no point in changing the design of the OnePlus 3, given that the previous one came out just six months ago. Plus, the original design was great in its own right.

The 3T changes the texture of the metal shell found on the OnePlus 2 from rough to smooth, and the overall design is more minimalist. The One Plus logo is embossed on the back of the device, and like the iPhone and HTC, the back cover has two darker colored lines at the top and bottom, and the camera lens is raised slightly above the body.

If you take the smartphone in your hands, you can see that its sides are slightly curved and completely smooth, thanks to this, the device fits perfectly in the palm. Considering the amount of time that phones spend in a person’s palm during the day, this is very important. After the OnePlus 3 debuted with high levels of quality and comfort, it took it to the next level with phones like the ZTE Axon 7 and Huawei Nova. The new OnePlus 3T may not quite live up to the ideas that underlie the formation of the Axon 7, but the 3T manages to come as close as possible to the latest generation phones.

It is worth noting that the phone is surprisingly compact. Samsung and LG have 5.1-inch and 5.3-inch screens respectively, as do others best phones this year. While the OnePlus 3 has a 5.5-inch screen, it's barely wider than the LG G5 and just a millimeter or so longer. In addition, the smartphone is thinner and weighs 158 grams, which is almost the same weight as the G5 and S7.

Great screen and fingerprint sensor

The OnePlus 3T screen is covered with 2.5D Gorilla Glass 4 protective glass, which has a curved shape, it beautifully completes the modern design. There is only a fingerprint sensor, which also acts as a Home button. A two-stage switch allows you to selectively mute alerts based on their importance. This saves time, and the switch itself has a new and unique look. Its placement in the upper left corner is a little unusual, but only for right-handers.

The fingerprint sensor works with amazing speed, in addition, the device has NFC, so the smartphone supports Android Pay. Even if payments using a mobile phone do not work, it is unlikely that this will be due to 3T problems, but rather to errors in the application itself.

OnePlus 3T received a 5.5-inch optical AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. What does optical AMOLED mean? OnePlus CEO Carl Pei said that the company supplies him Samsung screens, are equipped with a double polarizing layer, which is tuned to transmit improved color gamut and contrast. On the OnePlus 3 it was always a problem to adjust the screen using basic controls, but that changed on the 3T. The picture here looks amazing, which was difficult to achieve on the OnePlus 3. If standard settings do not fit, you can always use a custom setting from warm to cool tones.

Performance on par with reactive

The main change to the OnePlus 3T is the replacement of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with the new and more powerful Snapdragon 821. RAM remains unchanged at 6GB, and while there are a few other changes, the processor change is undoubtedly the main reason why the 3T costs more.

It's time to turn to comparative tests. Putting the 3T against the OnePlus 3 is probably the easiest way to find any differences. AnTuTu 3D on OnePlus 3 showed 44.131 points, and the same test on OnePlus 3T turns into 166.912 points. Both worked in the same environment, without third party applications, on the latest version of the most modern public release of the OxygenOS shell.

That's a big difference, and it crushes almost any other smartphone. Such high performance are also present in other test programs. Geekbench 4 showed 4.133 on the OnePlus 3 and 4.390 on the 3T, and the 3DMark gaming test showed the OnePlus 3 scoring 2.561 while the 3T scored 2.700.

There are some other changes that won't be immediately noticeable, but provide noticeable benefits to the new device. For example, 3T does not heat up if it is under load, unlike the 3rd version, and it also has an increased battery capacity of 3,400 mAh.

OnePlus 3T camera and software

OnePlus 3T still has the same 16-megapixel camera as its predecessor. It has an F/2.0 aperture, optical image stabilization, HDR, and a 1.28-inch sensor. However, OnePlus has debugged the software. Pictures produced by 3T are more natural and pleasing to the eye.

When taking close-up photos, blurring the background looks very nice. With HDR enabled, shadowed areas were lit fairly well without sacrificing detail. Low light conditions reveal a lot of detail, although it's not quite like the iPhone 7 Plus, you won't be disappointed.

Coming to the front camera, the OnePlus 3T has a 16-megapixel selfie camera. The powerful sensor is installed not so much for selfie lovers, but for live streamers who require high image clarity. And even in low light conditions, it works well. The front camera has a simple beauty mode and functions where the sensor should detect smiles and activate the shutter.

Swipe right on the sensor in camera mode and you'll be able to access a manual settings mode where ISO, focus, shutter speed and brightness can be adjusted to suit your needs. The camera software is fast and efficient.

Software and updates

The OnePlus 3T runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS on the OxygenOS UI, which slightly changes operating system from the one Google offers it. It's not a drastic change, and it's closer to how Motorola deals with Android than the heavy interface from Huawei or Samsung. Android update to version 7.0 is expected by the end of 2016, our model came with Android update dated November 2016.

There are several modifications included in OxygenOS. Most notable is the Shelf feature, which allows you to open from the left home screen an interface where you can find links to frequently used apps, space for Android widgets, weather data and a place to write notes. If desired, you can either enable or disable this function.

OnePlus installs its own app gallery, file manager applications, a music player, a voice recorder, as well as a new Community application - it gives direct access to the company’s Internet forums. There are a lot of complaints and whining on the forums, most of which are isolated cases, but this allows you to find problems on the forum if a solution has not been found on the Internet.

Memory capacity and lack of MicroSD slot

Depending on which model you buy, you can get either 64 GB or 128 GB of internal memory, but unfortunately there is no MicroSD card slot for expanding memory. OnePlus decided not to follow fashion and did not add the new Dual-SIM tray feature, which has the ability to use one of the memory card slots, so the 3T is strictly a dual SIM device.

For this reason, we suggest choosing the 128GB version of the OnePlus 3T, which will allow the smartphone to last for several years, given its performance, before you need to replace it.

Battery life and fast charging on OnePlus 3T

Even though the OnePlus 3T has the same dimensions as the OnePlus 3, it is equipped with a larger 3,400 mAh battery that holds a charge for about a day with moderate-to-intensive use. You can increase the time battery life even more, using a function that turns off the display of data in background, as well as a vibration function.

The fast charging system works great, and OnePlus claims it will charge the battery to 60 percent capacity in just 30 minutes. Our tests showed this to be true, and we saw 60 percent at 31 minutes. A full charge was completed within an hour and 20 minutes. We achieved the same thing with OnePlus 3.

Warranty, price and availability

The much-hated invite system is now a thing of the past; you can buy the OnePlus 3T through the OnePlus online store right now. For the 64 GB model you will have to pay $440 (28,000 rubles), which is $40 more than the price for OnePlus 3.

OnePlus offers a good one-year warranty, defects will be repaired or a replacement device will be provided - free of charge, including shipping and handling costs. This does not cover wear and tear or water damage. Alternatively, OnePlus offers an extended warranty plan of one year, 18 months or two years, but this costs extra and is only available in the US, not China.

Is it worth buying OnePlus 3T?

The OnePlus 3T smartphone is quite powerful, it represents a combination high performance and style, allowing you to keep a significant portion of money in your pocket, unlike its competitors. One or two problems in software do appear sometimes - but we hope that they will be fixed in the near future. Moreover, they are not enough to cover all the advantages of this device.

OnePlus 3T is, in our opinion, a good and powerful smartphone, without any serious flaws. It's beautiful to look at, great to use, takes impressive pictures, and is technically capable of being a powerful, productive device for many years to come. And all this for a price of $440 (28,000 rubles). Tempting, isn't it?

Advantages

  • High speed work thanks to Snapdragon 821;
  • Impressive cameras;
  • Beautiful metal case;
  • Almost pure Android with regular updates;
  • Very fast battery charging.

Remember the times of flagships costing 30,000 rubles? So they haven't gone anywhere. And OnePlus 3 is living proof of this. A productive, high-quality, technologically advanced smartphone for reasonable money—that’s our hero in a nutshell. And for more details please ask OnePlus 3 review.

OnePlus is a series of extraordinary Chinese smartphones that creates a lot of noise in the mobile electronics market every year. This is because the device (now in its 3rd generation) offers not only maximum characteristics at the lowest price, but also technology and its own unique features. This happened this year with the release of 1+3. I can immediately say that the smartphone turned out to be much more interesting than its own. For my taste, 1+2 was somehow unconvincing and passable. Good hardware (at the time of release), good camera, but he clearly wasn’t cut out to be a flagship killer. With the new product everything is different.

Judging by the policies of this Chinese startup, a crusade for global domination is not an option for it. In more than three years of the company's existence, it cannot be said that it has grown much. As before, it cannot compete in the scale of its business with Xiaomi or Lenovo, not to mention other competitors represented by A-brands. And I can’t say definitively whether this is good or bad. For you and me, consumers, the main thing is that the product is good, that the quality does not suffer and that there is support. All this is here and thank God!

Equipment

OnePlus knows how to pleasantly surprise and does this already at the unboxing stage. The “velvet” surface of the box, extremely pleasant to the touch, gives the impression that a Hi-End quality product is hidden inside.

The first thing that catches your eye is the device itself. A simple protective film is already applied to the screen from the factory. It may not be scratched after three seconds, but fingerprints remain on it for the dear soul. It was immediately decided to get rid of her.

The back side also has its own films.

Inside, a USB Type-C cable and a Dash Charge power supply are neatly folded, which provides the device with unbridled agility while charging. Let's talk about this in the section on autonomy.

Headphones are not included and are not needed. If a user bought 1+3, most likely he belongs to the geek community. But these guys have no problems with having good, comfortable headphones, carefully chosen for themselves.

Among other things, the box contained a plastic box (very similar to a case) with a paper envelope on the back side. Inside there were all sorts of pieces of paper, a paperclip for removing SIM cards and stickers. Cool, fan-made “merch”.

Design

First impression - wow! Second - stop! He reminds me of something. It turns out that the device is very similar to the one presented last year. In the hand, it looks exactly the same: the same metal, thin, with sloping corners on the back and a protruding camera in the middle.

I still have one of these, so it is possible to evaluate the similarity of the two devices at once.

In any case, the smartphone turned out to be very pleasant. The assembly was completed with five plus marks. The quality of the materials is excellent.

The metal is pleasant to the touch, smooth, but also quite slippery. It’s easy to drop the device from your hands. In addition, the camera at the back, which protrudes strongly above the body, has a sharp rim, so it will either scratch itself or scratch the surface on which it lies. I would recommend buying case for OnePlus 3. Still, the thing is expensive and, unfortunately, slippery. It's better to put it all in a protective case.

Regarding the reliability of the case, the fingerprint scanner button, and so on, it’s worth watching the video below. I warn you, it is better not to watch for the faint of heart. On the other hand, you will be pleasantly surprised.

The device is quite thin and you can clearly feel it in your hand. In terms of other dimensions, it does not stand out in any way from its 5.5-inch counterparts on the market.

The tray for SIM cards (no space for Micro SD was provided) is hidden on the right side. Supports two Nano cards. Interestingly, there are plastic plugs there from the factory. Apparently, for those who have never seen what these same “nano SIM cards” look like.

All external organs are located at the lower end. There is a microphone (to the right of the Type C port), a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a multimedia speaker (to the left). Its location is not the best, because I am used to holding the smartphone in landscape orientation when the Home key is with right side. In this case, the palm “successfully” covers the speaker. You have to turn the device over.

The speaker quality is good. It is loud, there is no distortion or other criminal noise. If only they were!

The front panel is covered with protective glass Gorilla Glass 4. Of course, it is curved on the sides. The glass rests on a barely noticeable plastic side, which connects it to the metal body.

On the right top corner LED indicator is located. The sensors and front camera are in their proper places.

The display cannot be called frameless in the modern sense of the word (it is far from Nubia Z11), but the width of the frames is still minimal. This adds points to the phone's appearance. I did not notice any inconvenience in using this.

Under the display there is a Home key (touch, not pressed), and on the sides of it there are completely invisible touch buttons.

It is very difficult to recognize them both in daylight and at night, so you will have to get used to pressing blindly. The thing is that their backlight is very dim.

For a couple of seconds, two barely noticeable dots light up and that’s it. The time they glow cannot be adjusted.

The buttons can be reassigned to each other to your liking: swap places, assign an action when held, when pressed twice, and so on. I set the double tap to launch the camera (the same as on) - it’s very handy.

A nice bonus is the presence of a physical alert mode switch on the left side. It has three settings: all notifications, priority mode and absolute “silence”. All this can be customized from the menu.

I really liked the switch. He really belongs here, which couldn’t be said about . While using it, I constantly missed calls and notifications because at some point I discovered that I had accidentally touched the lever.

Fingerprint's scanner

The recognition speed is almost lightning fast! and in comparison with them, clumsy cows. The first one still hasn’t gotten enough sleep.

Those same 0.2 seconds that allegedly take to unlock every second Chinese smartphone, but in fact a marketing fake, here they are more real than ever. Touch it - it's done. Touch it - it's done. And so you can get stuck for a couple of minutes, which is what I did.

In general, the touch button coating is made of ceramic. It is impossible to scratch or push through it, as the video I shared above clearly proves.

Display

At first glance, you can see that you are dealing with an AMOLED panel. Firstly, the peculiar caustic color rendition, which is characteristic of AMOLED matrices, catches the eye. But it is worth paying tribute to Lately the panels have grown a lot: they retained high contrast, excellent reproduction of black, but at the same time, the “eye-watering” colors almost completely disappeared and became more or less similar to natural ones.

  • diagonal 5.5 inches
  • resolution 1920 x 1080 pixels
  • dot density 401 ppi

In general, here we have Optic AMOLED, that is, special attention was paid to color calibration. I don’t know how it really is, but the screen is simply excellent. Saturated, bright, beautiful, contrasting - everything is perfect with it.

Viewing angles are excellent. Even when tilted along the diagonal axis, nothing fades, and that same lilac fog that is characteristic of IPS matrices does not appear.

Regarding the screen temperature setting, there is only one modest bar. Pull the slider to the left - a bluish glow comes out, pull it to the right - a warmer one.

Personally, I'm glad to use Full HD resolution. And less processor resources are used and power consumption is lower, but the result is the same - the picture is smooth, there is no graininess. What else do you need?

CGG 4 glass has an excellent oleophobic coating. Fingerprints accumulate within reasonable limits and are easily removed.

Of course there is also night mode. There are no special settings for it. You can only set the intensity of the yellow glow and that’s it.

I liked several features that the manufacturer implemented here. In sleep mode, the screen may briefly light up in black and white when new notifications arrive. In the same way, you can light up the display if you move over it with a Jedi gesture. It works 9 out of 10 times, which is not bad.

Navigation on a smartphone is hassle-free. Satellites are caught a few seconds after launch. The only thing is that I couldn’t catch a single Chinese satellite, and they are found in our region. Maybe it's the wrong time of day?

Perhaps this is all you need to know about the characteristics of the smartphone.

A relatively inexpensive smartphone with an excellent appearance, a high-quality AMOLED screen and enviable gaming performance, it immediately found its fans. Six months later, OnePlus decided to release an updated model that will match the top models of its competitors. And here the company followed the path of Apple, which exploits the design of the devices and releases updated models with new hardware in the old case. Is it that good? The OnePlus 3t package is similar to that of the previous model. And this is rather good news, because here the company has something to boast about. The smartphone comes in a fairly massive box, where it is placed in a special plastic form. Under it you can find a kind of envelope made of thick cardboard with instructions for English language and a paperclip to remove the SIM tray. The 4 Amp power supply and USB Type-C cable are located under the envelope in special compartments. Traditionally for OnePlus, the DASH Charge fast charging cable is a rare example of how you can make a simple accessory of high quality and attractive in appearance.

Appearance, ergonomics, fingerprint scanner

The manufacturer clearly invested a lot of resources in creating the OnePlus 3 case, which ultimately received many flattering reviews from global IT publications. Therefore, it is not surprising that new flagship in fact it turned out to be just updated. The appearance of the OnePlus 3t cannot be praised for any special design delights, it just looks good and is extremely ergonomic. If this can be said about a device with a 5.5-inch screen.

The smartphone is an all-metal aluminum body with a large screen at the front. There are two thin plastic dividers on the back of the lid. They are painted in a darker tone compared to the body, but purely subjectively they do not spoil appearance smartphone. Due to the thin body, the fairly massive camera module protrudes considerably above back cover. If you are concerned that it may not survive a fall, you can get official cases from OnePlus - protective pads or a flip case. Both cost $20.

It’s nice that they didn’t skimp on aluminum in the smartphone body. The power button on the right side, the volume rocker and the sound mode switching slider are made of the same material. The buttons have excellent, clear travel, but the volume keys have minimal wobble in the case. Although in my iPhone 6 the situation is exactly the same, which does not interfere with everyday use.

The lower part is an example of what modern flagships should be like. Between the two screws on the sides of the bottom edge there is a fairly loud and clear-sounding multimedia speaker, a USB Type-C connector, a main microphone (the second for noise reduction right above the main camera on a plastic divider) and a 3.5 mm audio output.

The front of the OnePlus 3T is the same as its predecessor. Above the large display are a standard set of sensors, a speaker, a new 16-megapixel camera for this model, and a notification LED.

Below the screen is a touch-sensitive Home button with a built-in fingerprint sensor and two touch buttons with minimal backlighting on the sides. The fingerprint scanner itself has not undergone any changes, it is still the same fast in terms of recognition speed - unlocking the smartphone occurs simply instantly. In general, this location of the fingerprint scanner is considered the most convenient due to the fact that the smartphone does not need to be lifted from the table to unlock it.

Recently, developers of local Android applications have become more active and began to implement support for fingerprint scanners in their programs. For example, recently such a function appeared in the application of the Ukrainian PrivatBank, where it is very convenient to log in using a scanner.

The only difference between the OnePlus 3 and 3T cases is the color. Now the new flagship can be purchased either in dark gray, even almost brown, or in fashionable gold.

Having used all the current flagships, I can safely say that OnePlus 3T is one of the most convenient devices to use, with one “but”. Unlike Xiaomi smartphones and Meizu smartphone doesn't feel "Chinese" so to speak. There are no compromises, no deliberately shiny finish or any conspicuous body elements. This is a no-nonsense smartphone that I found just as enjoyable to use as, say, an iPhone. That same “but” is a very thin case with a rounded back cover, which fits perfectly in the hand, but sometimes tries to slip out. The solution is the same as in the case of a camera protruding above the body - purchasing an official case.

Display

Not surprisingly, the screen in the new OnePlus 3t is also no different from the previous model. This is still the same 5.5-inch AMOLED matrix with FullHD resolution. Yes, there is the notorious PenTile pixel arrangement, but with a pixel density of 401 PPI, this does not affect image quality in any way.

Traditionally for AMOLED matrices, highly oversaturated, almost unnatural colors are noticeable here, of which there are enough fans in the world. But if you are not like that, and besides, you want to properly edit photos from a smartphone, then the sRGB mode activation lever, which is located in the display settings, will be useful to you. With it, colors are as close as possible to those in IPS matrices.

The display brightness remained at the same level - from 2 to 383 cd/m2. In the sun, readability is normal, but in the dark, traditionally for AMOLED matrices, everything is fine. If you also activate, say, a black theme in the e-reader application, then, in my personal experience, my eyes will not get tired at all. Under the rays of a fairly bright spring sun, the brightness is not enough, but disabling the sRGB profile helps a little, since in standard mode Color contrast is much higher.

The OnePlus 3t display is covered with tempered Corning Gorilla Glass 4 with a good oleophobic coating and the notorious 2.5D effect, that is, slightly rounded on the sides. In my personal opinion, such a display is simply more pleasant to use than a display with clear edges on the sides. During the week active use Nothing happened to the glass except a couple of small scratches.

Operating system and shell

The operating system of OnePlus smartphones is one of their biggest advantages. Initially they worked on the now defunct CyanogenMod, and now on similar custom firmware. All these systems were united by the idea of “bare” Android, on which Google smartphones under the Nexus brand ran, with expanded functionality. OnePlus 3T is no exception. Everything here is the same as in the previous model. The model for the Chinese market runs on HydrogenOS, and for the American and European markets it runs on OxygenOS. I tested the smartphone with OxygenOS 4.0.3 based on Android 7.0 Nougat.

Externally, the system is an almost complete clone of the official launcher Google Start. There is a general application menu with vertical scrolling and the familiar notification shade. The first noticeable change is the first page of desktops called Shelf, where widgets and weather information are concentrated. The settings include switching a light theme to a dark one, the ability to activate on-screen buttons instead of touch ones, fine-tuning the notification LED and support for on-screen gestures, which I still couldn’t get used to.

OnePlus was one of the first to update its smartphones to latest version Android 7. OnePlus 3T comes already with this system on board. There are few changes compared to OxygenOS on Android 6 Marshmallow, but they are all useful. For example, you can now reply to messages directly from the notification shade. Naturally, it became possible to use two at once running applications on one screen and quickly return to the previous application using a double tap on the “Back” button.

The main change in the OnePlus 3T compared to the model that was released six months before it is Qualcomm's latest mobile chipset. At the same time, the change is purely marketing, because the OnePlus 3 already had excellent performance. Let's see what the new OnePlus flagship can do with the latest chipset.

The smartphone uses the same chipset as the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 or LeEco Le Pro3. 64-bit SoC based on Kryo architecture with four cores, two of which operate at 2.35 GHz and the other two at 1.6 GHz. Video accelerator - Adreno 530 with a frequency of 624 MHz. With this hardware, the smartphone works extremely quickly, without any lags or stutters. Everything just bounces off your fingers, by feel (and primarily, I think, due to optimization and the shell) everything works a little faster than on Mi Note 2.

There's no need to talk much about gaming performance. Modern Combat 5, Asphalt Extreme, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas runs perfectly at maximum settings and with stable FPS. My smartphone warmed up a little under prolonged load to a temperature of 48 degrees Celsius, but no throttling was noticeable.

Repeated runs of the AnTuTu benchmark confirm the absence of throttling - the difference in points was within one thousand. Both in AnTuTu and in other synthetic tests, OnePlus 3T almost always scores the highest number of points or remains at the same level among the presented models and overtakes, for example, the well-known Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.

Performance comparison according to Antutu version:

The OnePlus 3t I tested has 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of ROM, and there is also a model with increased internal storage up to 128 GB. Six gigabytes of RAM is enough to even store up to 7-10 applications and a couple of resource-intensive toys. It feels like there is an overabundance of RAM here, because applications can simply hang in memory for two days and then be unloaded in the same working state in which they were minimized. In all other respects, OnePlus 3T is identical to OnePlus 3.

Communications and multimedia

The OnePlus 3T, like the previous model, has one feature that many simply underestimate when choosing a smartphone. This is a three-position slider - silent, custom mode and standard. While testing the phone, I more than once caught myself thinking about how convenient it was to use it in everyday life. iPhone users with an even less functional slider will understand me.

The 3T copes well with voice communication tasks. It has a high-quality conversational speaker that allows you to hear your interlocutor even while traveling on the subway, plus a good multimedia speaker. It has medium volume and I like former user Google Nexus 6, the smartphone does not seem to be very loud. Although it produces high-quality sound and even with a hint of some bass.

Navigation is fine. When paired with GPS + A-GPS, in about 10-15 seconds the smartphone found and held about ten GPS satellites, seven GLONASS and even a couple of Beidou.

Autonomy

The battery capacity of the OnePlus 3t has been increased by 400 mAh compared to its predecessor - 3400 mAh versus 3000 - which had no particular problems with autonomy with its four hours of display activity. I’ll say right away that you shouldn’t expect that everything will be better here. Still, a more powerful Snapdragon 821 chipset is installed here, which is responsible for part of the increased battery capacity.

However, I cannot complain about the autonomy of the OnePlus 3T. On average, the smartphone showed me from 3.5 to 4.5 hours of screen activity, depending on the load of the smartphone. In my traditional mode of use with several calls per day, high display brightness, constant activity in three or four instant messengers, reading on average about an hour a day and, of course, constant use of the camera, the phone worked quietly from 9 am to 8-9 pm , after which it had to be sent for charging.

Like the previous flagship, OnePlus 3T cannot boast of gigantic autonomy, like, say, Moto Z Play and iPhone 7 Plus, but for the average user, I think these results will be enough.

Moreover, the device supports DASH Charge fast charging using a power supply with an output voltage of 5 Volts and a current of up to 4 Amps. This charging feels even faster than Turbo Charge in Moto, where I spend an average of one hour and 20-30 minutes to fully charge my smartphone from 0 to 100%. Here this figure is 20 minutes less. The smartphone battery is charged to 60% capacity in an average of 30-35 minutes.

Cameras

The main camera in OnePlus 3t is the same as in the previous model, which has already been removed from sale. It is equipped with a 16 megapixel Sony IMX298 sensor with phase detection autofocus. As before, the camera takes pictures well enough to compete with all modern flagships, but subjectively loses in performance to the iPhone 7/7 Plus. More precisely, he doesn’t know how to quickly take a picture that is good in all respects.

The camera interface is simple and convenient. It is possible to activate manual mode with adjustable shutter speed, focus, ISO and white balance. As in Moto smartphones, here you can activate quick start camera by double pressing the power button. There are several photo modes available: auto, auto-HDR, HDR and HQ.

Full-size pictures can be downloaded from this link.

The smartphone can record video in 4K and FullHD at 30 fps, as well as slow-mo in 720p at 120 fps. The video quality cannot be called excellent, latest iPhone The Samsung Galaxy S7 and Google Pixel beat out the OnePlus 3t here thanks to adequate stabilization and wider dynamic range.

The front camera is now a whopping 16 megapixels thanks to the Samsung 3P8SP sensor with f/2.0 aperture. You can see by eye that the resolution has increased, but due to the rigidly fixed autofocus, you can sometimes miss and get a slightly blurry selfie.

Results

OnePlus 3T is a largely improved model of the flagship from six months ago, which was already considered one of the best purchases in terms of price and quality. Yes, the smartphone has become a little more expensive, but it has acquired an advanced mobile chipset, the performance of which will last for another couple of years, an increased amount of built-in memory and an improved front camera. I think the last point will be corrected in subsequent OxygenOS updates, as OnePlus often does. The result suggests itself - even with the increased cost, OnePlus 3T is the very first smartphone for just over $400 that is worth paying attention to.

What I liked:

    appearance and new body color;

    even excess productivity;

    AMOLED display;

    a fast fingerprint scanner that doesn't lose out to Touch ID 2.0 in the iPhone 7;

    support for fast charging DASH Charge;

    “naked” Android with extended functionality;

    improved front camera.

What I didn't like:

    Due to the fixed autofocus, it’s easy to miss and get a slightly blurry selfie.

Where can I buy?

Thanks to the Gearbest online store for providing the smartphone for review. At the time of publication of this article, the OnePlus 3T Gunmetal (dark gray) version with 64 GB of memory will cost $440. The promotional code “GB3T” reduces the cost of the smartphone to $418, and you can additionally save another 6% (depending on the site) by using the cashback service.

Thank you for your attention!

The Chinese company One Plus, releasing commercially successful flagship smartphone models, successfully competes with such “monsters” of the mobile market as Apple, Samsung and Google. One of the most successful in the history of the company was the One Plus 3 model released in June 2016. And just five months after its release, the updated modification 3T was presented, which came to us for testing.

Was such a quick release of the new model justified? What is it and how does it differ from its predecessor? We have prepared a detailed One review Plus 3T, after reading which you will learn all the features and characteristics of this smartphone.

To get a first impression of what the One Plus 3T is like, watch the video review of this model:

Price and characteristics

At the beginning of March 2017, the price for 3T starts at 24,000 rubles. This is cheaper than in the US, where a similar model costs an average of $399-$499. The difference in price arose due to the fact that One phones Plus is produced in China, from where they are supplied directly to Russia, and to the USA – across the ocean. You can also save significantly on purchasing a phone if you order it directly from a Chinese website.

Characteristics of 1+3T:

  • screen: 5.5” Full-HD Super AMOLED;
  • processor: Snapdragon821 + Adreno 530 graphics accelerator;
  • RAM: 66 GB;
  • internal memory: 64/128 GB, depending on version;
  • cameras: main – 16 MP, front – 16 MP;
  • wireless interfaces: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, GPS, LTE;
  • battery: 3400 mAh.

Let's take a closer look at all the features of the phone.

Design and ergonomics

Visually, the new model is very similar to the third smartphone in the line, that is, its predecessor. There are two production colorways on sale - gold and dark gray, as well as limited edition versions called Colette and Midnight Black. Only 250 Colette-type smartphones were produced, for which huge queues lined up in Paris. The Midnight Black design is more affordable but also limited edition.

The aluminum back houses the One Plus logo, camera lens and flash. There are plastic inserts for antennas, the transition between materials is almost tactilely indistinguishable, and visually the stripes also harmoniously complement the design of the smartphone.

On the left edge there is a triple button for switching sound modes, which in practice turns out to be very convenient, and a volume rocker.

On the right is a screen lock key and a tray for a card slot (2x NanoSim).

Below - USB-C port, headphone jack and speaker grille. The upper end of the case remained completely empty.

On the front panel covered with tempered glass Gorilla Glass 4 there is a mechanical key with a built-in fingerprint. It works almost instantly with a minimum number of false recognitions.

Despite the screen diagonal of 5.5 inches, the smartphone turned out to be very compact; it fits easily in the hand. At the same time, the metal body has a matte, slightly rough surface, which does not slip and encourages a confident grip.

Display

The screen of the new model is exactly the same as that of the regular One Plus - it is 5.5 AMOLED with a Full HD resolution of 1920x1080 401ppi. Safety glass During testing, the smartphone did not receive even the slightest scratch; the olephobic coating on it is also very good.

The display is bright, rich and contrasty. Viewing angles are maximum, the brightness range is more than sufficient for any conditions of use. In general, the 3T’s screen is truly flagship.

The smartphone has many options for customizing the display, including adjusting color temperature, contrast, etc. The mode for automatically adjusting the screen brightness to external conditions works correctly. It is very useful on a sunny day, when you either walk down the street with your phone or go into shaded areas. In both cases, what is happening on the screen will be clearly visible and you will not have to change the brightness manually every time.

Hardware, performance

One Plus 3T runs on Snapdragon processor 821, and its predecessor - on the Snapdragon 820. In practice, the difference between the two chipsets is absolutely imperceptible; the performance of both is enough for the eyes in any scenarios for using the smartphone. Therefore, if you have One Plus 3, do not rush to change it to a new one - you will not see much of a difference in operating speed.

During the entire testing period, we did not notice any moments of thoughtfulness in the smartphone, or any bugs or stutters. Everything flies - both in the interface and browser, and in games. Add to this the amount of RAM increased to 6 GB and we get a smartphone that will be relevant for at least several more years, since it is now one of the best in terms of hardware.

Cameras, picture and video quality

One of the main differences between the 1+3T and its predecessor is the 16-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture and LED flash. However, this did not give a real noticeable increase in the quality of selfies; the picture was not much better than the one produced by the 8-megapixel front camera 1+3, and the pictures it took were decent.

Video 1+3T records in 4K resolution, the picture turns out to be very decent in detail, but stabilization sometimes fails. In general, in terms of photo and video capabilities, the smartphone can easily compete with the flagships of A-brands; here it will not disappoint even demanding users.

Speaker and sound quality

The 1+3T has a useful button for changing volume modes; it allows you to choose between three profiles: normal, quiet and do not disturb (silent), which is very convenient for various situations. The quality of the multimedia speaker is good, the sound is loud and clear. Headphones are also doing well.

The microphone and speaker of the device work flawlessly. During a conversation, the interlocutor, like you, can be heard perfectly, and he claims the same.

Battery

We conducted a variety of endurance tests on the One Plus 3T, testing it in intensive mode all day long: taking photos and videos, surfing the Internet, and using the device as a navigator. The smartphone lasted until the evening, and it still had 15% charge left.

In a more economical mode, the battery holds a charge for about two days. Test of continuous video playback with disabled wireless communication gave almost 17 hours of active screen - this is a very cool result. Well, as befits a 3T flagship, it’s equipped fast charging, which fills the battery from zero to 100% in an hour.

Wireless communications and Internet

The smartphone supports Wi-Fi, GPS, NFS, Bluetooth 4.2, GLONASS and the Chinese BeiDou system. It takes about 5 seconds to set up for satellite navigation on a cold start. Signal from Wi-Fi router The device receives at a distance of up to 350 meters. 3G/4G Internet is fast and stable both outdoors and indoors, no connection problems were detected.

Via USB-C, the smartphone correctly connects to any external devices. The disadvantages of the model include the absence of FM radio, beloved by conservatives.
