Welcome to my blog!
Sometimes a computer user is faced with the question: “How to find out the laptop model.”
This may be needed, for example, when you need to download drivers for it or find instructions for it. This may also be needed when replacing components, when purchasing a power supply for it or a battery.

In fact, there can be many reasons for knowing the model name of your laptop or netbook, and each user should be able to determine it independently. Even if you constantly use your laptop, after some time you simply forget which model you have and can only name the manufacturer.

There are a lot of ways to find out the markings of your laptop and some of them are the same as when determining the markings of your iron friend. So I recommend programs that will help you maintain this, as they may be useful to you in the future.

Please note that there is practically no universal option to find out the markings of your laptop; any of these options may not work. It depends on the condition of the laptop, its model and the programs we use. Even the most reliable way, this is a marking on the laptop itself; it may not help you if it is simply missing or if it is erased.

Therefore, I advise you to adopt several methods that you like best and use them. When writing the article, I checked these options for different laptops and on some one method worked, but on other models it was useless.
The article is divided into several points, from the simplest and most obvious to the more complex, choose any one and use it.

YOU CAN FIND OUT YOUR LAPTOP MODEL:

You can find out the laptop model by looking at the emblems or stickers on it.

The easiest and most obvious way to find out the laptop model is to look at its markings and the stickers that are located on the bottom of its case.

On some models, the marking is located on the front, on the side of the screen or on the panel with the keyboard; you just need to look at it carefully. But of course, such markings are not applied to all models, so keep in mind that they may not be there.

You can get more accurate information about your model if you turn it upside down and look carefully at the stickers that are on its bottom panel. On each laptop, the manufacturer leaves detailed information on a special sticker, so that after reading it you will get complete clarity about what model you have. An exception can only be for those models that simply did not have such a sticker for various reasons. Then you will have to use one of the options described below in the article.

You can also disconnect battery and see if there is a sticker on the body underneath it; on some models the marking can be seen there.

Look at the instructions or the driver disk.

If you are the owner of a new laptop and carefully store all the documentation for it, then you are lucky, you can find out the markings of your model by reading this documentation.

Not all instructions may contain the name of your model, but in my case I was lucky and from the instructions for my laptop I can see which model I have.

A driver disk can also help you recognize the markings; if you have such a disk, look at it, maybe you will be lucky and you will read the name of your model on it.

Having looked at the sales receipt for the purchase of a laptop.

This method is more of an exception to the rule than normal advice, since not all users keep receipts of their purchases for several years.

I was lucky to have a laptop purchased in 2011; in 2016 I still have a receipt from this purchase, from which I can accurately determine the name of the model of your laptop. If you carefully keep all your receipts and warranty cards, look at them, they will help you find out the model of yours.

Using the BIOS you can find out the laptop model.

This method is far from universal, since not all laptops can read the model name in the BIOS, but it must be taken into account.

Go to the BIOS of your laptop and immediately on the first page, which is called “Information”, in the “Product Name” line you will see the name of your model. But I repeat, not all laptops have such information, it depends on your luck.

Please note that different models Laptops display information about themselves differently when viewed in different programs.
The name of some models can be seen in the “Model” line, and the name of others in the “Version” line. This must be taken into account when viewing information in such programs and look at both lines.

Using the Windows command line.

Using the command line console, you can also find out the markings of some laptop models; let's look at two options for how this can be done.
Open a command prompt Windows string, by pressing the Win+R key combination and in the “Run” window, enter the command “cmd” without quotes. A command prompt window will open where you will need to enter the desired command.

The first command is:

wmic csproduct get name

Enter it and press “Enter”, after which you will see the name of your laptop model in the line below.
This command is difficult to remember, the next command is much easier to use. Enter the word in the console:

and press “Enter”, after which information about your system will appear in the console.

You need the “System Manufacturer” and “System Model” lines where you can find the information you need.

Just keep in mind that this method does not work on all computers, on some you will not see the name of the marking, for example, my Lenovo was not detected by this command, since it can be identified in the “Version” line, but Samsung was able to be identified, it is clearly visible in line “Model”.

Using the DirectX diagnostic program.

A standard Windows utility called dxdiag.exe can help you determine the model name of your laptop. When you run it on a desktop computer, it will show you the marking motherboard your PC, and when using it on a laptop, it already shows its markings.

Click on the “Start” button and enter the command in the search bar:

A window will open called “DirectX Diagnostic Tool”, with which we can find out the markings of our laptop.

Here you need to go to the “System” tab, where we are interested in only two lines:
“Computer manufacturer” – will indicate to us the name of the manufacturer’s company.
“Computer model” – its marking.
But keep in mind that this program cannot always show you the laptop model, only if it is visible to the program as a model, and not as a version.

How to find out the laptop model using programs that show information about the computer.

There are many programs that can help you get complete information about the contents of your computer, and some of these programs will help tell us what model our laptop is.
We will get acquainted with some of them in this article.

Using the Everest program.

The Everest program has been on users' computers for quite some time, and despite the fact that new versions of this utility have already appeared, it can still serve us and tell us what model of laptop we have.

http://www.lavalys.com/

To do this you need to do the following:
1. Open the program and in the “Menu” tab, select “Computer - DMI”.
2. In the right window of the program, open the “System” item, and at the bottom of the window look at the lines “Product” and “Version”, where you will see the name of your laptop model.

Using the PC Wizard program.

The next program with which you can find out the model name of your laptop is the PC Wizard information utility.

http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/pc-wizard.html

Open the program and go to the “Hardware” section, selecting the “Motherboard” icon in it.

Here, in the right window of the program, go to the “Manufacturer” section and in the lower window, in the “Product” or “Version” line, you will see the name of your laptop model.

Using the AIDA64 program.

AIDA64 program is updated version the same Everest and they are very similar in appearance and you can find out the markings of the laptop using this program.

http://www.aida64russia.ru

Download any version of the AIDA64 program and run it. The program is paid, but it won’t hurt us to get the information we need.

Just like in its previous version, go to the “Menu” tab and:
1. Open “Computer - DMI”.
2. In the right window, open the “System” tab, and in the lower window, in the “Product” or “Version” line, you will see the name of your laptop model.

Using the SiSoftware Sandra program.

The SiSoftware Sandra application is designed to diagnose and analyze computer components and with its help you can also find out the laptop model.

You can download the Belarc Advisor program from the link:

http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

When you launch the program, your system will be analyzed and its results will be shown in the browser.

To find out the characteristics of your laptop, you need to look at the “System Model” section, which is located at the top right of the program window.

Using the Windows utility – “System Information”.

Windows has a standard utility that shows the user information about your computer’s system, it’s called “msinfo32″ or simply “System Information”.
To open it, you just need to click the “Start” button and enter the name of the program in the search bar - “System Information”, Windows will find it and all you have to do is run the utility.

On the main window of the program you will see basic information about your computer and if you have a laptop, then in the lines “Manufacturer” and “Model” you will see information about its marking.

I have described only some programs that can be used to obtain information about your computer; in fact, there are many more. For example, very popular CPU-Z utility It can also show you the laptop markings in the “Motherboard” tab in the model line, but this does not work on all models.
I recommend using several options and programs for the test, since they all display information about the system differently and to find out for sure, it is better to try several options.
If you know any other ways to find out the laptop model, please write about them in the comments to this article.
Good luck!

In this article we will talk about such a seemingly banal thing, how to find out the laptop model (HP) Hewlett Packard.

Every person who uses a laptop must know its model. This is necessary to search for drivers, software and other components, without which the computer will not function normally.

Sometimes it happens that the user forgets or does not know the model of his device at all. Of course, on many HP laptops, the model type can be found on a sticker located either near the screen or near the keyboard.

But, in fact, this is just a series consisting of letters and numbers. As practice shows, such information is not enough to search for important software () or to purchase additional devices and spare parts.

The question arises: “What to do if you urgently need a complete laptop model, but you can’t find it?” First of all, you need to study and check all the ways to solve such a simple problem.

Where to see the model

Of all the methods by which you can find a device model, the following options should be highlighted that will really help you cope with the task. So, you can find the model:

  • Using information in a laptop;
  • Using the support site;
  • Using documentation;
  • Using additional programs.

Some of the methods are only available if you have an enabled, working . Therefore, if you need a device model due to its breakdown, you should use its search only through the accompanying documentation for the PC or through the official HP website, but from another laptop or desktop computer.

Information in the laptop

Perfect for those who have at least a little knowledge of computers. You need to log in to the system (when you turn on the PC, you need to click “ ESC", and then " F1") and find the section Product Name. Opposite it will be the full model of the laptop being used.

You can also open the “My Computer” folder on your desktop, right-click and go to the “Properties” section. As a rule, in this section you can find almost all the necessary information about your personal computer. If there is no such folder on your desktop, you need to click “Start”, where select “My Computer” in right side open window.

Support site

Typically, this method is used in cases where there are no documents for the device. If an HP laptop user knows serial number PC, by visiting the support site you can easily find out your computer model.

After submitting a request, after a few seconds the site will go to the HP Product Warranty Result page, where all necessary information about the laptop, in addition to the model. If the site does not give any results, it is recommended to check whether the data was entered correctly.

Enter your details personal computer It is recommended exclusively on the official Hewlett-Packard website to avoid encounters with scammers.

Laptop documentation

Any details of a laptop can be found by reading the documents that came with it at the time of purchase. Typically, the first page of the instructions indicates the device model, series, information about the battery, processor, hard drive and other technical characteristics. It should be noted that the PC model is also indicated on the warranty card.

The full model can also be found at back cover laptop (unfortunately, not on every device). And here Additional information It is recommended to look at the stickers near the keyboard (if you do not need details about the system). Usually, there is brief information about the video card and processor.

On some PCs, information is located on the back of the battery or under the battery. In order to view the model, you need to remove the battery (after disconnecting the computer from the network) and, after inspecting the compartment, find a sticker with data about the device.

Additional programs

On the Internet you can find a wide variety of utilities that will not only tell you about the characteristics and model of the computer, but also even show the heating temperature of each of its components.

The methods described below will help you find out the model of your laptop, workstation or motherboard computer.

Why do you need the exact model name or part number?

Part number or exact model name is used to search for drivers or compatible components on the manufacturer’s website.

Model and modification

Computer manufacturers rarely release one modification of a specific laptop model. As a rule, several product modifications are produced in the same body. The most expensive modification may have powerful processor, for example, Core i7, 8GB random access memory and a powerful video adapter from nVidia. And the most budget one can be equipped with a low-power Celeron, two gigabytes of RAM and an integrated video adapter from Intel. At the same time, externally the devices will look exactly the same.

At the same time, many manufacturers indicate only the product line on the front of the product. For example Asus 500 Series. Or HP Pavilion DV6000. However, it is extremely important for the user to know the exact model in order to download necessary drivers. And the exact name of the model or its part number is contained on the bottom of the product: for example, Pavilion DV6125.

In the case of HP, the term Notebook Model stands for the model name. A Product Number(aka part number, part number, product number, code of product) is a unique product identifier that serves to identify a modification.

Where to find the model name of a laptop (workstation)

1. On the bottom of the laptop

Turn off your laptop. Turn it over and place it on a soft cloth to avoid scratching the top cover. In most cases, information about the model and modification is contained on the bottom cover of the product:

2. Under the battery or on the battery

Turn off your laptop. Wait until the cooling system noise and hard drive will stop. After this, remove the battery. In our case, the model and part number were found on the laptop case under the battery:

3. Using the command line

Enter the command:

Wmic csproduct get name

Click Enter:

If you run this command on a desktop computer, you will receive either a name (if it is a branded work station), or motherboard model:

As you can see, in the case of the computer, we received the exact model of the motherboard. But in the case of the laptop, we only learned the general name of the series and this information is not enough for us to search for drivers. Therefore, the command line will not always solve this problem.

4. In BIOS

Enter BIOS.

Different laptops may contain model data in different sections. Usually they are called Main or System information.

This is what it looks like Laptop BIOS HP G62:

And this is what the BIOS of the older HP Compaq nx6310 looks like:

5. Using software

The model and modification of a computer (laptop, netbook) can also be found using special utilities. AIDA64 is ideal for such purposes.

Launch the AIDA64 program.

Open path:

Computer => DMI => System

Example No. 1. We launch the AIDA64 program on the laptop.

In field Product Only the basic laptop model is displayed - HP G62 Notebook PC, which we already know.
But in the field SKU# we see the part number XU610EA#ACB, which is enough to fully identify the device on the manufacturer’s website:

Example No. 2. Desktop.

Having launched the program on a desktop computer, we are in the field Product we see the model of the motherboard, because system unit not branded.

6. On the package

If you still have the packaging from your laptop, find it and try to find information about the model and components on it. Very often similar Technical information printed on a white sticker or a white rectangle at the end of the package.

conclusions

The most accurate information about the model and modification of laptops can be obtained from the BIOS and special AIDA64 software.

Today we will look at several proven and easiest ways to find out the model of a laptop or netbook, starting from built-in tools operating system, ending with specialized software.

Almost every user, while using a laptop, is faced with the need to know the name of the device. This will be useful not only for checking it technical characteristics, but also for the purchase of various components and accessories. Also, do not exclude cases with repairs, when when you call service center, the operator can specify the make and model of the equipment to check the availability of the required parts in the warehouse and give an estimated cost of the upcoming work.

First of all, the information of interest can be found on the product box, in the accompanying user manual, on the warranty card or on the purchase receipt. If packaging and documentation are missing, follow the points below from our article and you will definitely find what you are looking for.

We look at the information on the panel and in the battery part

To date, the lineup laptops, netbooks and ultrabooks is incredibly huge. Manufacturers can sculpt stickers in different parts. For example, on most laptops from Samsung, Lenovo, HP, Asus, and Dell, the inscriptions are located on the front side, not far from the touchpad.

Some MSI modifications, Acer Aspire, Hewlett Packard, Fujitsu-Siemens, Sony Vaio received designations on the side or bottom. In any case, carefully inspect the equipment from all sides and most likely you will see the necessary information.

Another option to look at the serial number and find out the specific model of the laptop is the battery.

Turn off the power first! After 10-15 minutes, try to carefully turn your “iron friend” over, remove the latches and cover on the back panel and remove the battery. Find the markings on your laptop battery, which may be located on the front or side, near the contacts.

Where can I find accurate information about the hardware in the BIOS?

Immediately when you reboot or turn on the laptop/netbook (before the Windows logo appears), press one of the F2, Delete or F10 buttons several times in a row;

Using specialized software

The problem we are considering can be implemented using the program AIDA64 or Everest. Both are designed to monitor laptop performance. They have an intuitive menu in Russian and convenient controls. By the way, the functionality and interface shell of these utilities are practically no different.

It is worth noting another small but quite productive program Belarc Advisor, the main task of which is to diagnose installed software, scan the work network card, video adapter, CPU, monitor, RAM, HDD/SSD, various controllers, as well as reporting on OS performance. Despite the English localization, you get an extremely simple menu and a lot of useful options. Just one of these is displaying the line System Model and Notebook Name(as shown in the screenshot below).

If you are interested in how to determine the model Apple laptop, find this information in the About tab of your Mac OS X.

To determine the characteristics of a laptop, you need to know its exact model. Using it, you can easily find the complete technical data of the computer on the manufacturer’s website. Let's figure out how to find out the model of a PC or laptop visually, using Windows or third-party programs.

You can find the name of the laptop and see the model on its packaging box and in the documents. If you don’t have the box, then most likely you still have the warranty card - you will find the necessary information in it.

If you don’t have documents at hand, the surest way to find out the serial number of your laptop is to find the manufacturer’s sticker on it. It can be located on the front panel next to the keyboard or on the back.

If the information on the sticker is not readable, the device's battery will help you find out the brand. Turn off the laptop, turn it around and remove the battery by opening the latches on the edges. The information you need may be located in a compartment under the battery or directly on the battery case.
