Brand new cameras are the best reason to buy Samsung Galaxy S9 or S9+. The developers literally created them anew, changing a lot for the better. Firstly, Samsung's new flagships are phones with the fastest lenses in the world. The minimum aperture of both gadgets is f/1.5. This means that the devices will take even better photographs and videos in low-light conditions, since more light hits the matrix. But that’s not all: the aperture of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ is variable – you can switch in the range from a minimum value of f/1.5 to a maximum value of f/2.4. As a result, in the dark, in twilight and rooms with dim light, it is better to use the first option, and in good light - the second. In this case, the photos will become sharper, they will retain more details and there will be less noise.

In addition, the entire design of the sensor that captures the image has changed. Now it consists of three elements. The first of them is a photosensitive layer with the already proven Dual Pixel technology, thanks to which focusing on the subject occurs almost instantly. The second element is a high-speed signal processing system. Third - module DRAM memory, which very quickly reads the image from the matrix and just as quickly transmits it for processing. It was thanks to him that super slow motion shooting at 960 or 240 frames per second became possible. Now you can capture such breathtaking moments on your smartphone camera that the human eye cannot even distinguish!

  • Samsung Galaxy S9 - basic version, screen diagonal 5.8 inches;
  • Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus (or Galaxy S9+) - version with a large 6.2-inch display;
  • Samsung Galaxy S9 Active - exclusive in a shock-resistant case for the American mobile operator AT&T.

Also, the “ninth galaxies” will differ in the amount of RAM and internal memory. China (pressure from local brands) and South Korea itself are still in a privileged position, which have been receiving the most advanced modifications of Samsung’s new products for several years now.

You shouldn’t expect the appearance of variants like Galaxy S9 Mini, Galaxy S9 Pro, Galaxy S9 Prime, Galaxy S9 Neo, as the company has simplified its the lineup and no longer devotes efforts to producing such highly specialized models since 2015.

Key features

  • Luxurious Infinity Display with curved side edges, no side frames and very thin padding at the top and bottom. The Super AMOLED matrix guarantees spectacular rich colors, and the aspect ratio of 18.5 to 9 ensures comfortable launching of a wide variety of applications.
  • In-display fingerprint scanner. It is not yet clear whether Samsung will be able to complete it in time for the release of the Galaxy S9, but the company's engineers are working tirelessly in this direction. Not confirmed.
  • Dual main camera with 2x hardware zoom, combined (optical and digital) image stabilization, hybrid autofocus (phase + laser), powerful flash and professional shooting modes.
  • New powerful processors And . The latter is intended only for modifications of the Galaxy S9 for China, the USA and Japan.
  • Improved compared to Galaxy S8 face recognition function, which will rely on 3D scanning and allow the smartphone to more accurately and reliably “recognize” its owner.
  • Smart voice assistant Bixby, “understands” the Samsung Galaxy S9 user literally at a glance (in fact, the commands still need to be clear).
  • Support for 4G LTE Category 18 networks, which will allow the “ninth galaxy” to download data at speeds of up to 1.2 Gbit/s. And in some countries there is also a special e-SIM “slot”.
  • Richest set of sensors, among which there may even be a special environmental sensor.
  • Support such "evolutionary" options, like a 3.5 mm headset/headphone jack and a MicroSD card slot.
  • And also the already familiar features of Samsung flagships, which are absent from most competitors (or not at all): fast wireless charging, contactless payments Samsung Pay and so on.

Design

At the end of October, the first renderings and photos of Galaxy S9 prototypes appeared, which “look like the real thing.” Radical update of the external appearance Galaxy comparison There is no S8 in sight; the manufacturer preferred to perfect the existing successful concept.

Thus, the Samsung Galaxy S9 will receive a curved screen similar to its predecessor with an aspect ratio of 9 to 18.5. At the same time, the bottom frame is made as thin as possible, making both versions a little more compact compared to the previous generation.

Both the volume and power control keys, as well as a special button for calling the voicemail, remain in place. Bixby assistant. In the renders, you can see additional holes at the top of the screen, which suggests either a dual front camera or a 3D face scanner.

The rear panel of the Galaxy S9 will undergo significant changes. Firstly, two photo modules of the main camera with a powerful dual-tone flash will be placed there. Secondly, the fingerprint scanner is rumored to be moving to a more convenient location and will be located in the middle.

Some experts have suggested that new flagship Samsung, following the top new products of its competitors, will lose the usual 3.5 mm jack for headphones and headsets. However, as confirmation there is one single sketch, the reliability of which is questionable.

Main settings

CPU

Following the established tradition, Samsung clearly plans to release its new Galaxy S9 based on two chipsets - from Qualcomm and its own. Devices based on the first one will most likely be intended only for sale in China, the USA and Japan (probably).

There is information that Samsung will build into the Exynos 9810 a special coprocessor for working with neural networks, similar to what Huawei recently demonstrated with the Kirin 970 and Apple in the A11. This computing module will be used to offload the CPU in tasks related to facial, iris and fingerprint recognition.

Purely theoretically this decision can be used in games and any other applications that use elements of artificial intelligence. However, in this case, support from third-party software developers will be required, taking into account the features of the Galaxy S9, or the approval of a universal API.

At the end of September, rumors spread online that the Korean giant had reserved almost the entire first edition of Snapdragon 845 for itself, in order to prevent competitors from grabbing a piece of such a tasty pie. Thus, the Samsung Galaxy S9 may initially be the only flagship by 2018 standards.

Data on the technical characteristics of both chips is still contradictory. For example, it is not clear whether Qualcomm will continue to develop proprietary custom Kryo cores or will use ARM developments (Cortex-A75 and Cortex-A53). Moreover, it is still difficult to somehow even approximately assess their performance.

In September, a probable prototype appeared in the popular benchmark GeekBench Galaxy modifications S8+ for Chinese market with model number SM-G9650 based on Snapdragon 845 (SMD845). True, there are only four processor cores, but random access memory- only 4 Gb.

The result of 7371 points for the multi-core test cannot be called particularly outstanding. This is slightly better than the OnePlus 5 (about 6300), but worse than the Apple iPhone 8 (almost 9000). However, in any case, it’s worth making a discount that this is just an early prototype, moreover, running Android 7.1.2. Or even fake.

Memory

We expect that basic Samsung version The Galaxy S9 will receive 6 GB of LPDDR4x RAM, but in some countries (China, South Korea, perhaps some others) a top-end modification will be available that has all 8 GB of RAM. As practice shows, increasing this parameter has almost no effect on the speed of operation.

The capacity of the built-in storage, which will be 64 Gb, should not increase either. For the vast majority of users, this volume will be enough “through the roof”, and for the rest, Samsung Mobile will prepare a couple of advanced options for 128 and 256 GB. The type of flash memory used is UFS 2.1 (the third version is not ready yet).

Most likely, the slot for MicroSD memory cards will also remain, which will be hybrid for Dual-SIM models. The maximum supported volume can reach 2 Tb, although the manufacturer will most likely officially limit it to 256 Gb.

UPD. dated October 20, 2017 According to insider Benjamin Geskin ( @VenyaGeskin1 on Twitter) the minimum volume of the built-in flash drive of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ will be 128 Gb, and the amount of RAM is consistent with our assumptions - 6 Gb. There will be an SD card slot.

Screen

According to information from a source “who wished to remain anonymous,” the screen diagonal of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus should not change compared to their predecessors and will be 5.77 and 6.22 inches, respectively. At the same time, due to thinner frames, the dimensions of smartphones may decrease.

The resolution should also remain the same, which will be 1440 × 2960 pixels (WQHD+, aspect ratio 18.5, trade name Infinity display). Despite the fact that the company already has ultra-clear 4K matrices for smartphones, in practice there is no need for them yet.

At the same time, the only Galaxy version The S9 with a flat screen will be the “all-terrain” S9 Active; in all other cases, the flagships will receive a curved Edge display. As for the possibility of embedding a fingerprint scanner directly into the screen, we will talk about this possibility separately.

Camera

The direction of development is clear: Samsung also could not resist the fashion for dual cameras, and the future Galaxy S9 will definitely receive one (12 Mp + 12 Mp or 12 Mp + 13 Mp). The “first pancake” in the case of Note 8 turned out to be not “lumpy” at all, so the Koreans will probably take this already proven solution as a basis.

Rumors attribute to the “ninth galaxy” a two- or three-fold zoom without loss of quality, the presence of optical and electronic image stabilization, hybrid autofocus and a powerful dual-tone flash. There should also be an option to record 4K video at 60 frames per second or higher.

UPD from 10.12.17. Information has emerged that Samsung is preparing to release a new generation of modules for mobile phone cameras:

  • ISOCELL Fast 2L9 is a large-format sensor with a resolution of 12 MP, a pixel size of 1.28 microns and support for Dual Pixel technology. It is possible to simulate the bokeh effect without using an auxiliary module.
  • ISOCELL Slim 2X7 is another interesting product, which, with a resolution of 24 MP, has a pixel size of 0.9 microns. However, when duplicating them we get 1.80 µm, which gives high quality pictures in low light conditions. It also supports a feature called Deep Trench, which is responsible for increasing the dynamic range.

The key feature of these solutions is video recording at a frequency of 960 frames per second at FullHD resolution (Slow-motion “slow motion” mode). Now only Sony Xperia XZ1, and even the Apple iPhone 8 and X are not tough enough.

It is likely that one of these sensors will find use in the new Samsung Galaxy S9. As for the front camera, it can be 12 MP, and among the features are autofocus, a fast lens and the possibility of three-dimensional face recognition (more on that in a moment).

Connection

If we compare the Samsung Galaxy S9 and its predecessor, the Galaxy S8, their communication capabilities will not differ much. For example, the parameters of the new Exynos and Snapdragon chipsets include support for LTE Category 18 networks, but this only means an increase in speed from 1 Gbit/s to 1.2 Gbit/s.

However, the vast majority of users will not be able to feel the benefit of even these “extra” 200 Mbit/s, as the development of operators cellular communications clearly can't keep up with smartphones. In addition, maximum performance can only be achieved under ideal conditions.

The only thing that really deserves attention is the emergence of support for electronic SIM card technology. True, it will most likely be available only on the American market. For “evolutionary” purposes, in the “image and likeness” of Google Pixel 2, the nano-SIM slot should be left.

Biometrics

On this moment Samsung flagships are the most advanced in terms of biometric identification capabilities of the smartphone owner: they have the usual fingerprint scanner, an iris scanner, and a facial recognition function.

At the moment, it is not known whether the Koreans will be able to integrate a fingerprint sensor directly into the screen. It is known that Kuo, BeyondEyes and Samsung LSI have already prepared test samples of such modules, but it is not clear which one will be chosen. And will the Galaxy S9 get it?

At the end of October, sketches appeared on the Internet depicting a round touch button“Home” with a built-in fingerprint scanner at the bottom of the display of the “ninth galaxy”, and a special cutout was made for it, similar to what the Essential Phone has to accommodate the front camera.

There is an assumption that the fingerprint module integrated directly into the screen will receive only Galaxy Note 9, and the “spring” flagship will be content with the classic solution. Unless the location will be chosen more convenient than in the case of its predecessor.

Changes should also affect the ability to recognize faces. The current implementation available on the Galaxy S8 turned out to be not particularly reliable. In particular, it can be deceived in some cases simply by a printed photograph. Therefore, in the case of the Samsung Galaxy S9, we should see more advanced 3D scanning.

At the beginning of October, several publications wrote that Samsung was indeed developing Apple analogues Face ID and TrueDepth. Moreover, for 3D facial scanning it is not necessary to install a dual main camera: proprietary Dual Pixel technology is sufficient.

As it turned out, the latter makes it possible to measure the depth of space. And the front cameras of the flagships of the South Korean giant are some of the best. For example, they support autofocus, which is a rare feature (for some reason it is believed that it is not needed for “selfies”).

Power supply

In 2017, even Apple itself admitted that wireless charging was the future, so Samsung has been at the forefront of progress all these years. In the case of the upcoming Galaxy S9, we have the chance to get a new even faster version, which will allow us to forget about wires altogether in many cases.

Regarding conventional wired high-speed charging, it is worth noting the following: the Korean giant itself has not yet been able to develop a version as effective as QuickCharge 3.0/4.0 from Qualcomm for Exynos chipsets. Therefore, in the case of modifications on Snapdragon, the latter is limited to the second version.

Samsung has already been repeatedly criticized for this approach, but “things are still there,” as they say. The same can be said about the battery capacity, which will most likely remain at the same level.

Software

Samsung Galaxy S9 along with its big version The S9+ promises to be the company's first smartphone that, out of the box, will run the latest Android 8.0 Oreo with the latest version of the proprietary Experience 9.0 shell.

However, to admire latest development, it will not be necessary to wait for the release of the new “nine”. Not long ago, up to Android 8 for the Galaxy S8, S8+ and Note 8 became available to a wide range of beta testers.

Other points

Like previous Samsung flagships, the new Galaxy S9 will receive a rich set of sensors: accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity, barometer, heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, etc. However, the Koreans are now developing a new sensor for environmental cleanliness, and this is what some experts expect in the “nine”.

The main task of the latest sensor is to measure the amount of harmful substances in the air and warn the smartphone owner about excess acceptable standards. Representatives of the company itself have not yet commented on the possibility of an environmental sensor appearing on the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus.

release date

It is expected that the presentation of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus will take place on February 25, 2018, on the “zero” day of the international exhibition Mobile World Congress 2018. The latter will be held from 02/26/18 to 03/01/18 in Barcelona. Korean flagships are among its most anticipated new products.

Most likely, Samsung will make every effort to ensure that in the case of the Galaxy S9 the situation of this year is not repeated, when, due to the lack of a sufficient number of Snapdragon 835 chipsets, the announcement of the “eighth Galaxy” had to be postponed. However, there is an alternative version that the company itself provoked this shortage.

If events develop favorably, applications for pre-orders of the Samsung Galaxy S9 will begin the very next day after the presentation, but the launch date is different countries will vary. The first countries to receive the new product will be the UK, Germany, the USA and South Korea itself.

It is likely that this list may be much wider, but Russia, Ukraine and the countries of the post-Soviet space should only be included in the “second wave” of sales launch.

P.S. In general, there are rumors online about the possibility of an earlier announcement of the Galaxy S9 in January 2018, but they are most likely not true. In particular, it is said that the flagship could be presented in January, and sales will begin a month later.

P.P.S. Rumors indicate that due to the reserve of Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipsets Samsung company will release its flagships to the market before its competitors and will be in a privileged position for some time.

Price issue

In 2017, the smartphone market saw a trend towards increasing prices, and this applies not only to flagship-level products. On the one hand, this is due to the popularization of the “especially frameless design,” which is more expensive to produce, and on the other hand, due to the increase in prices for components.

However, if we talk about how much the Samsung Galaxy S9 will cost, we do not expect any significant increase in price relative to its predecessors. At least in dollar terms. There are several reasons for this:

  • The price of the Galaxy S8 is directly close to the top level for a mainstream flagship-level model. A further increase will inevitably lead to a fall in demand.
  • In 2018, similar frameless flagships should be presented by many manufacturers, and competition in the market is expected to be very intense.
  • To be honest, the Galaxy S9 has not yet developed such an important feature that would justify an increase in the price tag by at least $100.

It is likely that the breakdown of the cost of the “ninth galaxy” will be as follows:

*Probable price values are given without concluding a contract with a mobile operator.
** The cost of smartphones on the Russian market can only be approximated for now, as it depends on further fluctuations in the ruble exchange rate.

(14 ratings, on average: 4,64 out of 5)

Samsung's position can only be envied - its flagship handsets remain the most desirable Android smartphones. By and large, they could simply release it in a new body color and with new firmware - and everyone would be delighted. However, the Koreans did not limit themselves to such a cosmetic update and rolled out a more ambitious update - with new hardware, a dual camera and software features in the spirit of the times. Like last year, the flagship Samsung Galaxy comes in two versions - S9 and S9+. But the differences between them now come down not only to the screen diagonal and battery capacity, but also to the built-in camera. Firstly, the older model now has a double module - with an additional telephoto lens. And secondly, the main (wide-angle) camera has learned new tricks, including variable aperture.

Oddly enough, this feature is not found in any current smartphone, but in 2009 it was implemented, for example, in the Nokia N86. Samsung cannot be called a pioneer in this area, but I am sure that closer to the middle of the year, variable aperture (and not its software imitation) will appear in new products from other manufacturers. There is no talk of smooth adjustment of the aperture value yet - the Galaxy S9 and S9+ offer only two values: F1.5 and F2.4. It turns out that this is also the fastest camera among mobile devices, and the closest competitor will be Huawei Mate 10 Pro - it has F1.6.

The sensor resolution remains the same - 12 megapixels, and the equivalent focal length is 26 mm; autofocus operates in a hybrid phase-contrast mode, which is assisted by Dual Pixel technology. Optical stabilization has not gone away either. The Galaxy S9 and S9+ are the same in all this, but the Galaxy S9+ has a second camera on the back. It has the same sensor resolution - 12 megapixels, the same optical stabilization and autofocus, and the aperture is strictly fixed - F2.4. Switching between wide-angle and tele mode is similar to 2x optical zoom. IN normal mode The camera takes excellent pictures, but I can’t yet say how much better it has become compared to the Galaxy S8, we’ll check this in March during preparation detailed review. But the presentation talked more about the new camera capabilities. This is, firstly, the ability to shoot video at a frequency of 960 frames per second. Secondly, Bixby features have been upgraded - roughly speaking, you can now make purchases from the camera application. And thirdly, these are animated emojis that are created after scanning the face with the built-in camera; called AR Emoji. Yes, we all laughed together at this during iPhone presentations X, but now everyone has similar functions. This is truly the innovation we deserve.

Accelerated shooting is made possible by placing memory modules directly on the CMOS sensor. Sony did the same thing last year in its and. There is little memory, so you cannot shoot for as long as you like in slow motion - this can only be done periodically, with each press of the button (or with each operation that is possible in automatic mode) you will get about 6 seconds of video with a frame rate of 960 fps. The implementation is approximately the same as in Sony smartphones, and all this seems terribly inconvenient, to be honest. It may take some skill. But I would prefer a lower frame rate (the same 480 fps), but without duration restrictions.

As for Bixby, in general it is the same strange and uninstallable gimmick that works very unstable and is practically useless in Russia. Among the innovations, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ included an application for selecting makeup. It shows the colors of eye shadow, lipstick, powder and other things in real time, and the option you like can be ordered in the online store with one touch. Realized surprisingly well. But the bad news is that all this will not work in Russia. At the time of launch of the smartphone, such purchases will only be possible in the US, Canada, UK and China.

Another feature of the updated Bixby allows you to use the camera to recognize food on a plate and display up-to-date information about the composition of products and calorie content. Naturally, all this works very conditionally - and no artificial intelligence will distinguish a Snickers, consisting mainly of fast carbohydrates, from a protein bar offering 20 grams of protein. In general, this is basically impossible to take seriously in the coming years, but the public desperately wants something new. And manufacturers are forced to take this into account.

Let's move on to other elements of the Galaxy S9 and S9+. In terms of technical characteristics, they differ, but not as much as they could be - all the details are presented in a short table. Well, a traditional detail is the use of two hardware platforms at once. In the US, both smartphones will be based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, and in Europe and Russia - based on the Exynos 9810. There will be no big differences in performance, but the need to use different platforms is determined by the support of the necessary frequencies, LTE bands, as well as certain legal issues.

For the first time, protection from dust and moisture (IP68 level, as before) did not prevent the Koreans from installing two speakers and implementing stereo sound. I'm still convinced that listening to music through an external speaker forever closes the door to heaven, but with audio from the video social networks he's doing quite well. In itself, the appearance of a second speaker is, in general, a trifle, but it just so happens that this was implemented in the iPhone several years earlier. However, when it comes to sound, the best part has to be the presence of a 3.5mm audio jack. It has not been on the iPhone for a long time, as well as on the Google Pixel 2, HTC U11, and now in . Samsung is still not going to give up this harmless connector.

The design hasn't changed much compared to the Galaxy S8 and S8+. Except that the new 6.2-inch model has two camera lenses on the back, arranged vertically. Otherwise, no differences are visible. The edges of the screen are still curved and create a feeling of complete framelessness, and the body itself is completely glossy and incredibly easily soiled. Even a short hold in the hand destroys the primordial appearance. It's no secret - this is only necessary so that the smartphone looks beautiful on the display window; the practical side of the issue is of little concern to the manufacturer.

At the presentation, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ were presented in four colors, but it is already known that only three will come to Russia at first: black diamond, titanium and ultraviolet. The most beautiful one is the blue one, which is visible in some photographs; most likely, we will not sell it. At least in white retail. It remains to add that sales of the Galaxy S9 and S9+ will start on March 16 at prices starting from 59,990 rubles for the Galaxy S9 and from 66,990 rubles for the Galaxy S9+. The maximum configuration of the older model will cost an impressive 74,990 rubles. In Europe, prices will be approximately 840 euros for the Galaxy S9 and 990 euros for the Galaxy S9+.

There will be no conclusion yet - we only have a preliminary review. But one thing is for sure: Samsung once again does not disappoint. And despite the fact that the S9 and S9+ are not so different from the flagships of the previous generation, they look incomparable against the background of the new products of their closest competitors at MWC 2018. So we're looking forward to seeing both handsets in our testing lab. Don't switch!

date Samsung release remains remote for about three months, but this does not interfere with the flow of news and rumors that pop up almost daily. Including the big Galaxy S9 Plus. In this article, we'll look at the latest Galaxy S9 release information, news and rumors, and everything we've heard about Samsung's new flagship so far.

Despite still being a fairly new smartphone, potential buyers are already looking ahead to next year. And with reports of an early January release date, a world-class camera and a new fingerprint scanner, the Galaxy S9 is gaining fans.
Every year, Samsung releases a Galaxy S series device in the first half of the year, followed by a larger Note phablet later. As a result, there's nothing surprising about the steady stream of rumors surrounding the 2018 Galaxy S9.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 tells us a lot about the upcoming Galaxy S9. Then, as the device's release approaches, more and more information goes onto the Internet. We don't know much yet, but below we'll break down some of the most interesting rumors to give us some insight into the new phone.

Galaxy S9 release date: Rumors suggest a release date in January-February, earlier than previous years;
How much does Galaxy S9 cost: 44,500 – 54,000 rubles (just guesses);
What is Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus? Premium flagship smartphone Samsung, which offers the latest specifications and features every new year. Featuring a large curved edgeless Infinity AMOLED screen, world-class cameras and the latest Android versions. Samsung will release two phones again - Galaxy S9 and big Galaxy S9 Plus.

Now that you know some of the basics and we've answered some important questions, here's the latest news and rumors.

Galaxy S9 release: Rumors
We know that Samsung and the Galaxy Note 8 are fairly recent devices, but Samsung is already busy working on the next phone. In fact, we're hearing reports and rumors that Samsung started production back in May, almost five months earlier than usual. Some leaks suggest that mass production of the phone will begin as early as December 2017.

If these rumors are true, we could see the phone announced in early January with a release date in mid-February. Earlier than any other flagship in recent years. New smartphone will most likely compete with Apple. A new report from SamMobile suggests that the Galaxy S9 will be announced before Mobile World Congress in February. This is a major exhibition that Samsung has used in recent years to announce its smartphones.

In 2017, the Galaxy S8 saw a slight delay due to a battery upgrade, an important step after the failure of the Galaxy Note 7. The phone was announced in March and released in late April. Almost a month later, which came out a year before. However, the Galaxy S6 arrived in February ahead of Mobile World Congress, so the rumor has some historical basis.

However, celebrity tester Evan Blass suggested a different plan for Samsung. According to his sources, the Galaxy S9 and the larger Galaxy S9 Plus are expected to be briefly announced at CES in January. However, he believes that the full release will take place in March, hitting store shelves in late March or early April.

Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus: Display
Early rumors indicate that Samsung plans to release two Galaxy S9 smartphones early next year. The regular model will feature a 5.77-inch Infinity AMOLED screen, while the larger Galaxy smartphone S9 Plus will come with a diagonal of 6.22 inches. Sounds familiar? Because it Galaxy sizes S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus.

These two smartphones will hit the market with 5.8 and 6.2 inches designations, offering the latest technology screen from Samsung. Building on the success and popularity of the edge-to-edge curved screens of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8.

Another thing we've heard is that Samsung may trim down the bezels more to get closer to the style of the iPhone X. Samsung has been trying to put a fingerprint scanner on the glass display for years, but the technology isn't ready yet. It could be implemented in 2018, but if it doesn't, Samsung could use a notch at the bottom of the screen and return the physical fingerprint scanner to the front of the device.

The latest rumors in late November suggested that Samsung would keep the fingerprint scanner on the back. Only this time it will be located under the camera, like on most Android smartphones, instead of on the left side, where it is more difficult to reach.

Galaxy S9 Specifications: Rumors
It's too early to say anything concrete about new Galaxy S9. However, every year we see similar updates in key areas. This gives us some idea of what to expect with the new smartphone. While we haven't heard some interesting things about the Galaxy S9, we won't have long to wait before we discuss the new product.

So far, everything points to Samsung sticking to a tick-tock release cycle. Basically, the Galaxy S9 will be very similar to the Galaxy S8. Just like the S6 and S7 had a similar design. Another leak believes that Samsung's new dual camera sensors will be quite impressive, with the ability to capture up to 1000 frames per second. Here is a selection of the characteristics of the new smartphone based on the rumors received.

Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus specs (rumored):
5.8- and 6.2-inch AMOLED display (2880 x 1440) | Curved Infinity Display;

Reliable leaker Benjamin Geskin is already reporting something similar on his Twitter feed, along with official images of the Galaxy S9 logos. And while he has been wrong in the past, he also offers reliable information most of the time. His sources suggest that the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus are equipped with dual rear cameras, which will be better than the Galaxy Note 8.
On the other hand, Evan Blass claims that only the Galaxy S9 Plus will have two cameras, as well as 6GB of RAM. It's too early to say, we'll find out soon enough.

Basically, the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus should offer more models current year. Stunning designs, beautiful edge-to-edge screens, high-performance cameras and the latest hardware and software. We expect more information as 2018 approaches.

Galaxy S9 concept photos
With every upcoming phone, we see a wave of concept photos and videos from fans. Typically, they rely on the latest news and rumors, as well as the creators' vision of what the new flagship should look like. You can find plenty of photos and videos of the Galaxy S9 online, but the best ones come from YouTube channel Waqar Khan.

Fantastic Galaxy S9 concept with dedicated fingerprint scanner.

The first few contenders match everything we've heard about the new device. Narrowing of the bezels surrounding the screen, returning the fingerprint scanner to the front of the phone, and adding a dual camera to the back of the Galaxy S9. Again, concept photos are made by fans and are not official.

At some point the photographs and Additional Information will go online directly from Samsung partners or accessory developers, offering a better idea of what to expect next. For now, these concepts are enough to attract buyers to the new Samsung phone. You can also find a very recent CAD rendering.

There is also a simple image from TechConfigurations where various concept images for smartphones appear. This design suggests that Samsung will use an optical fingerprint scanner embedded under the glass of the screen, promising us a truly edge-to-edge screen.

Again, these are nothing more than a few fan photos.

Galaxy S9: Price and other details
Finally, I would like to talk about the potential price and some other small details. We've heard that Samsung has started working on the new S9 a few months earlier than usual. If so, we might get new phones earlier in 2018.

Reports claim that the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus are codenamed "Star" and "Star2" within Samsung. Next, we plan to monitor any other information and share with you any data that is trustworthy. It is even in development, internally called “Crown”.

Samsung Galaxy S9 will have dual cameras on the back.
Other details from the latest leaks indicate that the Galaxy S9 Plus will have slight improvements over the Galaxy S9, which will not limit its differences to the larger screen. Samsung also plans to release several new accessories, including the DeX flat dock, which also integrates a keyboard and allows you to work on your phone like you would on a computer.

It remains only to clarify how much these smartphones cost? Phones continue to get more expensive every year. The Galaxy S8 costs less than $800, but if all the above features are implemented, the price will rise. Earlier this year, the Galaxy Note 8 hit store shelves with a price tag of 58,000 rubles, making it Samsung's most expensive smartphone. We don't expect the price to be as high, but it could get close.

This is all the information we have so far about the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus. As December approaches, we expect more details. We will keep you informed.
