In a large family Alcatel smartphones Serie A has always occupied a prominent place. Side by side with the flagship Idol models are less expensive ones, but at the same time not the most low level mid-range A line, which sometimes captivate with a successful combination of good technical characteristics and affordable prices. Last fall, the new A7 and A7 XL series products were presented in Berlin, and by now they have become noticeably cheaper, and therefore the Alcatel A7 model has become even more attractive and deserves a detailed review.

Contents of delivery

Alcatel A7 is sold in a simple, no-frills package made of hard cardboard. The box is quite large and contains a decent set of related accessories.

The kit consists of a USB cable, a network adapter with support fast charging(5 or 9 V; 2 or 1.67 A), as well as stereo headsets with in-ear headphones with a set of rubber pads and paper documentation.

Appearance and ease of use

The Alcatel A7 has an old-fashioned, one might even say “old-school” design with a flat front glass and a removable plastic cover - something we often saw on inexpensive smartphones of yesteryear.

You could forgive the plastic cover that crunches under your fingers and comes loose only in one case: if it covered the removable battery. Then it would truly be a universal mobile device, everything we once loved. But here the battery is tightly sealed, so there is no point in having a removable cover, except perhaps to make the design cheaper and easier to manufacture.

The lid here is precisely a one-piece casing that completely covers not only the back part, but also the sides. There are no special complaints about the assembly, but this solution certainly cannot be called reliable and durable. The rough plastic does not slip out of your hands, and the smartphone lies securely in your hand.

The camera module barely protrudes beyond the surface, so it is quite possible to use the device lying on the table - it does not wobble when you touch the screen.

The fingerprint scanner is located symmetrically relative to the camera module, it is also framed by a golden rim, all this together looks quite presentable. There are no complaints about the operation of the fingerprint scanner; recognition is clear.

The front panel is completely covered protective glass produced by AGC Dragontrail. The glass does not have sloping edges, it is completely flat. There's a useful LED event indicator at the top, as well as its own fairly bright LED flash, which is good news.

There is a slot cut in the lower part for the loudspeaker, it, like the upper one, is framed by a thick golden rim, and it looks like a real “gypsy”, there’s no other way to say it. If you put aside your taste preferences, placing the speakers on the front panel would be justified if they worked in a stereo pair, but this is not the case here. There is no central oval button or touch-sensitive hardware buttons below the screen; The buttons here are only on-screen.

There are no special complaints about the side keys. At least they were installed on one side, and not spread across two sides. The keys are a little hard and don’t protrude much beyond the surface, but you can feel them.

The card slot is not hybrid or even double. Unexpectedly, under the cover there was only a single slot for a Nano-SIM format SIM card, and next to it there was a card slot microSD memory.

At the top end you can see the hole for the second microphone, and a 3.5 mm audio output for headphones is also preserved.

Again, we see that manufacturers are slowing down the process of a general transition to USB Type-C: Micro-USB connector is installed here.

The Alcatel A7 is available for sale in only one color – black with gold trim on individual elements.

Screen

Alcatel A7 is equipped with an IPS display covered with flat AGC Dragontrail protective glass without curved edges. The physical dimensions of the screen are 68x121 mm with a diagonal of 5.5 inches. The display resolution is 1920x1080, that is, the pixel density is about 401 ppi. The frame around the screen is not the narrowest: on the sides, taking into account the protruding sidewalls, about 4 mm, and on the top and bottom - 15 mm, but here it is necessary to take into account the speakers built in at the top and bottom, located in the frontal plane, so there are such wide gaps here justified.

It is possible to use automatic brightness adjustment based on the operation of the ambient light sensor. Multi-touch tests diagnose support for 10 simultaneous touches.

A detailed examination using measuring instruments was carried out by the editor of the “Monitors” and “Projectors and TV” sections Alexey Kudryavtsev. Here is his expert opinion on the screen of the sample under study.

The front surface of the screen is made in the form of a glass plate with a mirror-smooth surface that is scratch-resistant. Judging by the reflection of objects, the anti-glare properties of the screen are approximately the same as those of the Google Nexus 7 (2013) screen (hereinafter simply Nexus 7). For clarity, here is a photograph in which a white surface is reflected in the switched off screens (on the left - Nexus 7, on the right - Alcatel A7, then they can be distinguished by size):

The Alcatel A7's screen is slightly lighter (its brightness in the photo is 120 versus 119 for the Nexus 7). The ghosting of reflected objects in the Alcatel A7 screen is very weak, this indicates that there is no air gap between the layers of the screen (more specifically, between the outer glass and the surface of the LCD matrix) (OGS - One Glass Solution type screen). Due to the smaller number of boundaries (glass/air type) with very different refractive indices, such screens look better in conditions of intense external illumination, but their repair in the case of cracked external glass is much more expensive, since the entire screen has to be replaced. The outer surface of the screen has a special oleophobic (grease-repellent) coating (effective, better than that of the Nexus 7), so fingerprints are removed much more easily and appear at a lower speed than with regular glass.

When manually controlling brightness and when outputting a white field full screen the maximum brightness value was about 515 cd/m², the minimum - 17 cd/m². The maximum brightness is very high, and, given the good anti-glare properties, screen readability even on a sunny day outdoors should be at a decent level, but not everything is so good - see below. In complete darkness, the brightness can be reduced to a comfortable value. There is automatic brightness adjustment based on the light sensor (it is located to the right of the front speaker slot). IN automatic mode When external lighting conditions change, the screen brightness both increases and decreases. The operation of this function depends on the position of the brightness adjustment slider. If it is 100%, then in complete darkness the auto-brightness function reduces the brightness to 60 cd/m² (bright), in an office illuminated by artificial light (about 550 lux) it sets it to 260 cd/m² (normal), in a very bright environment (corresponding to lighting on a clear day outdoors, but without direct sunlight - 20,000 lux or a little more), the brightness increases to 515 cd/m² (to the maximum, as needed). If the slider is approximately 50%, then the values are as follows: 20, 100 and 515 cd/m² (in principle, normal), and if the slider is at 0% - 2, 20 and 515 cd/m² (the first and second values are too low). We weren't entirely happy with the result, so we set the slider to about 60% and got the following values: 20, 150 and 515 cd/m² (ideal). It turns out that the auto-brightness function works adequately and allows the user to customize their work to individual requirements. At any brightness level, there is no significant backlight modulation, so there is no screen flicker.

IN this smartphone An IPS type matrix is used. The microphotographs show a typical IPS subpixel structure:

For comparison, you can see the gallery of microphotographs of screens used in mobile technology.

The screen has good viewing angles without significant color shift even with large viewing deviations from perpendicular to the screen and without inverting shades. For comparison, here are photographs in which the same images are displayed on the Alcatel A7 and Nexus 7 screens, while the screen brightness is initially set to approximately 200 cd/m², and color balance on the camera it is forcibly switched to 6500 K.

There is a white field perpendicular to the screens:

Note the good uniformity of brightness and color tone of the white field.

And a test picture:

The colors on the Alcatel A7's screen have a natural saturation; the color balance between the Nexus 7 and the tested screen is slightly different.

Now at an angle of approximately 45 degrees to the plane and to the side of the screen:

It can be seen that the colors have not changed much on both screens, but on the Alcatel A7 the contrast has decreased to a greater extent due to the greater brightening of blacks.

And a white field:

The brightness at an angle of the screens decreased (at least 5 times, based on the difference in shutter speed), and decreased approximately equally. When deviated diagonally, the black field becomes very bright and acquires a purple tint. The photographs below demonstrate this (the brightness of the white areas in the direction perpendicular to the plane of the screens is the same!):

And from another angle:

When viewed perpendicularly, the uniformity of the black field is very poor (the backlight brightness of the Alcatel A7 is set to maximum):

The contrast (approximately in the center of the screen) is high - about 1100:1. The response time for the black-white-black transition is 18 ms (10 ms on + 8 ms off). The transition between halftones of gray 25% and 75% (based on the numerical value of the color) and back takes a total of 27 ms. The gamma curve, constructed using 32 points with equal intervals based on the numerical value of the shade of gray, did not reveal any blockage in either the highlights or the shadows. Approximating indicator power function is 2.24, which is close to the standard value of 2.2. In this case, the real gamma curve deviates slightly from the power-law dependence:

Due to the aggressive dynamic adjustment of the backlight brightness in accordance with the nature of the output image (in dark areas the brightness decreases), the resulting dependence of brightness on hue (gamma curve) does not correspond to the gamma curve of a static image, since the measurements were carried out with sequential output of shades of gray almost throughout screen. For this reason, we carried out a number of tests - determining contrast and response time, comparing black illumination at angles - when displaying special templates with a constant average brightness, and not monochromatic fields in the entire screen. In general, non-disabled brightness correction does nothing but harm, since in the case of dark images it reduces the visibility of gradations in shadows and the readability of the screen in bright light, and constant changes in screen brightness can cause discomfort for the user.

Color gamut is close to sRGB:

The spectra show that the matrix filters moderately mix the components with each other:

As a result, the colors have a natural saturation and hue. The balance of shades on the gray scale is good, since the color temperature is not much higher than the standard 6500 K and the deviation from the blackbody spectrum (ΔE) is below 10, which is considered an acceptable indicator for a consumer device. Moreover, both parameters change little from shade to shade - this has a positive effect on the visual assessment of color balance. (The darkest areas of the gray scale can be ignored, since color balance there is not very important, and the error in measuring color characteristics at low brightness is large.)

This device has a fairly advanced system of profiles and settings, which provides the ability to adjust color balance, etc. It’s called MiraVision.

The curves in the graphs above Without corr. correspond to the results without any color balance correction, and the curves Corr.— data obtained after shifting the color temperature correction slider to the position shown in the picture. It can be seen that the change in balance corresponds to the expected result, since the color temperature has approached the standard value, while the ΔE value has increased, but still remains below 10. It is possible to perform such a correction, but there is no particular reason for it.

To summarize: the screen has a very high maximum brightness and has good anti-glare properties, so the device can most likely be used outdoors even on a sunny summer day without any problems. In complete darkness, the brightness can be reduced to a comfortable level. There is also a mode with automatic brightness adjustment, which works adequately. The advantages of the screen include the absence of an air gap in the layers of the screen and flicker, an effective oleophobic coating, high contrast, a color gamut close to sRGB and an acceptable color balance. Significant disadvantages include low black stability in response to gaze deviation from perpendicular to the screen plane, poor uniformity of the black field and non-disabled dynamic adjustment of the backlight brightness. Taking into account the importance of the characteristics for this particular class of devices, the screen quality can be considered at least not low.

Camera

The front camera of the Alcatel A7 has a matrix resolution of 8 megapixels, a lens aperture of f/2.0, nothing special. This is how she shoots: the detail is low, the image is dark, and in any case the texture of the skin is frankly unattractively conveyed.

There is a bright front flash, so in poor lighting conditions you can take good self-portraits for such a situation.

The main camera uses a module with a 16 MP sensor resolution and the same f/2.0 lens. This camera does not have a second rear module. Autofocus is adequate, there is electronic stabilization, and the flash is not very bright. In terms of settings and controls, the camera is quite simple; it doesn’t even have the portrait mode with background blur that has become mandatory for most manufacturers. The camera control interface is simple, all settings are collected in a single menu, there is no separate manual control mode. There is no option to save pictures in RAW.

The camera can shoot video in a maximum resolution of only 1080p, 4K is not supported. There is electronic stabilization, and it really tries to make handheld shooting smoother, but at the same time, as is most often the case, it adds noticeable “jelly-like” distortion to the image.

The quality of the camera's video recording is not amazing, the image is dark and looks blurry due to not the highest detail, autofocus is sometimes slow. Color rendition and white balance are normal. If there is road or wind noise, then the noise reduction system during operation introduces distortion in the form of an echo; in quiet plans with sound recording everything is much better.

  • Video No. 1 (20 MB, 1920×1080@30 fps, H.264, AAC)
  • Video No. 2 (29 MB, 1920×1080@30 fps, H.264, AAC)
  • Video No. 3 (24 MB, 1920×1080@30 fps, H.264, AAC)
  • Video No. 4 (21 MB, 1920×1080@30 fps, H.264, AAC)
  • Video No. 5 (25 MB, 1920×1080@30 fps, H.264, AAC)
  • Video No. 6 (26 MB, 1920×1080@30 fps, H.264, AAC)

The camera is pretty average. Due to excessive software processing, detail quickly decreases with the removal of the plan, large areas of blur appear at the edges, and software artifacts are clearly visible in close-ups. However, the camera handles foreground and even middle plans well, but in this form it is only suitable for documentary shooting.

Telephone and communications

The smartphone supports multiple bands LTE frequencies Cat.6 (300/150 Mbit/s) FDD, including all three used in Russia (Band 3, 7, 20). Within the city limits of the Moscow region, the smartphone works stably in the networks of domestic operators, confidently maintains the 4G network, and quickly restores communications after a break.

The Wi-Fi module supports only one band (2.4 GHz), but it has NFC, which fully works with Android Pay and Troika travel cards, which is good news.

The navigation module works with both GPS (with A-GPS) and the domestic Glonass, without the Chinese Beidou. During a cold start, the first satellites are detected within the first minute. The device has a magnetic compass, necessary for navigation programs.

The phone application supports Smart Dial. The settings for sorting and displaying contacts in the phone book are standard for Android. In the conversational dynamics, the sound is somewhat muffled, but legible. Vibration alert is below average in power.

Software and multimedia

As software platform used Google Android 7.0, without additional shells, and it’s not easy to find differences from the pure Android OS here. Only a few programs have been added, including a comprehensive phone manager, called here “Defender,” although this program monitors not only the penetration of viruses, but also memory consumption, power consumption, etc. Work with gestures is limited only to turning the case over.

To listen to music, you use your own audio player with a familiar interface that does not have manual settings. There is no equalizer here, but in the settings section of the smartphone itself you are offered to choose from presets with Dirac effects (music, cinema or games). The sound of the smartphone both in headphones and through the speaker is average: the sound is simple, but clear. This is, of course, not a top-end or audiophile level, but the sound of this generally inexpressive Alcatel device is definitely not a weak point. There is a built-in FM radio.

Performance

The hardware platform is built on a single-chip system MediaTek MT6750T, made using 28-nanometer technology. This SoC includes eight 64-bit ARM Cortex-A53 cores in two clusters: 4 cores with a frequency of up to 1 GHz and 4 cores with a frequency of up to 1.5 GHz. A dual-core Mali-T860 (MP2) GPU with a frequency of 650 MHz is responsible for graphics processing. The amount of RAM is 3 GB, and the built-in flash memory is 32 GB. Of these, approximately 1.3 GB of RAM and about 24 GB of internal storage are free.

It is possible to expand the memory by installing a microSD card (up to 128 GB). Our review Transcend Premium microSDXC UHS-1 128GB card was easily recognized by the device. You can install applications on the memory card. It is also possible to connect external flash drives in USB OTG mode.

MT6750T is a SoC entry level, designed for budget smartphones and tablets. Now MediaTek has more interesting solutions in this segment. The platform is weak, especially in the graphics component, the Vulkan API is not supported. However, it still copes with most tasks, you can even play games. For example, Mortal Kombat X runs on a smartphone without noticeable slowdowns. However, such a platform naturally does not have any power reserves for future updates.

Testing in comprehensive tests AnTuTu and GeekBench:

All the results we obtained when testing the smartphone in the most latest versions popular benchmarks, we have summarized them in tables for convenience. The table usually adds several other devices from different segments, also tested on similar latest versions benchmarks (this is done only for a visual assessment of the obtained dry figures). Unfortunately, within the framework of one comparison it is impossible to present the results from different versions benchmarks, so many worthy and relevant models remain “behind the scenes” - due to the fact that at one time they passed the “obstacle course” on previous versions test programs.

Browser cross-platform tests:

As for benchmarks for assessing the speed of the javascript engine, you should always make allowance for the fact that their results significantly depend on the browser in which they are launched, so the comparison can only be truly correct on the same OS and browsers, and this is possible during testing not always. For Android OS, we always try to use Google Chrome.

Thermal photographs

Below is a thermal image rear surface obtained after 10 minutes of battery testing in the GFXBenchmark program:

The heating is localized in the upper left part of the device, which apparently corresponds to the location of the SoC chip. According to the heat chamber, the maximum heating was 40 degrees (at an ambient temperature of 24 degrees), which is relatively little.

Playing video

To test omnivorousness when playing video (including support for various codecs, containers and special features, for example subtitles), we used the most common formats, which make up the bulk of the content available on the Web. Note that for mobile devices It is important to have support for hardware video decoding at the chip level, since it is most often impossible to process modern options using processor cores alone. Also, you shouldn’t expect a mobile device to decode everything, since the leadership in flexibility belongs to the PC, and no one is going to challenge it. All results are summarized in a table.

Further testing of video playback was performed Alexey Kudryavtsev.

We did not find the MHL interface, like Mobility DisplayPort, in this smartphone, so we had to limit ourselves to testing the output of video files on the screen of the device itself. For this we used the set test files with an arrow and a rectangle moving one division per frame (see “Methods for testing video playback and display devices. Version 1 (for mobile devices)”). Screenshots with a shutter speed of 1 s helped determine the nature of the output of frames of video files with various parameters: the resolution varied (1280 by 720 (720p), 1920 by 1080 (1080p) and 3840 by 2160 (4K) pixels) and frame rate (24, 25, 30, 50 and 60 fps). In the tests we used the MX Player video player in the “Hardware” mode. The test results are summarized in the table:

And Passes Green ratings are given, this means that, most likely, when watching films, artifacts caused by uneven alternation and frame skipping will either not be visible at all, or their number and visibility will not affect the viewing comfort. Red marks indicate possible problems related to the playback of the corresponding files.

According to the frame output criterion, the quality of playback of video files on the screen of the smartphone itself is good, since in most cases frames (or groups of frames) can (but are not required) be output with more or less uniform alternation of intervals and without skipping frames. Note that in the case of files with 60 fps, at least 3 frames per second are skipped, but more often - more, and several in a row. The reason is the atypically low screen refresh rate of 57 Hz. When playing video files with a resolution of 1080p (1920 by 1080 pixels), the image of the actual video file is displayed exactly at the edges of the screen in the original resolution. The brightness range displayed on the screen corresponds to the actual range: all gradations of shades are displayed in the shadows and highlights.

Battery life

The non-removable battery of the Alcatel A7 has a very respectable capacity of 4000 mAh. As a result, nothing prevented the device from demonstrating a decent level battery life in all modes, although the smartphone does not break any records.

In real life, the Alcatel A7 with not the most powerful hardware is, in principle, capable of lasting two days without recharging, everything will depend on the usage scenario.

Testing has traditionally been carried out at the usual level of power consumption without using power saving functions, although the device has them.

Continuous reading in the FBReader program (with a standard, light theme) at a minimum comfortable brightness level (brightness was set to 100 cd/m²) lasted about 16 hours until the battery was completely discharged, and when continuously watching videos in high quality(720p) with the same brightness level via home Wi-Fi network The device operates for up to 10 hours. In 3D gaming mode, the smartphone can work for up to 7 hours.

From the included network adapter, the smartphone is charged with a current of 1.8-1.6 A at a voltage of 9 V; it takes about 2 hours to fully charge. Wireless charger not supported.

Bottom line

At the time of preparation of the review, the price of a certified Alcatel A7 in official Russian retail has dropped to 11 thousand rubles. The smartphone is generally not bad, and at such a price you don’t want to find fault with it. The Alcatel A7 has a decent quality display with a normal high resolution and an excellent high-speed multi-band LTE modem (Cat. 6) for its level. The cameras are nothing to praise particularly, but even they have some advantages (the front camera, for example, can help out in limited lighting conditions due to the presence of a bright flash of its own). Sound, autonomy, performance - not at a high, but at a quite satisfactory level. I was especially pleased with the presence of full-fledged NFC in the smartphone for working with Android Pay and Troika travel cards. As a result, we get for 11 thousand interesting solution, which you can go and buy from retail stores without the long wait from China.

The main difference between the Alcatel smartphone One Touch POP C7" - many body colors: black, blue, white and pink. This model will certainly find fans, so we should talk about it in more detail.

Design, size, control elements

Let's start with the fact that the Alcatel One Touch POP C7 phone looks similar to most available smartphones running Android: classic back and front panels, plastic, rectangular shape and sloping edges. For a device with a 5-inch display diagonal, the dimensions are relatively compact - 141x71.8x9.9 mm. The smartphone fits well in the hand, which is guaranteed rounded corners, smooth sides and non-slip surface. Fingerprints are quickly and easily removed from the screen. The marks on the back panel are almost invisible. The screen is protected by glass, making it extremely scratch resistant. As for the opinion of the owners of the Alcatel One Touch POP C7, reviews indicate that this model I received a fairly well-made case. Indeed, there are no backlashes here. The back cover to the battery does not bend and does not make any sounds when squeezed. The event indicator is located on the top of the front panel. It lights up or flashes. The voice speaker is located to the right of this element. Its volume is high, medium audible and the timbre does not cause irritation, the interlocutor can be clearly heard, the owner will also be heard well. To the right of the microphone - and lighting. They work correctly and respond quickly. Below are touch buttons: “Menu”, “Home”, “Back”. They are marked with translucent white paint and have a similar color backlight.

The standard headphone jack is located on top panel, micro-USB - on the bottom. The left side is empty. Slightly above the center, on the right panel, there is a volume and power key. Both control elements are easy to detect, although they are almost completely immersed in the housing. As for the speakerphone, it is hidden behind a special grille. In addition, it is curious that the camera rises slightly above the body. The back of the device contains a second microphone, which provides noise reduction and a flash. You can open the lid by supporting it by the lower left corner. Below it, on top, is a microSD slot, just below is a pair of SIM cards, the first of which supports second and third generation communication standards, and the second - only 2G.

Display

The Alcatel One Touch POP C7 has a screen diagonal of 5 inches. The physical size is 63x111 mm. The frame on top is 14, and on the sides - 4 millimeters. Resolution is 480x854 pixels, and pixelation is not particularly noticeable. Density - 195 PPI. The screen matrix is made using TFT-LCD technology. In case of direct viewing, the image quality is good. The capacitive touch layer supports a couple of simultaneous touches. The sensitivity of the Alcatel One Touch POP C7 is excellent.

Battery

This model has a 1900 mAh battery. The device can withstand 12.5 hours of talk time or 630 hours of standby time. When playing video, the device can work for about 5 hours. The average battery life is 10-12 hours, if you do not use the phone too actively in the 3G standard. The device charges in 2.5 hours. In addition, the settings include the “Super Energy Saving” item. This mode disables almost all applications, reduces the brightness of the backlight, only the main functions remain active: address book, calendar, calls, SMS. Although mobile device manufacturers regularly replenish their range with new models, you can still find those devices that were released 3-4 years ago. One of these gadgets is the Alcatel One Touch POP C7 (7041D). The phone went on sale in 2014. The manufacturer presented several different color solutions. The buyer was offered the following options to choose from: classic - white and black, bright youth - pink and blue. This model cannot be called super popular, since its technical characteristics are not outstanding, but it also has its fans. There is a certain category of people who liked this phone. Next we will consider the strengths and weak sides this device. We will also study in detail the reviews of the owners.

Let's look in the box

The packaging of the Alcatel One Touch POP C7 phone looks quite attractive. The manufacturer took white as the basis. On the side edges there are inserts in soft pink, orange and blue. Most likely, this is how the manufacturer showed the variety of colors in this line. On the front panel there is an image of a smartphone. There is a title above it. The box itself is cardboard and quite thick.

Looking into it, you can see the device packed in a cellophane bag. It comes with documentation, which includes a user manual, a certificate and a warranty card indicating free service for a year. Also in the box you can see a stereo headset. It is entry-level, but is equipped with a control button and a microphone. In order to be able to charge the battery and connect to devices with a USB port, the package includes a data cable and an AC adapter. Other accessories can be purchased additionally. Stores offer a large number of different covers for this model, which will help preserve the original for a long time. appearance phone.

Case Features

When it comes to the case, the Alcatel One Touch POP C7 receives rave reviews. Almost all owners noticed that the phone fits comfortably in the hand thanks to the sloping edges. The body itself has a rectangular shape. The front and back panels can hardly be called expressive, since there are no bright or catchy elements on them. However, thanks to the matte plastic with Soft Touch coating, the phone does not collect fingerprints. This is an undeniable advantage for those who do not like to use cases.

In some reviews, owners noticed that with quite standard sizes(height - 141 mm, width - 71.8 mm, thickness - 9.9 mm) the phone is quite heavy. It weighs more than 160 g. When compared with other similar models, for example, the iPhone 5 or Nexus 5, they are 30 g lighter. This difference is quite noticeable.

The plastic that the manufacturer used for the case can be damaged, but you will have to make an effort. It is not advisable to carry your phone in your pocket along with keys or other iron objects, as they leave scratches.

Users do not make any comments about the build quality of the phone. There is no play or squeaking even when pressed hard.

Design

As mentioned above, the Alcatel One Touch POP C7 does not have an original design. It is a typical smartphone. On the front panel, most of the space is devoted to the screen. Above it, the developers installed an indicator that notifies the owner about missed events. It glows white. The earpiece is located in the center at the top. Users claim that the volume is high and the subscriber’s speech will be heard clearly and legibly. To the right of the speaker there are proximity and lighting sensors. Users have no comments regarding their work. Below the screen is a standard control panel. It has three touch buttons. Unfortunately, the developers used dim backlighting, but the buttons are easy to recognize.

At the bottom end of the Alcatel One Touch POP C7 you can see a micro-USB connector. The owners consider this arrangement convenient. On the opposite side is the audio port. The side right side is equipped with two keys, with which you turn on and lock the phone, and also adjust the volume.

The smartphone is equipped with two SIM card slots. One of them works with second and third generation networks. The second one only supports 2G. They are located under back cover above the battery. There is also a port for micro-SD memory cards.

Alcatel One Touch POP C7: display characteristics

This phone model attracts the attention of buyers with its 5-inch screen. However, even considering its large size, some discomfort is felt when using it. It can be explained by the not very popular TFT technology. This matrix has long been known for poor color rendering and narrow viewing angles. To this it is also necessary to add the far from high resolution, which is only 854x480 px. The density is low - 195 ppi. However, users claim that pixelation is not noticeable to the naked eye. This phone model has a multi-touch function. It is designed for two simultaneous touches. The sensor works well and clearly, sensitivity is at a high level.

Photos for memory

Alcatel One Touch POP C7 has two cameras. The main one is located on the back of the phone and is based on a 5-megapixel matrix. As for the front, its resolution is critically low - only 0.3 megapixels.

The shooting quality is below average. The range of the lens is quite narrow. The only thing that can be attributed to the advantages of this optics is the shutter speed and optimal white balance. Considering that this phone is inexpensive, such characteristics were quite expected.

Cameras can be used to record videos. The main one works with Full HD resolution. Recording is carried out at a speed of 30 frames per second. There is autofocus, but the flash is very small. The maximum resolution of the front camera allows you to work with video mode in 640x480 format. Shooting with this sensor is carried out at a speed of 20 frames per second.

Hardware

The characteristics of the Alcatel One Touch POP C7 phone are quite consistent with the budget phones of 2014. Most smartphones at that time were equipped with processors from trademark MediaTek. It is based on 4 computing modules. Their type is Cortex-A7. Under load, the clock frequency increases to 1300 megahertz. The developers paired with the main MT6582 chipset installed graphics accelerator for 2 Mali-400 MP2 cores. It works with clock frequency at 400 megahertz.

Such characteristics allow you to use the phone quite comfortably. The gadget performs all everyday tasks quickly and smoothly. The only problems can arise only when turning on powerful games or resource-intensive applications.

The amount of RAM also did not surprise users. The device uses only 512 MB. However, in fairness, we note that three years ago phones with a large resource were extremely rare.

In order to download user files, the device has an integrated memory of 4 GB. You shouldn’t count on all the storage, since half is already occupied system files. However, support saves the situation external drives. The device works with memory cards with a maximum capacity of 32 GB.

The Alcatel brand phone is based on the well-known Android platform. It uses version 4.2.2.

Battery and battery life

Alcatel One Touch POP C7 is equipped with a removable battery. The battery is lithium-ion, rated at 1900 milliamps per hour. This resource will be enough:

  • for 24 hours when listening to music;
  • about 600 hours in standby mode;
  • for approximately 10 hours with active conversation.

It will take two and a half hours to charge the battery. Most owners noted positive reviews of the presence of a charge saving mode. When activated, only the main functions of the phone work; thanks to disabling the rest, the battery life lasts for three to four days.

Alcatel One Touch POP C7 (7041D): reviews

So, let's summarize this review. Based on reviews from owners, we can highlight a certain list of advantages. These include:

  • Excellent build quality.
  • Non-marking plastic case.
  • Relatively long battery life.
  • Decent performance.

Of course, there were some negative reviews. Some owners, leaving them, focused on the weak camera and low screen resolution. According to most, these characteristics could be much better. Dissatisfaction was also caused by the typical, no different design. Unfortunately, the manufacturer did not even try to introduce new original features into the design of the case. The only thing the update is limited to is the addition of blue and pink options to the product range. But this is no longer enough for the modern user.
