Buying Meizu smartphone, users often receive a non-Russified device with a dozen unknown Chinese applications. Today we will tell you how to install international firmware with Russian language using the Meizu M2 Note as an example.

Meizu smartphone firmware

Firmware for Meizu comes in five types: Unicom (U) and China Mobile (C) - operator versions intended for China, YunOS (Y) - version developed jointly with Alibaba also for the Chinese market, Universal (A) - universal firmware suitable for all countries, it can be installed instead of all the previous ones, and finally International (I) - the international version, it is with this firmware that Meizu smartphones are officially supplied to the markets of Russia and Ukraine.

As you understand, the last option interests us. The international firmware contains Russian and Ukrainian languages, Google services are installed out of the box and there is no pre-installed Chinese software. But here’s the problem - if you “roll” it instead of any other version, we will get the “Firmware corrupt” error. From our instructions you will learn what steps you need to take to prevent this from happening.

The whole process can be divided into 3 stages:

  1. Install A firmware via Recovery;
  2. We obtain root rights and change the ID using a special script;
  3. Install the firmware via Recovery.

Looking ahead, I want to say that fulfilling the second point will be the most difficult. In general, I won’t bore you any longer, let’s get started!

1. Installing A firmware

9. Go down and click on “System privileges”.

10. Check the box next to “Accept” and click “OK”.

11. Enter the password for your Flyme account and click on “OK” again.

13. Now you need to download 3 files from our website and transfer them to Meizu in the root folder:

  • SuperSU APK | Download
  • Terminal Emulator for Android APK | Download
  • Script file "Chid.sh" | Download

14. Open file manager“Documents” and run the installation of SuperSU and Terminal Emulator for Android one by one.

The system will warn you that the ability to install applications from unknown sources is blocked by default. Simply click on “Settings” and you will enable this option.

Then just click on “Install”.

15. So we installed 2 new applications that we will need to run the “Chid.sh” script.

16. We go to SuperSU and see a notification about the need to update the SU binary file. Click “Continue”.

17. On the next tab, select “Normal”.

19. The installation process will begin. Wait a bit, it lasts about a minute.

20. At the end you will receive a message that the process completed successfully. Click OK.

If the message “Installation failed” appears on the screen, then try again.

21. Now open Terminal Emulator and after the dollar sign type:

su

And press "Enter".

22. A Superuser prompt will appear. Grant root access to the application by clicking on "Grant".

23. Remember about the file “Chid.sh”? It should be located in the root folder on your smartphone. If everything is so, then enter in the terminal emulator.

To summarize, we would like to note that installing and flashing other versions on a Meizu smartphone is not particularly difficult, so even a beginner can figure it out.

Video: Meizu M2 Note - making an international version from the Chinese version, changing the ID and firmware

Meizu's smartphones are increasingly gaining popularity in the global market. Their devices are in incredible demand. In Android smartphones, you often have to change the firmware. This is explained by the fact that operating system Android does not prohibit the user from performing various manipulations with shell software, so inexperienced users can harm their device. Therefore, knowledge of how to reflash Meizu smartphones will be useful to many. From the very beginning, I would like to say that the Meizu M2 Note's firmware can be changed very easily compared to other Android smartphones. You will receive instructions on how to do this below.

I would like to say right away that the firmware on the Meiza M2 changes quite quickly. This may be due to the fact that the devices of the Chinese company have the Flyme shell on board.

You can reflash smartphones in a couple of ways: with or without a computer. The steps for these two methods will be very similar, so it will be equally easy both when flashing through the device itself and when using a PC.

Download the firmware from the official website

The most secure system firmware is available on the manufacturer's website. To download the firmware file, simply go to the official Meizu website and find the latest firmware version for your phone model. After downloading the file, you need to upload it to the root folder of your smartphone.

There is no guarantee that you will be able to install everything and that the firmware will work properly. But as practice shows, even those who have never done this can reflash devices from Meizu.

When you find and download official version firmware to your smartphone, a file called “Update.zip” will be downloaded; as the name suggests, the file is in zip format. It cannot be opened, much less modified in any way. You don’t need to do anything with it, it will install the firmware for you, the main thing is not to interfere with it.

We start the smartphone in Recovery mode

The next thing we need to do is launch Recovery Mode on the phone. To launch this mode on Meizu smartphones, you need to turn off the device and press the volume up button and the power button on the smartphone.

To control and navigate through the Recovery Mod menu, use the volume rocker; to select the desired section, press the power button as if it were “ Enter".

"System upgrade", then select “ Clear data".

Note: During flashing, all data from the smartphone’s memory will be deleted, so you should worry about the safety of information important to you in advance. The best way prevent data loss - make a backup copy.

After manipulations in recovery, the smartphone will install the firmware itself and automatically reboot. There are rare cases of failures, but this can happen if the file was downloaded damaged, or you somehow changed it. In this case, you need to download the file again and repeat all the steps.

Using a computer

With installation new version The computer can help you with the firmware. The steps will be similar to the previous instructions. Please note that you will not transfer the file to the root folder of your smartphone, but first to your computer, and then to your phone.

Download firmware

As in the first method, you should download the firmware file from the manufacturer’s official website. For some reason, the vast majority of users take software from pirated sites, and then end up with “bricks”, or at least lost time and nerves.

When choosing software, you should pay attention to the type of firmware, because there are 5 types. There are only three available for Meizu: a Chinese version, one universal version and an international version. You need the international version, since it has Russian and Ukrainian languages immediately available and Google services are immediately available. Do not mix up the files; if you install the Chinese version, it will be extremely difficult to understand it.

Checking the file name and extension

Before you transfer required file to your smartphone, be sure to make sure that the file name is “Update.zip” and that the file is in zip format. If you transfer a file to the device that does not meet these criteria, it may result in an error. The firmware may not be installed correctly or may not be found at all. After which the smartphone may be inoperable forever.

Connecting your phone in Recovery mode

As always, you will need to enable Recovery Mod. Only unlike the first method, after launch engineering menu need to connect mobile device to a computer via a USB cable. The computer will recognize your device and show you the folder " Recovery" in "My Computer", you need to transfer the firmware file into it.

Before you reflash Meiza M2 Note, be sure to do backup copy your files and settings. Often, when flashing, people forget about this, and after it, the lost data cannot be restored.

Firmware

After you have entered recovery, you need to click on “ "System upgrade", then select “ Clear data" and the "OK" button. If you did everything correctly, then your smartphone should receive an updated software version. Reflashing has a positive effect on the operation of the phone, because as you use it, you download many applications to the device that affect the system in one way or another. Some files can have a negative impact on the system, and even after deleting them, the device will slow down a little.

After you flash your Meiza M2 Note, don’t rush to install hundreds of applications on it. If you do this, you will achieve new firmware to the same condition as it was on yours old version. Use your smartphone wisely and don't demand more from it than it can handle.

On this moment There are 4 firmware modifications for Meizu M2 Note:

  • International (I) - version for the international market. It is not installed on Chinese versions of phones, it gives a “corrupt” error.
  • Universal (A)— global version, almost ideal for everyone. There is little Chinese stuff, and what is there can be removed without any problems. Installed on Unicom, China Mobile and International versions.
  • Unicom (U) - version (produced for the island part of China (Hong Kong), updated with firmware in the update.zip format with the letter value "U" and "A".
  • China Mobile (C) - version sold domestically (mainland China), updated with firmware from the operator, or universal firmware.

You can find out the installed firmware version in Settings -> About phone -> Firmware version. Versions “A”, “C” and “U” lack services from Google and contain “Chinese software”. “I” already has Google services pre-installed and does not have “Chinese software”. Google services you can install it yourself. Using the AppCenter application store integrated into the firmware, you need to install Google app Installer.

IN latest updates In software versions of smartphones other than “I”, Meizu has removed support for many languages, including Russian. In this way, the company is trying to combat illegal trafficking of its products. Since on Chinese market the cost of smartphones is much lower, many people prefer to buy there. But there were craftsmen who returned the Russian language to the Chinese versions of the firmware.

If your firmware version is “A”, “C” or “U” and you have updated to Flyme OS 4.5.4A, then the Russian language will not be available on your smartphone. We will try to return it, and also remove unused Chinese software. First, use your smartphone and install the necessary drivers on your PC. PC drivers are stored in the smartphone's memory. In order to download them you need to connect your smartphone in CD-Rom mode. Before installing drivers, disable verification digital signature on Windows.

Download and unzip this archive to the root of the disk. Run start.bat and select the required script. After each reboot we check the result. The archive contains 6 scripts:

1. Installing the SuperSU application (superuser) 2. Checking superuser rights 3. Removing unused Chinese applications 4. Russification of the firmware 5. Backup system partition(system.img) to the phone memory 6. Restoring/recording an image of the system partition (system.img) from the phone memory

For Russification you need to run the first four scripts. Russification is carried out by substitution system files from international version firmware. At the end of the process, the missing languages are restored on the smartphone and the pre-installed Chinese software is removed. I checked this entire procedure on Meizu M2 Note versions M571.

If you have any questions, I will be happy to answer them.
