Windows 10 is paid. Disadvantages of the new operating system from Microsoft

Let's figure out whether Windows 10 can get a paid subscription?

New release operating system(OS) Windows 10 has become both a significant event and something of a caution. On the one hand, a new OS is always a step towards the development of technology, on the other hand, with the release of Windows 10, Microsoft showed itself to be an unprincipled, aggressive corporation with frequent deceptions of its users.

Tell me, yes, this has always been the case, especially with Microsoft. In general, yes, but this time it started to cross too many boundaries. Judge for yourself, based on the results of the launch of “10”, yes, it is already installed on more than 200 million devices, but in what ways? Constant imposition, often without the right to choose, of one’s own new system. It was thanks to such methods and a number of other methods that the “ten” became quite popular and became second, second only to everyone’s favorite Windows 7.

But here's the thing, Microsoft stated that this is the last full-fledged version of the Windows series OS released

That is, the system will further develop only through online updates, which, in general, is only a plus; this should have come with the release of the “seven”, since constant transitions from one version to another occur quite “painfully”. Well, that’s good, but in such a situation, how does Microsoft intend to continue making money on Windows?

It will not be a big secret for anyone that in such situations, monetization of some internal services is introduced or, as is customary, simply the introduction paid subscription for the entire project. This is confirmed by analysts, and Microsoft itself does not hide the fact that some part popular programs for Windows will receive a paid subscription if you have not already received it.

Everything is clear with this, no one hid it, but what about the “10” itself, will it always be free (in terms of, except for a one-time initial purchase), including after the end of the year for a free transition from “7”? and "8s"? The introduction of a paid subscription to the Ten OS in the future does not exclude analyst Ed Bott (a well-known journalist in the field computer technology, author of 17 books on this topic).

He believes that the reorientation of “10” to online development leads precisely to the introduction of a paid subscription. After all, the system will constantly receive a lot of updates on an ongoing basis, for which significant funds will be spent; usually in such situations a paid basis is introduced. By saying this right away, Microsoft risked users refusing to switch to the new OS.

Therefore, perhaps this issue was not immediately announced. It’s better to start talking about it when the system gets the majority of users from the “seven”, and this will undoubtedly happen, since it will still become outdated, moreover, its support will end very soon in 2020.

As soon as the majority of users switch to “10”, then Microsoft can begin to fully monetize the system. On the other hand, the “ten” turned out to be not so innovative as to really attract the attention of users.

All the real innovations of the “ten”, at least for the average user, can be found at:

  • Support for new tools for creating DirectX 12 applications, which was supposed to improve graphics and performance in games, but the release of the new Hitman refuted this, and all because implementing the new 12th DirectX is quite a difficult task, the video card manufacturers AMD and nVidia themselves spoke about this
  • Finally, a successful combination of the tiled interface of mobile devices and the desktop for PCs, which also resulted in the unification of all Windows-based devices

  • Orientation and greater adoption of the Windows Store's own digital store
  • Virtual assistant Cortana
  • A new browser, with supposedly interesting functions, but at the same time, without basic extensions that had just begun to appear, which, together with other shortcomings, led to the low popularity of the successor of the almost completely defunct Internet Explorer

Yes, that’s probably all that could really interest the majority of users. Due to such a small range of innovations, Microsoft has to make enormous efforts on all fronts to transfer users to 10.

Thus, the monetization of Windows 10 is not an issue at all; it is not clear what exactly will be paid and how far Microsoft can go, taking advantage of the enormous popularity of its OS. It’s difficult to answer, we can only guess, we’ll keep an eye on it further development events.

Users of the famous operating system from Microsoft have always been divided into two groups. The first group included those who preferred to use such software and not pay for it. Others seek to take advantage of all the benefits of licensed software. Therefore, even now the question remains relevant: “What should Windows 10 be like?” - paid or free? Everyone must answer it independently. It's all about solving the problems for which this software is used. But in any case, the new OS has already become a favorite among many users. Although it was not without its shortcomings.

Is it possible to use the OS for free?

Yes, if you are upgrading from previous generations. For example, you previously used seven or eight, then as part of the migration until 2016 you could switch to ten free of charge. In 2018, this is also possible, but only through the “Special Version” for disabled people.

There is another option, how not to pay a penny for use - download an activator, for example or. There are a great many of them, so you just need to choose the appropriate solution, then install a clean build, activate it, and as a result you will get full access to the functions without paying a single penny for it. But there are several disadvantages of this solution:
  • It is illegal;
  • You may stop receiving updates;
  • Doesn't always work;
Nevertheless, the solution is in demand and popular, which means it has the right to life.

Disadvantages of the new operating system from Microsoft

Immediately after it came out new Windows 10, many noted some dampness. Regardless of what OS was installed on the user’s computer at that time - paid or free. This fact has always characterized new products from Microsoft. But over time, making some modifications allowed everything to be corrected. And also many complained about the inconvenience associated with the sale of so-called tiles. Their functionality is not customizable. At the same time, the meager app store did not increase the overall number of fans of this OS. But its main drawback is still considered to be the default user tracking. But even this function can be disabled in the right hands.

Advantages of "ten"

Unified Windows 10 is a new concept from the developers. Its paid or free versions can be installed on several devices of one user at once - PC, tablet, laptop, etc. Moreover, up to a certain point, any person had the opportunity to work on an updated operating system and not pay a penny for it.

And today there are some opportunities to install this OS, let’s say, free of charge. Well, for many, a very important point remains the fact that developers are constantly releasing some additions for their product and improving it. This was practically not observed on the same eighth version of the OS. So the “ten” looks more promising in this regard.

If you saw a message that Microsoft is giving away Windows 10 for free, then you probably have a question: is this true, is it true, and if true, where can you get your copy for free? We'll tell you.

Quite some time has passed since Microsoft began developing its own operating systems. And today we see an interesting phenomenon: this organization is giving away Windows 10 for free. What caused this action? After all, usually all products from these developers cost quite a decent amount. And today the latest OS, in the development of which so much money was invested, is distributed free of charge. Let's try to figure it out a little.

Let us warn you right away that the OS was paid and remains so, but that’s all free versions in the past and now - these are certain loopholes. After all, the product is commercial, which means it’s not surprising that developers want to make money on it.

What made Microsoft distribute Windows 10 for free?

Today the company has come to the conclusion that maintaining the traditional sales model is unprofitable. The point is that in Lately Users are not buying software products as willingly as they used to be. Therefore, the company is distributing the OS in the hope of attracting as many people as possible to its side. Let's see how much this or that version of the “ten” costs today:
  • Homemade – 8699 RUR;
  • Pro – RUB 14,199;
  • Pro for workstations – RUR 21,899
Prices are indicated at the time of writing this material and taken from the official resource. These are only three system edition options that are available for individuals. The cost of a license for organizations is always individual. Therefore, we will not consider it. The cost also depends on the region. If you are in Ukraine - the price is in hryvnias, if in Turkey - in lira and so on. And if you convert it to one currency, for example, Russian rubles, then in the end it turns out that all countries have their own value.

An interesting option for obtaining a licensed OS is to purchase any mobile device at certain retail outlets. But in this case, you will only have access to a linked license and only for one language.

The company is developing its own marketing strategy, which is based on the free distribution of its own products. Therefore, Microsoft is giving away Windows 10 for free and thereby attracting more and more users. This is the so-called freemium strategy, which is designed for the fact that some people in the future will want to use other company products on a paid basis. A special ecosystem of products is being created. The famous Apple already has something similar, which uses its own developments in both the software and hardware segments of the market. Therefore, Microsoft has recently given the go-ahead for the free distribution of its office suite, available for other operating systems.

How to get the OS for free

It's official - you must be a person with a disability. In this case, you can get a copy for free. Important - this is relevant only at the time of writing. The rules are constantly changing, and perhaps this opportunity will disappear or expand.

Unofficially - with the help of . This is an illegal method and has nothing to do with Microsoft. You are literally hacking the system and using it illegally.

Which of the two options to choose is up to you. But before that, find out if it's true that Microsoft is giving away Windows licenses 10 free specifically at your time. Perhaps the company organized new promotion or changed the rules of the old one.

Hello, dear reader!

I think you know that you can now switch to Windows 10 for free. Let me clarify: if you have installed licensed Windows 7 and above.

Recently, information appeared on the Microsoft website that this free offer does not have long to live - until July 29.

After this date, you will have to pay $119 for a “ten.” As they say, a little of a good thing. Although, the current “little by little” had a rather long period - a whole year.

Everyone asked this question

Is it worth upgrading to Windows 10? It seems to me that a year ago every owner of a “seven”, “eight” and even XP asked this question.

I have "ten" installed. I regular user who looks and uploads videos on YouTube, makes tables in Excel and prints in Word.

I switched to Windows 10 in August or September 2015. Updated from Windows 8.1, which I migrated to from Windows 8 - a pre-installed system on my Lenovo laptop B5400.

While working on the “ten”, I twice had to roll back to the pre-installed “OS”.

For the first time

The first time this happened was because the administrator account was damaged.

As a result, I could neither update my programs nor install new ones. Each time the system informed me that I did not have the rights to do this.

On blogs, specialized websites, and thematic forums, most advised reinstalling the operating system.

But I didn’t have the tens distribution kit. Moreover, my laptop did not come with an installation disk for V8, the “native” operating system that was available at the time of purchase!

I was simply amazed. I didn’t know what to grab onto. If there are no installation disks, then I won’t see a legal “OS” and won’t be able to update to Windows 10 either.

Then I thought: I now have a licensed “ten”, which means I have the right to technical support. And then I turned to Microsoft.

Technical support, thanks to the product code (it is listed in the “System” section), confirmed my status as a legal user. Moreover, I found out that I was assigned copy of Windows 10. This meant that when the OS was rolled back, I could update to “ten” again. This option was the only one, since several attempts were made online to restore account failed.

However, I didn't have installation disk"native operating system". And then they explained to me: it is “hardwired” on the disk. This is done on new laptops. There is a recovery partition that doesn't disappear anywhere. You can always activate it, and the licensed Windows that was when you purchased it will be restored.

They told me how to properly restore the operating system. Clarified what is needed first important information copy to OneDrive or at external drive. I have a 500 GB external drive. That's where I transferred all the data.

After that, I rolled back to my “native” OS – Windows 8. Then I went to the official Microsoft website and downloaded the update to Windows 10.

As a result, I installed licensed Windows 10. Everything turned out to be very easy and simple.

Second time

The second time I encountered a strange situation: one of the two Start button menus disappeared. In my opinion, the one that displays “Explorer”, “Options”, etc.

All my attempts to revive the original functionality were in vain, and I again rolled back to the “native” OS, and then upgraded to Windows 10. Everything worked out without problems.

Thus, I now have the third installation of “ten”. It's been six months since the last reinstallation.

Installed and working

During this time I have no complaints about my work. All the programs that I wanted to see on my laptop are installed and working. There are even several toys: GTA IV, Singularity.

Works with "ten" Kaspersky Internet Security. I have updates enabled, and the system itself downloads and installs them when I turn off the laptop.

Often multiple browsers are open. Chrome, for example, can display 20-30 tabs. At one time, Chrome was terribly stupid: when opening it, it wrote that the previous session was completed incorrectly, although this was not true. I reinstalled it several times. There are no problems now.

The operating system itself works without freezes. Even when “heavy” programs are open: Photoshop, Camtasia Studio.

They shouldn't exist

By the way, I don’t have a single “cleaner” or a single optimizer program installed on the “ten”. I once specifically contacted Microsoft technical support about this, and they told me that the best option is the complete absence of such programs.

Why shouldn't these programs exist? There is no guarantee that they will not clean something important and necessary. Moreover, it may take quite a long time, even six months, before the negative effect of such cleanings manifests itself in the form of freezing and loading problems.

By the way, in the first two attempts to work on the “ten” I had “cleaners” and optimizers installed. Now, as I said, not one. I periodically clean and defragment the disks with built-in Windows tools 10 and I don’t play with the paging file settings.

Overall, I honestly like Windows 10.

What operating system do you have installed? Do you have experience working on Windows 10? How do you like this system?
