But, the other day I decided to open another section - “This is interesting and useful.” In which there will be articles of utilitarian content, i.e. something like lessons, descriptions, etc.This article, from this section, addresses one of the problems that many of us periodically face on the Internet.

Does it happen to you - you open, for example, a social network page, and see images and text in a small size? Sometimes it is so small that the text looks completely unreadable. You understand that this is a standard requirement for running blogs or websites. But I want to somehow change the situation.

After thinking about it, I found three lungs and quick ways , How to solve this problem.

I tried to show how I do it. I accompanied the description with screenshots to make it clearer to those who want to use these methods.

Three easy and fast ways to resize the PC/laptop screen in Yandex and Google Chrome

  • Method one . Very fast, literally with one click (click) - using the so-called "hot keys".
On the keyboard I press two keys at the same time: 1) Ctrl (in the picture under the number 1) and a key with a minus sign (-) or a plus sign (+). They are listed under number 2.

That is, when I want to achieve an increase, I press “plus”. Accordingly, to reduce, I click the same way - on the Ctrl and minus keys. And that's it, the sizes instantly changed!

  • Method two. A little longer (well, half a minute) - in the settings of Yandex or Google Chrome.
Let's look at two examples in turn.
  1. So, on the right top corner Yandex I find the “puck” (number 1), click on it. And in the window that opens (see picture), I move the mouse cursor over the word “Scale”. The size in parentheses reflects the size I use on this moment.

For example, the scale was set to 125%. When you hover your mouse next to it, a new window immediately opens, with various options to choose from. The one that I currently have is already marked with a dot.

All I have to do is select another value and click on it. And immediately the computer screen will change its size! Everything happens quickly, much faster than described.

2. Now in Google Chrome. The algorithm of actions is the same. Only, fortunately, even shorter.

When you click on the “puck”, still in the same upper corner, a window will open.
And in it you just need to click on the plus or minus sign - depending on the need to enlarge or reduce the screen. If you try it right now, you will see for yourself that it is very easy and simple!

Now when I open various pages sites, they are revealed at the specified scale. That is, the result is saved, and when moving to other blogs, etc., I don’t need to re-install everything on the desired scale.
  • Third way Available in Google Chrome. And it allows you to set not only the screen size, but also fix the desired font sizes for web documents.
It is also done quite simply and quickly. Again, I open the Chrome menu in the browser toolbar, i.e. I click on the “puck”. Only now I select the “Settings” item.

I switch to a new tab. At the very end of the page you need to click on the line “Show additional settings”.

Here, scrolling down the page with the mouse, I stop at the “Web Content” item. Right there, without going anywhere, I click on the black triangle in the “Page Scale” line and easily change it.

And since I ended up on this page, I decided to use the font settings. Fortunately, this is very easy to do.
By clicking on the line “Customize fonts”, I go to a new tab.Here I note two parameters - I set the Standard and Minimum font sizes.
the second way;

And it always remains “at hand” method No. 1. If suddenly the font on the site is initially quite large, I reduce it using “hot keys”. Or, conversely, when you need to quickly zoom in on a paragraph, I use quick zoom.

Agree, these are, indeed, three quick and easy ways to increase the screen size on a computer or laptop when working on the Internet. I think if you didn't know about them, you'll definitely like them.

Instructions

The image may appear stretched for two reasons: firstly, due to incorrect setting screen parameters; secondly, in the absence of the necessary driver for the video card installed in the system.

Correcting image stretching in the first case is very simple. For operating room Windows systems XP open “Start” - “Control Panel” - “Display” - “Display Settings” and set the required resolution. For a regular monitor, the normal screen resolution is 1024x768 pixels. For a monitor with an aspect ratio of 16:9, typical for laptops, 1366x768 pixels. Click "OK" - the screen resolution will be changed. Evaluate it - if it becomes normal, confirm the changes. If not, try different screen options.

In the Windows 7 operating system, to change the screen resolution, click on a free area of the desktop with the right mouse button. In the opened context menu select "Screen Resolution". Further settings are no different from those for Windows XP.

If there is no video card driver, the situation is somewhat more complicated. Determining whether the driver is installed is very simple - open any window and try dragging it with the mouse. If there is no driver, the window will move slowly, with noticeable distortion.

To install the driver, open “Start” – “Control Panel” – “System” – “Hardware” – “Device Manager” – “Video adapters”. If the driver is not installed, your video card will be marked with a yellow question mark in the list. Double-click the line with the question mark with the mouse, and in the window that appears, click the “Reinstall” button. If you have a driver disc, insert it into your drive and click Next. The installer will automatically find and install necessary files. If the driver is located on the computer's hard drive, specify the path to it.

The main difficulties arise when installing video card drivers on laptops. To find out which driver you need, use the Aida64 (Everest) program. Run it and see the exact data of the video card. Using this data, go to your manufacturer’s website and find required driver.

In some cases, an installation disk with an assembly of Windows XP Zver can help solve problems with installing drivers with Windows XP. This assembly contains a large number of drivers, but you won’t be able to install them directly, since they are packaged. Copy the archive you need from the OEMDRV folder - for example, DP_Video_ATI_Nvidia_911rc9.7z for ATI and Nvidia video cards, unpack it. Then run the driver installation procedure again and specify the path to the folder with the unpacked drivers.

The main parameter of a computer screen is its resolution - the number of dots per unit area. The greater their number, the clearer the image. Formally, it is simply impossible to expand the screen, because the number of pixels per inch is set by the manufacturer and is a constant number. But you can make the image clearer and larger than it currently is.

Highest resolution

You can find out the maximum resolution available on your computer as follows:

In the window that opens, the values will be specified opposite the parameter; when you open the list, you will see the maximum available value. Here, by moving the slider to the appropriate level, you can expand the screen if it was previously smaller.

Solutions to the problem

Most often, users encounter a problem when the page size in the browser is very small. There are three main ways to solve this problem, which do not differ in complexity. The first method to expand the screen is to press the "Ctrl" and "+" keys at the same time. This combination will change the screen scale to a higher one. By clicking “–” instead of “plus”, you will change the size in the opposite direction.

To use the following method of expanding the screen, you need to look at the settings menu of your Internet browser. We will explain all the actions using Google Chrome as an example, but the algorithm of actions will be the same everywhere:

You can also increase the size of letters in the font settings menu without affecting the resolution of images on the Internet. Very useful for people with visual impairments, because by increasing the page zoom, you will make surfing sites quite inconvenient.

Desktop extensions

Talk about expanding the worker windows table not quite right. You can increase the size of icons, links, files and folders, but do not affect the screen resolution settings. There are two ways to accomplish this task.

Quite often, users of the Windows operating system encounter a problem when the image on the monitor is narrowed or is not displayed on the entire screen. All this can also be accompanied by enlarged icons on the desktop and general blurriness of the image.

In this article we will tell you why such a situation can happen and how to restore and expand the monitor screen if it has narrowed.

Reasons for the problem

The most likely and most common reasons for the narrowing of the image on the monitor are:

  • Incorrect screen resolution;
  • Absence ;
  • Connecting an additional monitor or TV;
  • Incorrect monitor settings.

Now let's look at each of the reasons in more detail. Let's start with the simplest and most obvious one.

Incorrect resolution in graphics settings

A similar situation may arise immediately after installation or Windows reinstallation. Less commonly, the cause of an incorrectly set resolution is a game or other application in which you can change the screen resolution.

It's very easy to check and fix. You need to click on an empty space on the desktop and select “Screen settings” or “Screen resolution” or “Personalization” in the menu that opens.

Entering screen resolution settings in Windows 7

Entering screen resolution settings in Windows 10

If you select the first two items, you will immediately be taken to the desired window for changing the screen resolution. If you selected “Personalization”, then in the window that opens, select “Screen” at the bottom left and then “Setting screen resolution” at the top left.

Here, in the “Resolution” item, you need to sort through the values until the image on the screen expands to the desired size. Most often, “(Recommended)” will be written next to the desired value.

No video card driver

The reason is also quite common. More often it occurs after installing/reinstalling the operating system, or after trying to update the video card drivers.

Connecting an additional monitor or TV to a computer/laptop

This situation is less common than the previous two, but it also occurs. If you connected any additional image output devices to the video card of your computer or laptop, such as an additional monitor or TV, then try turning them off.

If the image has been corrected and the monitor has expanded to normal values, then the reason is in the connected device and when connecting it to the computer, the resolution adjustment, which is described above, is required. The only difference is that before changing the value in the “Resolution” line. need to choose required monitor in the “Screen” line.

Selecting a monitor in screen resolution settings

Monitor settings

If all of the above does not suit you or does not apply to a specific situation, then try running the auto monitor settings. This is done by pressing one button on the monitor, which is usually labeled “Auto” and is located near the monitor’s power button on its front or side panel.

Auto monitor adjustment button

For users personal computers often

  • in the window that opens, select the optimal resolution for your monitor;
  • apply the new settings.

In the list of equipment that opens, find the video card and check if it is near it (this means that there are problems with the driver, which is either not installed at all or is damaged). Select the device name in the list, use the right mouse button to call up and click on the “Update drivers” item. You can install the software manually:

  • download from the official website of the manufacturer;
  • take advantage installation disk, if it was included.

Please note that in operating systems new generation drivers are installed in automatic mode, and there is no question of how to expand the screen on the monitor, since its adjustment also occurs automatically. Resolution settings may change when running programs. For example, if you open a game, system characteristics which is not allowed to be used on this computer. How to change the screen extension in this case? If, after exiting the application, the previous settings were not restored, then use the very first method described in this article.
