The agony of choice.
I’m not too interested in iPhones (mainly because of the price); I assumed the “ceiling” price was 12-13 thousand rubles. For me, buying any equipment is an extremely important and serious matter. Therefore, I began to study the smartphone market in detail, took notes, read reviews, watched reviews, and compared.

Everything turned out to be very complicated (of course, with such and such requests!). All the models I reviewed had flaws or did not meet one of my basic requirements. And once you get involved in negative reviews, the desire to buy disappears altogether.
By some miracle I noticed the Acer Liquid Z530. Despite more low price than its competitors, it has become my favorite! After thinking for a week, I finally decided - TAKE IT!
Purchase.
The release date of the smartphone is October 2015, and it appeared on the Russian market in November.
Until now, it can only be purchased on the DNC network. I purchased Technopoint at DNC for 8990 rubles, which is 1000 less than at DNC.
The smartphone and accessories are in such a not very attractive, IMHO, box.
Let's open it. Inside is the phone itself, branded headphones, a USB cable and an adapter for charging from an outlet. There is also a warranty booklet and a quick guide (super short!).

Dimensions. After the last phone, the new one seemed simply gigantic! And now that I’m used to it, I can say that the size is very comfortable. The smartphone fits comfortably in my hand, and I can almost operate it with one hand (with my short fingers, ahah). Lightweight, your hand doesn’t get tired at all when talking.
Design. In my opinion, the designers did their best - it’s nice to look at the smartphone. It is elegant, round, the inscriptions are in place, unusual speakers, buttons and connectors are conveniently located (I got used to it quickly), the back cover is made to look like metal. Good in both colors presented.
Screen. 5 inches. Big, bright! The touchscreen is responsive and thinks quickly. There are no complaints here at all. Everything is great!
An important feature is that the buttons are located on the display itself, and not under it. But it turned out to be convenient, I got used to it quickly.
It’s comfortable to watch movies on this screen - the smartphone has really helped relieve boredom on the road.
CPU. 4 cores at 1.3 GHz - excellent for this price category. I don’t play “heavy” games, but all my simple applications just fly, the phone doesn’t slow down! But I read that the phone will not disappoint players either - graphics, etc. on high. 5+!
Operating system. Android. I've been using this OS before, so there are no difficulties - everything is intuitive. A little annoying moooore unnecessary pre-installed applications, and in order to clean everything and make it your own, you need to root the phone (I’m afraid to do this myself, and I don’t want to void the warranty).
Memory. Excellent, great - both the RAM and the built-in one. Of the 16 GB, about 10 GB are free. I inserted a 16 GB memory card - and I’m happy.
Communication, Internet, navigation. Doesn't let you down! I call without any problem. Receives 3G wonderfully and quickly connects to Wi-Fi. Everything is OK with GPS too. Amazing overall.
Camera. The most interesting thing: Both are 8 MP, but the rear has autofocus, but the front does not. Both have several modes.
Selfie camera I really like it, 98% of the photos turn out well, even in poor lighting. There is no flash, but there is a mode " Volumetric lighting", where the camera display shrinks and a white frame appears around it, which illuminates the face.
My favorite mode" Bright magic" - the photos turn out to be contrasty and bright, although imperfections, for example, skin, become more obvious. A " Embellishment“It smoothes out my face very unnaturally, so I don’t use it much.
Main camera It looks good, but there will be a lot of bad photos. You need to adapt to it, learn to “catch the focus” - and then you can be amazed at the resulting photographs. It takes pictures very well only in decent lighting and without movement.

Flaws.
- The included headphones are terrible. They are very uncomfortable and after a couple of minutes of use your ears start to hurt. But they have a very good flexible cable, a microphone and a button, but what’s the point? It is impossible to use them.
- The USB cable is short and inflexible and cannot be straightened out. When charging, you literally sit near the outlet. I tried to charge it with a charger from an old phone - the charge stays where it is because... Insufficient current.
- On the 4th day after purchase, I noticed that the plug into the micro-USB connector was not inserted completely all the way, and was also moving back and forth. It seems that this was not the case initially, and I have no idea where it came from, because I used it carefully. One of the most annoying moments!
- Thin back cover. Until I got used to opening it, I thought I would definitely break it. In the photo I show how it bends. In some places, creaks can be traced, although weak.
- Even when surfing the Internet, it can get slightly warm.
- Afraid of the cold! In cold weather it discharges quickly, signaling that the battery is very cold. In especially severe cases - up to 0 and, accordingly, switching off (I had this happen when it was lying in a bag in the snow while I was at the skating rink - I was afraid of breaking it). When warmed up or connected to charging, the charge returns.
- I would like a larger battery. I charge once a day with intermittent use of 3G and Wi-Fi.
- Sometimes the camera does not turn on - it gives an error. Rebooting helps. I think something is “losing” there.
I'm very glad I chose this phone. I've been using it for a month. And in this short period of time I managed to get used to it, fall in love with my handsome boy, and get used to his shortcomings. It is always there, always helps out, and also fully corresponds to its price, and even surpasses many more expensive models.

The MT6735 processor is a new development from Mediatek. Accordingly, this chip is superior in performance to similar old ones. Appearance
The design of the Z530 is strict and simple, without any “glitter”, like any other Acer devices.
The front and side edges are deep black, the back cover is slightly lighter, with an almost imperceptible texture.
The front side of the smartphone is completely covered with glass. The back surface is pleasantly rough, and this provides a secure grip. The quality of materials and assembly is at a high level.
In terms of convenience, there is one drawback - those with small hands will find it difficult to reach the power button without the help of a second hand.
Screen
The Z530 has a 5-inch screen with HD resolution. Very high quality used here IPS matrix with a high brightness reserve and wide viewing angles. Touchpad understands up to 5 simultaneous touches. The screen also has one significant drawback - the lack of an anti-reflective coating; fingerprints remain on the display.
Automatic brightness adjustment works correctly, but for unknown reasons it never uses the extreme values of the range; the minimum and maximum can only be set in manual mode.
Acer's own developments are also used in the screen. LumiFlex changes the brightness and contrast of the picture depending on the ambient light. And the Bluelight Shield option filters blue shades of the spectrum, which reduces eye strain.
Camera
Both the main and front cameras received an 8-megapixel matrix. Available for both cameras voice control- the list of commands is huge.
The main feature of the Z530 is the selfie camera, which is no worse than the main one, only the flash is missing. Both cameras take very good quality pictures.

The new device really turned out to be balanced. released a model that has no outstanding advantages and no critical shortcomings. No technical support. Android 2.1 was promised back in May, there is still silence. And, finally, zero liquidity: I sold through the forum for two weeks, with practically no clear offer. As a result, I sold it for 10 rubles, having lost 6900 rubles in a month. This is despite the fact that the previous device, an iPhone 3G a year and a half old, was foolishly sold in one day for 15.
Advantages: At first glance - a lot. Especially the price with such a set of performance characteristics. Rave reviews. But with real operating experience, everything is not so beautiful.

I believed him so much that I carelessly began to delete everything unnecessary applications and the smartphone didn’t like it, but after rebooting, everything fell into place. Pleasant and friendly. For this price I had Ark, Digma, Fly, Dexp at 5" - you can’t put them next to each other, but Azuz and Acer can. The screen is without traces. I'm not interested in cameras - I shoot with professional equipment. The sound is without distortion, but the volume is at 4, in headphones 5+. All sensors are without glitches. Gps/3G\4G - everything works quickly.

Since the previous Acer Z160 suited almost everyone, but over time the built-in 4GB memory became insufficient, especially the smartphone was terribly stupid, opening the camera, calling or texting for 20 seconds, it was decided to upgrade to something more capacious, faster and modern.
Naturally not the size of a shovel. However, a market review showed that on a budget with decent characteristics, a screen smaller than 5" cannot now be purchased.
Skipping past the inconspicuous remnants of other models and manufacturers, my eye at different times fell on such things as Asus Zenfone 2, Doogee T3 or Yotaphone 2.
As a result, I purchased an Acer Z530.
Due to the nature of my work I used it quite a lot different smartphones, including all sorts of iPhone 6/7, so the choice was far from being a big deal.
Another alternative from the Acer line was considered, with almost identical Acer specifications Z528 (Zest 4G). An advantage of it was Android 6.0, which saves battery in standby mode. The downside is the battery is 2000 mAh instead of 2400 in the Z530. In the end, I decided that a hardware solution for autonomy is preferable to a software one, due to its lesser dependence on the frequency of use and screen burning. And I reduced power consumption by manually turning off unnecessary notifications in application settings and unnecessary radio frequencies in the engineering menu.
I immediately took a leather book case, and the phone went from being delicately compact (relative to its 5-inch size) to becoming a concrete brick.
A week later, the book case was replaced with an original flip panel with a lid (like the Z130 model). This is where everything became as it should with compactness and screen protection. I don't like protective films, yes. When making calls, the same flip can be closed (there is a hole for the speaker). Plus a magnetic sensor, I’m already used to the fact that when you open the flip, the phone turns on itself.
Flaws: The model is 2015, so of. There will be no update to Android 6.0. After all the updates to firmware 34, the OS properties will show Android 5.1 again.

In general, it’s surprising why many comments (with a clever verdict that Acer continues to make mediocre smartphones) look only at the characteristics, forgetting that in the budget segment they (the characteristics) are the same, because no one will develop a separate chip with a specialist. And the difference between smartphones lies not in sofa analytics, cores, megahertz, tests and pictures on the Internet, but in practical convenience, tactile sensations, materials and design software interface. Where, in order to say something unambiguously, you need to hold the phone in your hand, or better yet, use it for a couple of days.
And in this respect, Acer is definitely better than Huawei with Texets. And Asus and Samsung are the same, only more expensive.

The lack of hardware buttons for conversations when I switched to 2.1 quickly got used to it.
With the native firmware 1.6 it is impossible to use it as a phone: you press end call with your cheek during a conversation, the ear sensor often did not work, which is why it is a pain to press end call after a conversation, and in general the telephone part was terribly buggy, the Blutooth was cut off.
Uncontrolled trips to the Internet eat up money, you always have to turn off access, fortunately it’s not difficult.
