Hi all!

I was stuck with my previous phone for 3.5 years. It became quite worn out, began to glitch, slow down, and the last straw was the lack of power and memory space to install the desired applications. In general, the old man is really behind the times. The question arose about purchasing a new phone.

The agony of choice.

I’m not too interested in iPhones (mainly because of the price); I assumed the “ceiling” price was 12-13 thousand rubles. For me, buying any equipment is an extremely important and serious matter. Therefore, I began to study the smartphone market in detail, took notes, read reviews, watched reviews, and compared.

Here's what I mainly wanted to see in my new smartphone:

  • Screen diagonal 4.5-5""
  • Android OS
  • Two cameras, both good (here the standard for me is the iPhone camera - not super quality, but the photos are very nice)
  • 2 GB random access memory
  • 4G support
  • Battery capacity is about 2500 mAh at least
  • Well, so that it is powerful enough (there are all sorts of processors, cores)
  • I would like the case to be white

Everything turned out to be very complicated (of course, with such and such requests!). All the models I reviewed had flaws or did not meet one of my basic requirements. And once you get involved in negative reviews, the desire to buy disappears altogether.

By some miracle I noticed the Acer Liquid Z530. Despite more low price than its competitors, it has become my favorite! After thinking for a week, I finally decided - TAKE IT!

Purchase.

The release date of the smartphone is October 2015, and it appeared on the Russian market in November.

Until now, it can only be purchased on the DNC network. I purchased Technopoint at DNC for 8990 rubles, which is 1000 less than at DNC.

The smartphone and accessories are in such a not very attractive, IMHO, box.

Let's open it. Inside is the phone itself, branded headphones, a USB cable and an adapter for charging from an outlet. There is also a warranty booklet and a quick guide (super short!).

About the good.

Dimensions. After the last phone, the new one seemed simply gigantic! And now that I’m used to it, I can say that the size is very comfortable. The smartphone fits comfortably in my hand, and I can almost operate it with one hand (with my short fingers, ahah). Lightweight, your hand doesn’t get tired at all when talking.

Design. In my opinion, the designers did their best - it’s nice to look at the smartphone. It is elegant, round, the inscriptions are in place, unusual speakers, buttons and connectors are conveniently located (I got used to it quickly), the back cover is made to look like metal. Good in both colors presented.

Screen. 5 inches. Big, bright! The touchscreen is responsive and thinks quickly. There are no complaints here at all. Everything is great!

An important feature is that the buttons are located on the display itself, and not under it. But it turned out to be convenient, I got used to it quickly.

It’s comfortable to watch movies on this screen - the smartphone has really helped relieve boredom on the road.

CPU. 4 cores at 1.3 GHz - excellent for this price category. I don’t play “heavy” games, but all my simple applications just fly, the phone doesn’t slow down! But I read that the phone will not disappoint players either - graphics, etc. on high. 5+!

Operating system. Android. I've been using this OS before, so there are no difficulties - everything is intuitive. A little annoying moooore unnecessary pre-installed applications, and in order to clean everything and make it your own, you need to root the phone (I’m afraid to do this myself, and I don’t want to void the warranty).

Memory. Excellent, great - both the RAM and the built-in one. Of the 16 GB, about 10 GB are free. I inserted a 16 GB memory card - and I’m happy.

Communication, Internet, navigation. Doesn't let you down! I call without any problem. Receives 3G wonderfully and quickly connects to Wi-Fi. Everything is OK with GPS too. Amazing overall.

Camera. The most interesting thing: Both are 8 MP, but the rear has autofocus, but the front does not. Both have several modes.

Selfie camera I really like it, 98% of the photos turn out well, even in poor lighting. There is no flash, but there is a mode " Volumetric lighting", where the camera display shrinks and a white frame appears around it, which illuminates the face.

My favorite mode" Bright magic" - the photos turn out to be contrasty and bright, although imperfections, for example, skin, become more obvious. A " Embellishment“It smoothes out my face very unnaturally, so I don’t use it much.

Main camera It looks good, but there will be a lot of bad photos. You need to adapt to it, learn to “catch the focus” - and then you can be amazed at the resulting photographs. It takes pictures very well only in decent lighting and without movement.

Zooming in greatly degrades the quality of the photo.

Photo in the dark, “normal” mode.

In short, the camera is not suitable for high-quality photographs, but to capture some moments and share photos on social media. networks - please.

Flaws.

  • The included headphones are terrible. They are very uncomfortable and after a couple of minutes of use your ears start to hurt. But they have a very good flexible cable, a microphone and a button, but what’s the point? It is impossible to use them.

  • The USB cable is short and inflexible and cannot be straightened out. When charging, you literally sit near the outlet. I tried to charge it with a charger from an old phone - the charge stays where it is because... Insufficient current.
  • On the 4th day after purchase, I noticed that the plug into the micro-USB connector was not inserted completely all the way, and was also moving back and forth. It seems that this was not the case initially, and I have no idea where it came from, because I used it carefully. One of the most annoying moments!
  • Thin back cover. Until I got used to opening it, I thought I would definitely break it. In the photo I show how it bends. In some places, creaks can be traced, although weak.

  • Even when surfing the Internet, it can get slightly warm.
  • Afraid of the cold! In cold weather it discharges quickly, signaling that the battery is very cold. In especially severe cases - up to 0 and, accordingly, switching off (I had this happen when it was lying in a bag in the snow while I was at the skating rink - I was afraid of breaking it). When warmed up or connected to charging, the charge returns.
  • I would like a larger battery. I charge once a day with intermittent use of 3G and Wi-Fi.

  • Sometimes the camera does not turn on - it gives an error. Rebooting helps. I think something is “losing” there.

I'm very glad I chose this phone. I've been using it for a month. And in this short period of time I managed to get used to it, fall in love with my handsome boy, and get used to his shortcomings. It is always there, always helps out, and also fully corresponds to its price, and even surpasses many more expensive models.

P.S. If you have questions, ask - don't hesitate. I will help as much as I can.

Thank you for your attention.

Cheap devices with limited functionality and flagships, sometimes frankly redundant in an effort to overtake competitors... And the middle? Acer offers its own version in the new Liquid, and the Z530 model is another attempt to find a balance in the eternal confrontation between price and quality. Specifications and performance

  • Quad-core processor MT6735 with a clock frequency of 1.3 GHz;
  • Mali-T720 MP2 graphics accelerator;
  • installed operating room Android system 5.1;
  • 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal memory;
  • support for microSDHC memory cards up to 32 GB;
  • Dual SIM support;
  • GPS navigation;
  • capacity battery 2400 mAh.

The MT6735 processor is a new development from Mediatek. Accordingly, this chip is superior in performance to similar old ones. Therefore, you should not think that 4 cores and 1.3 GHz are not enough. The smartphone copes well with most applications. Demanding games like Walking Dead and Dead Trigger 2 run great at medium settings.

Appearance

The design of the Z530 is strict and simple, without any “glitter”, like any other Acer devices.

The front and side edges are deep black, the back cover is slightly lighter, with an almost imperceptible texture.

The front side of the smartphone is completely covered with glass. The back surface is pleasantly rough, and this provides a secure grip. The quality of materials and assembly is at a high level.

In terms of convenience, there is one drawback - those with small hands will find it difficult to reach the power button without the help of a second hand.

Screen

The Z530 has a 5-inch screen with HD resolution. Very high quality used here IPS matrix with a high brightness reserve and wide viewing angles. Touchpad understands up to 5 simultaneous touches. The screen also has one significant drawback - the lack of an anti-reflective coating; fingerprints remain on the display.

Automatic brightness adjustment works correctly, but for unknown reasons it never uses the extreme values of the range; the minimum and maximum can only be set in manual mode.

Acer's own developments are also used in the screen. LumiFlex changes the brightness and contrast of the picture depending on the ambient light. And the Bluelight Shield option filters blue shades of the spectrum, which reduces eye strain.

Camera

Both the main and front cameras received an 8-megapixel matrix. Available for both cameras voice control- the list of commands is huge.

The main feature of the Z530 is the selfie camera, which is no worse than the main one, only the flash is missing. Both cameras take very good quality pictures.

Results

The new device really turned out to be balanced. released a model that has no outstanding advantages and no critical shortcomings. The lack of anti-glare coating and an average battery are all the complaints. And the price is pleasing, it is even below average; you can buy a new Acer Liquid Z530 from 10 thousand rubles.

When I bought it, I kept expecting a catch, that it wouldn’t work where. Maybe the screen will wobble and recede? No, everything is okay. Maybe the speaker will sound like a bucket? Yes, it seems no, of course not HiFi, but no worse than my old i710. Maybe the speaker will be weak or the microphone will act up? No, I can hear everyone and everyone tells me that they can hear me better. Well then you must constantly lose the network! and here’s the bummer - the network holds normally, even in the elevator, where the old i710 completely lost it. Well, I think we need to prepare for the worst, he will play simply disgusting music! Strangely, although the sound is not gushing, you can listen to it on the road! Yes, its sound is clearly not audiophile-quality, but it’s also not the worst sound a mobile device can have. But I think the navigation will definitely act up. But no, it picks up satellites quickly and finds the coordinates accurately. But something must be working wrong! Found! The body will hold together. If you pull and knead it in your hands, like you knead a piece of clay for handicrafts, then it emits plaintive squeaks and squeaks. Now I’m like everyone else. And then I thought that I was unlucky and got a surprisingly bug-free device. P.S. There was still hope that WiFi would not pick up, and then the hopes were not justified, both at home and at work I connected to the network without problems. But testing is not finished yet, maybe we will be able to dig up something else!

Acer entered the communicator market without learning how to do anything decent.

Flaws: Their name is Legion. Idiot design. To press the power button, you have to twist your hand. The camera button is stiff - the movement is generally indistinct, you can’t understand when you pressed it and when you didn’t. Touch buttons under the screen - pressed at the most inopportune time. But all this is trifle compared to the wild instability of the device - constant shutdowns, during calls, a coma a couple of times a week, which can only be treated by removing the battery. Spontaneous volume reset during a call. No opening hours. Dead charger included, up to 5 hours on charge. I never had a car chargers, since the days of Siemens SX1, but here I had to get one. No technical support. Android 2.1 was promised back in May, there is still silence. And, finally, zero liquidity: I sold through the forum for two weeks, with practically no clear offer. As a result, I sold it for 10 rubles, having lost 6900 rubles in a month. This is despite the fact that the previous device, an iPhone 3G a year and a half old, was foolishly sold in one day for 15.

Advantages: At first glance - a lot. Especially the price with such a set of performance characteristics. Rave reviews. But with real operating experience, everything is not so beautiful.

5" of this smartphone at the price of 4" of Samsung gives Acer a head start in work, and in terms of quality it is on the same shelf. I believed him so much that I carelessly began to delete everything unnecessary applications and the smartphone didn’t like it, but after rebooting, everything fell into place. Pleasant and friendly. For this price I had Ark, Digma, Fly, Dexp at 5" - you can’t put them next to each other, but Azuz and Acer can. The screen is without traces. I'm not interested in cameras - I shoot with professional equipment. The sound is without distortion, but the volume is at 4, in headphones 5+. All sensors are without glitches. Gps/3G\4G - everything works quickly.
If I break it, I'll post it. ...and take an interest in Acer.\At work, the Acer laptop is 7 years old and doesn’t break...\

Flaws: the screen cover is a continuation of the back cover - not for everyone
Charge for 2 days, without work - 2 weeks and I don’t know: minus or plus?
The screen is not AMOLED; it cannot stand up to bright sunshine.

Advantages: quality, screen, convenient

Since the previous Acer Z160 suited almost everyone, but over time the built-in 4GB memory became insufficient, especially the smartphone was terribly stupid, opening the camera, calling or texting for 20 seconds, it was decided to upgrade to something more capacious, faster and modern.
Naturally not the size of a shovel. However, a market review showed that on a budget with decent characteristics, a screen smaller than 5" cannot now be purchased.
Skipping past the inconspicuous remnants of other models and manufacturers, my eye at different times fell on such things as Asus Zenfone 2, Doogee T3 or Yotaphone 2.
As a result, I purchased an Acer Z530.
Due to the nature of my work I used it quite a lot different smartphones, including all sorts of iPhone 6/7, so the choice was far from being a big deal.
Another alternative from the Acer line was considered, with almost identical Acer specifications Z528 (Zest 4G). An advantage of it was Android 6.0, which saves battery in standby mode. The downside is the battery is 2000 mAh instead of 2400 in the Z530. In the end, I decided that a hardware solution for autonomy is preferable to a software one, due to its lesser dependence on the frequency of use and screen burning. And I reduced power consumption by manually turning off unnecessary notifications in application settings and unnecessary radio frequencies in the engineering menu.
I immediately took a leather book case, and the phone went from being delicately compact (relative to its 5-inch size) to becoming a concrete brick.
A week later, the book case was replaced with an original flip panel with a lid (like the Z130 model). This is where everything became as it should with compactness and screen protection. I don't like protective films, yes. When making calls, the same flip can be closed (there is a hole for the speaker). Plus a magnetic sensor, I’m already used to the fact that when you open the flip, the phone turns on itself.

Flaws: The model is 2015, so of. There will be no update to Android 6.0. After all the updates to firmware 34, the OS properties will show Android 5.1 again.
The camera is traditionally weaker than Samsung's (however, Samsung is just as traditionally slightly worse than the others).
Weak wifi signal through several walls. Where most devices show 2-3 reliable sticks, this one has 0-1-2, and the connection periodically breaks down.
I changed the router to a more powerful one, with 5 dB antennas (however, I had been planning to do this for a long time), the situation did not improve significantly.
Here you either need to place the router in the same room or corridor, maximum 1-2 walls. Or switch from 802.11n mode to b or g mode, then it again catches throughout the apartment, and the speed does not suffer (I have a home Internet of 50 Mbit/s, with a distribution of 15-20 Mbit/s per device).

Advantages: In general, the smartphone can be described as bright, stylish and convenient.
Built-in 16 GB (of which about 10 are available) + 2 GB RAM, today in 2016-2017. the user of “just a smartphone” should be behind the scenes. Therefore, with Android 5.1, it is both fast and very inexpensive.
Confident cold start with fast search for GPS satellites.
In general, it’s surprising why many comments (with a clever verdict that Acer continues to make mediocre smartphones) look only at the characteristics, forgetting that in the budget segment they (the characteristics) are the same, because no one will develop a separate chip with a specialist. And the difference between smartphones lies not in sofa analytics, cores, megahertz, tests and pictures on the Internet, but in practical convenience, tactile sensations, materials and design software interface. Where, in order to say something unambiguously, you need to hold the phone in your hand, or better yet, use it for a couple of days.
And in this respect, Acer is definitely better than Huawei with Texets. And Asus and Samsung are the same, only more expensive.
Here are the advantages of Acer:
- bright and clear screen, based on airless technology;
- oleophobic coating, and in terms of “slipperiness” it is even better than in the iPhone 6;
- atomic design: roundness (like Yotaphone 2), round holes, thin steel (not plastic) strip on the side, corrugation on the back cover, a solid combination of black and gray;
- LED event indicator;
- icon quick cleaning in the active applications menu.
In Android competitors, such little things are often missing, where you hold a smartphone in your hand with more “cool” characteristics, but in appearance and interface it is very dull, and it’s not fun to use. It’s no wonder when they appearance Nowadays, people rarely move away from the “flat rectangle” style. rounded corners and three buttons."
They also write that it breaks, etc. things. I took it not so long ago, six months, so far the flight is normal. And for those who don’t have enough, the previous Acer Z160, purchased back in 2014, was handed over to the baht for use in good condition.

A week later the microphone broke, it took about a month to fix it - they replaced the entire board.

Flaws: Many people complain about the microphone breaking for this model. When there is an active network load (for example, a torrent), it gets very hot. Very bad sound from the speakers - it is impossible to listen to music without headphones.

Advantages: The screen - the color rendition is simply unreal, I really liked it. Great sound in headphones. Good camera with all modern options. Fits comfortably in the hand.

Use experience: more than a year

The hardware is excellent, I haven’t noticed any hardware glitches, there are no creaks or backlashes unless you fold it in half. For a month and a half, not a single scratch, I use it without a case or films.
After reflashing to 2.1, I was happy with everything except the battery. Yandex traffic jams on such a screen are great, you just need to cache the maps first and the traffic will only be for downloading information about traffic jams. GPRS, WIFI, "I" mail - everything works fine.
In general, the device is a test, it’s worth the money. I don’t regret buying it for 15K. I'm sure Android is the future. But if you plan to talk a lot or use it as an MP3 player, this is not your option. You don't need a smart phone at all.

Flaws: Battery. On the native firmware, the battery lasted 2.5 days, not bad for such a screen, but I updated it to 2.100.7 and it barely lasts for a day, I tried everything, nothing helps. I killed processes with Taskkiller, deleted all programs, turned off all communications - without result. Can anyone tell me if this is the case for everyone?
The lack of hardware buttons for conversations when I switched to 2.1 quickly got used to it.
With the native firmware 1.6 it is impossible to use it as a phone: you press end call with your cheek during a conversation, the ear sensor often did not work, which is why it is a pain to press end call after a conversation, and in general the telephone part was terribly buggy, the Blutooth was cut off.
Uncontrolled trips to the Internet eat up money, you always have to turn off access, fortunately it’s not difficult.

Advantages: Android 2.1 - hurricane
Appearance - looks expensive
Screen is a bomb
Games (primitive on the market, search online)
Internet surfing is very convenient
Lots of programs and games

Experience of use: several months
If you want a Google phone and are undecided, you want to try it - the ideal option. If you don't mind the money, you can consider HTC Desire, Samsung Galaxy S, but this is a completely different price category. Compared to the HTC Legend, it is more expensive, the display resolution is lower, even though it has AMOLED. Well, the other models in the category of this phone are either significantly inferior to it in terms of display, processor, or have their own, very significant drawbacks. The ability to install Android 2.2 in itself is a huge plus of this phone.

Flaws:- Stainless body. If handled carelessly, abrasions will form (not very quickly).
- The case is slightly susceptible to deformation and squeaks.
- The camera does not have a backlight. And the camera itself doesn’t have enough stars in the sky, but for a phone it’s normal.
- The side buttons are not very convenient. To the touch, you often confuse the power button with the camera button, because the phone is symmetrical at the bottom and top. The buttons themselves are located so-so.
- Bad speaker for calls. It’s not critical for me: I use “tweeter” melodies. If you play normal music, he won’t be able to play it loudly and efficiently.

Advantages:- Excellent display: rich colors, bright, excellent viewing angles, resolution 800*480.
- Original design. As noted in other reviews, people really pay attention to this phone (I often meet girls). Popular iPhones are already boring, this device looks very good. Mine is black.
- Excellent hardware filling. To the standard accelerometer, compass, GPS and so on for the platform should be added powerful processor, which for some reason is derated to 768 megahertz, but is still very fast.

Experience of use: several months

Based on the Android OS v5.1 (Lollipop), the new all-in-one form factor from Acer deserves special attention. Smartphone Liquid Z530 It has a good design with a screen the size of which reaches up to 5 inches. Frame Acer liquid z530 Made of plastic, it goes on sale in two colors: white and black. Such strict compliance does not mean its non-competitiveness, since when comparing it with other similar models - Acer Liquid M330, Acer Liquid Z630, etc., it is worth noting first of all its small size and good hardware - a quad-core processor. The proposed one also works. optimal price smartphone, allowing us to classify it as a budget model with approximately the same performance.

The basic standard of the device is fully met - SIM card, modern type Quad-core 1.3 GHz processor on the Mediatek MT6735 chipset with 2 GB of RAM and good information reading speed. The capacitive touch display has an excellent resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels, with a difference of sixteen colors. The built-in 8 GB memory is quite sufficient for storing video and photo material captured by two 8 MP cameras: with autofocus and LED flash, and a simple frontal one. Scene selection, panoramic or micro photography, face recognition and self-timer - all this accompanies the operation of the main camera of the smartphone. Thus, it completely replaces an additional bulky camera, and is not inferior in quality to its competitor. Thirty frames per second - not everyone can be pleased with such characteristics mobile device. And although GPU devices have only two cores, it clock frequency reaches six hundred megahertz. But here, as in most modern smartphones, memory expansion is provided through microSD of 32 GB to store more selfies. At the same time, one should take into account the possibilities front camera shoot a panorama within a radius of up to 88 degrees.

The presence of headphone jacks and powerful speakers allows the owner to listen to his favorite music not only recorded, but also broadcast on the radio.

There is also the possibility of a wireless connection to the Internet - Bluetooth v4.0 technology, type A2DP, is synchronized. Moreover, 3G Internet in HSPA or LTE modes is being considered. Wi-Fi with GPS is also possible, helping to accurately determine not only your location in real time, but also find the necessary objects. An important role in this case is played by the large battery capacity - 2420 mA/h, which helps the owner not to think about recharging in the next 12 hours even when active use gadget.

Accelerometer(or G-sensor) - sensor of the device’s position in space. As a main function, the accelerometer is used to automatically change the orientation of the image on the display (vertical or horizontal). Also, G-sensor is used as a pedometer, it can be controlled various functions device by turning or shaking.
Gyroscope- a sensor that measures rotation angles relative to a fixed coordinate system. Capable of measuring rotation angles in several planes simultaneously. A gyroscope together with an accelerometer allows you to accurately determine the position of the device in space. Devices that use only accelerometers have lower measurement accuracy, especially when moving quickly. Also, the capabilities of the gyroscope can be used in modern games for mobile devices.
Light sensor- a sensor that sets the optimal brightness and contrast values for a given light level. The presence of a sensor allows you to increase the battery life of the device.
Proximity sensor- a sensor that detects when the device is close to your face during a call, turns off the backlight and locks the screen, preventing accidental clicks. The presence of a sensor allows you to increase the battery life of the device.
Geomagnetic sensor- a sensor for determining the direction of the world in which the device is directed. Tracks the orientation of the device in space relative to the magnetic poles of the Earth. The information received from the sensor is used in mapping programs for terrain orientation.
Atmospheric pressure sensor- sensor for precise measurement of atmospheric pressure. It is part of the GPS system, allows you to determine altitude above sea level and speed up location determination.
Touch ID- fingerprint identification sensor.

Accelerometer / Light / Proximity

Satellite navigation:

GPS(Global Positioning System - global positioning system) - satellite system navigation, providing measurement of distance, time, speed and determining the location of objects anywhere on Earth. The system is developed, implemented and operated by the US Department of Defense. The basic principle of using the system is to determine location by measuring distances to an object from points with known coordinates - satellites. The distance is calculated by the delay time of signal propagation from sending it by the satellite to receiving it by the antenna of the GPS receiver.
GLONASS(Global Navigation Satellite System) - Soviet and Russian satellite navigation system, developed by order of the USSR Ministry of Defense. The measurement principle is similar to the American GPS navigation system. GLONASS is designed for operational navigation and timing support for land, sea, air and space-based users. The main difference from the GPS system is that GLONASS satellites in their orbital motion do not have resonance (synchrony) with the rotation of the Earth, which provides them with greater stability.
