At two and a half years old, Vadim is not childishly polite and loves construction sets. Only he can’t play them for long - he goes to rest almost every ten minutes. Vadim has Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome, which means he has virtually no immunity. This is a rare hereditary disease, a genetic mutation that affects boys.
“A completely healthy child was born. Everything was fine. The first manifestations of the disease in the form of a rash began at three months. But since there were no other manifestations, the doctors generally shrugged their shoulders and said: “Well, the child feels good. Means. Everything is fine,” recalls Vadim’s mother Elena Samkova.
But it was normal for only a short time. At one and a half years old, the baby suffered his first serious infectious disease - an intestinal infection, which provoked vomiting of blood, and tests showed a minimal level of platelets in the blood. Now he is generally prohibited from communicating with the outside world. He lives in a sterile box, into which only his mother can enter, and only after following numerous disinfection procedures.
“We have planned a transplantation of hematopoietic stem cells. The transplantation will be carried out from an unrelated but completely compatible donor. It will actually look like a transfusion of ordinary blood components.
