What is SNPC?

CISS - system continuous feed ink used in inkjet printers.

As the name suggests, the task of the system (CISS) is to ensure an uninterrupted supply of ink to the printer's print head, as it is used up. And unlike cartridges, where the amount of ink is limited by its capacity (cf. 15 ml) - external ink tanks (donors) of a much larger volume (from 100 to 1000 ml) are provided in CISS. This allows you to significantly increase the volume of printing, and most importantly, makes it possible to use alternative inks sold in packages from 100 to 1000 ml, which are much cheaper than the original ones.

In order to better understand the CISS, it is necessary to consider the principle of its operation and the constituent elements of the system.

CISS consists of: ink tanks (1), silicone cable - ink supply tubes (2), special cartridges (3) equipped with auto-chips (4).

Tanks for ink, have convenient inlet holes for refilling them with ink. They are connected by an elastic cable with special cartridges that are installed in regular places (as well as original cartridges).

As printing proceeds, the ink in the cartridges is consumed and a reduced pressure arises in them, due to which the ink is "sucked" from external containers along an elastic plume. Thus, the system of continuous ink supply to the print head of the printer is implemented.

The user only needs to occasionally add ink to the tanks, which can be done even during printing.

What are the benefits of using CISS on an inkjet printer?

reducing the cost of printing with CISS - more than 20 times! extends the life of the printer (print head) due to 100% protection against air ingress (when changing standard cartridges) the cost of printing a 10X15 photo (on top quality paper) is from 1 to 3.5 rubles. (which is cheaper than in a digital photo lab). You can print your photos at home - and save! increased print stability - the ability to print large volumes without the risk of stopping due to the end of ink in the cartridge, continuous ink supply systems are equipped with self-zeroing chips that automatically restore the ink level. preservation of factory warranties - when installing the CISS, there is no mechanical damage to the printer, i.e. at any time, you can return the printer to a warranty form by removing the system from it and installing original cartridges. the ability to use ink from alternative manufacturers, as well as other types of ink (not supplied in cartridges)

And what are the disadvantages (problems, dangers) of installing and using CISS?

By itself, CISS is no more "terrible" than regular cartridges.

And if you carefully and correctly installed everything (this is not difficult), then it will only extend the life of the printer.

When installing, you should pay special attention to the accuracy of laying the cable - because. in no case should it be intertwined and interfere with the movement of the print head.

Attention!!! What can really negatively affect the printer is low-quality ink. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you be very careful when choosing ink, do not purchase super-cheap options, because. they can damage the print head (clog). You will save significantly compared to original cartridges.

For example, the inks supplied by our company are pre-tested and tested - so we guarantee their quality.

What types of CISS are there?

1) CISS on cartridges

2) CISS on dampers

3) CISS on capsules

CISS on cartridges - the most popular. This is due to their reliability, ease of installation and operation.

In the list of CISS - arranged in order of reliability and ease of use.

Damper and capsule CISS are somewhat cheaper than cartridge ones, but only an experienced specialist can install them. In operation, these systems also require more effort and are much more "capricious" than cartridge-based CISS.

And if you have already decided that CISS on cartridges is too expensive for you, it is better to purchase refillable cartridges.

Can I install CISS myself or do I need to call the wizard for installation?

Installing the CISS is not a complicated operation, and after carefully reading the instructions, this operation will seem to you no more difficult than refilling an ink pen.

But even if you do not dare to install it yourself, you can rely on our specialists who will install it on site or in one of our offices.

As already mentioned, the average savings is 20 times and is due to the ability of CISS to use compatible inks, which are much cheaper than original cartridges.

On the example of EpsonR200/R300 printers:

Calculation of the cost of printing:

Original consumables: 1 cartridge (13 ml) = 430 A4 sheets at 5% coverage, or 21.5 sheets at 100% coverage, 6 cartridges = 129 A4 sheets at 100% coverage, ink calculation - 1 A4 sheet = 0.605 ml. The price of the cartridge is 350 rubles, i.e. 1 sheet \u003d 350 / 21.5 \u003d 16.3 rubles. Given the ink consumption per 1 A4 sheet = 0.605 ml, you can calculate the cost of printing on alternative consumables (ink).

Please note that these figures are calculated based on official Epson data (which is indicated in all documentation for cartridges and printers). In reality, the ink consumption is slightly higher than the level of 0.605 ml/A4 (at 100% coverage). However, this does not affect the final savings of 20 times, because consumption is higher both on original cartridges and on CISS with compatible inks.

* the calculations took into account only the cost of ink (without photo paper)

Is it necessary to wash the print head of the printer when installing the CISS?

The inks offered by us are fully compatible with original Epson inks, and therefore, when installing the CISS, you do not have to resort to flushing the print head. The exception is the transition from aqueous to pigment inks and vice versa. In these cases, the print head needs to be flushed.

Is there a guarantee for the printer if a CISS is installed on it?

Yes. When installing the CISS, there are no mechanical changes and damage to the printer, i.e. at any time, you can return the printer to a warranty form by removing the system from it and installing original cartridges. !!! Attention: you should not tell the service center that you have had a CISS installed, because. they may use this as an excuse to refuse repairs. Although according to the rules, they will have to prove that the refusal was due to the fault of the CISS (and this is excluded if you followed the instructions).

The printer does not print and displays a message to contact service center. What to do? (at the same time, some models also write that some part has exhausted its resource) Most likely, the counter of the ink drained during cleaning (the "diaper" counter) has overflowed and to reset it you will need a special service program. You can download it at http://www.ssclg.com/download/sscservr.exe. Program and description - Russian. There are no difficulties in using the program. You do not need to go to the service center, you can independently carry out service maintenance right at home.

Attention! After resetting the counter, be sure to change the absorbent pad or wash and dry the old one and put it back in place to prevent ink leakage.

Some users practice "permanently on mode" of the printer - i.e. they simply do not turn off the power to the printer, while they avoid unnecessary cleaning every time the printer is turned on. It also saves a lot of ink

How to distinguish good ink from bad?

Inks have many important characteristics that require testing to determine the quality of the ink.

We would like to draw your attention to the following points:

1) Ink color test is a simple process, just print a couple of test pages on different types paper. (this is a fairly simple operation)) much more important is the observance of the optimal viscosity by the ink manufacturer and high-quality filtration.

We draw your attention to the fact that today on the market you can find a lot of super-cheap ink, the quality of which is doubtful and may fluctuate from batch to batch.

Poor quality ink - can lead to a complete failure of the print head, the replacement of which is comparable in price to the cost of the printer. Buy ink only in trusted places!

How to make a continuous ink supply system for the EPSON Stylus Photo 830 printer

Now there is a lot of talk about continuous (uninterrupted) ink supply systems - CISS. What it is is clear from the name itself.

Despite future savings, not every user can immediately allocate funds for the purchase of a ready-made set. Therefore, in this article I will try to tell you in detail how you can do it on your own.

So let's get started. I will take Epson Photo 830 as the basis for describing the technique. Let's take a couple of original empty cartridges from it. Why originals, you ask? Because the only plus of these cartridges is the presence of a check valve that prevents ink from leaking out of the outlets. This will be of great use to you.

In the online store resetters-ru, I ordered a six-channel tube, two auto-zeroing chips (AO-chips) and six cans of WWM ink. This will all come in handy later.

Carefully remove the original chips from the cartridges and sell them to a neighbor. :-) You won't need them anymore.

We disassemble the prepared cartridges with a screwdriver, a clerical knife or something else. By picking and bending the cover, remove it completely.

Thoroughly rinse the cartridges and the foam rubber in them. The foam rubber must be removed, each separately washed, squeezed out. Spread everything out to dry. After all this is dry, proceed to the next steps. (For reference, the mass of dry cartridges: T026 - 18g, T027 - 42g, if you have more, then it is not completely dry)

The next step is to glue the AO-chips in place of the original chips, respectively, without confusing the chips.

We take the cover of each cartridge, tubes. Please note that these cartridges have holes under the film in the middle and, fortunately, almost directly under the diameter of the tubes.

So, we push the tubes, respectively, as shown in the figure. We coat with glue "super-moment" of the junction, both above and below the cover. Carefully, but do not pour a lot of glue, since with a large amount it begins to lose its properties. Be sure to fill the air holes in the cartridge with glue, otherwise the ink from the tubes will not enter the cartridge (the air holes are shown in the figure with a clerical knife). Don't forget to glue them all! In this case, there should be six of them - five in color and one in black.

After the glue has dried everywhere, we lower the cover with the tubes onto the foam rubber cartridge, after carefully smearing the entire contact part of the lower base with the same “super-moment”. We press it all on top with something, but so as not to pinch the tubes, even though they are elastic.

We take an ordinary paper clip, but better multi-colored in a casing, cut it off and bend it with the letter “P”.

Having smeared it with glue, we collect the tubes under it and glue the structure to the color cartridge, at the same time gluing the tubes to it.

This is necessary so that then the tubes do not hang out in the printer.

When everything is dry, the CISS is almost ready. We make two holes in the lids of WWM ink cans. One for the tube (and it’s better if it’s tight), one thin one for air supply. A personal recommendation is to cut a small cylinder out of foam rubber according to the diameter of the lid and glue it to it. Why is this needed? So that any garbage from the atmosphere does not enter the jar, respectively, and into the ink. It remains to install the CISS. To do this, you will need a large clamp. Remove the cartridge latches from the printer - you no longer need them. Install the received "CISS-cartridges" instead of the usual ones and press them into the girth with a clamp. Next, you need to fix the tube in the middle of the printer. To do this, you can use a regular clerical clip, but everyone does it differently. It is important that the tubes are fixed in the middle. On the right, they can be attached with ordinary tape and the ends lowered into the appropriate jars. Try not to mix them up! Otherwise, the result will be wasted ink. And more! :-) All. CISS is ready. Enjoy.

Instructions for refilling CISS with ink (option 1)

You will need: 4 - 8 (depending on the number of flowers) syringes with a capacity of 50 ml for refilling CISS. You can get by with one syringe, provided it is thoroughly washed and dried after filling each color.

1. Remove the plug from the ink bottle filling port.

Note: Do not remove the plug from the vent hole to prevent ink from entering the pressure compensation compartment (Figure 1).

3. Plug the filling holes with plugs, then remove the plug from the vent hole (Fig. 4).

8. Using a syringe with a needle, draw ink out through the vent until the ink level in the pressure compensation compartment is 2-3 cm below the ink level in the main tank (Fig. 9).

9. Place the filters in the air vents (Fig. 10).

10. Install the CISS cartridges in the printer (see "Installing the CISS in the printer").

Instructions for refilling CISS with ink (option 2)

You will need: a stationery knife and 4 - 8 (depending on the number of colors) 20-50 ml syringes for filling ink containers and filling (pulling) the system. You can get by with one syringe of 20-50 ml, provided that it is thoroughly washed and dried after filling each color.

1. Remove the caps from the fill and vent holes of the ink bottle (Figure 1).

2. Pour the ink into the tank (Fig. 2) so that the level does not reach 1 cm from the filling hole. (Fig. 3).

3. Close the filling holes with plugs, put the filters in the ventilation holes (Fig. 4).

4. Take a syringe with a capacity of 20-50 ml and make a triangular cut on the spout with a clerical knife (Fig. 5).

5. Carefully, so as not to damage the rubber seal, pierce the protective film on the cartridge.

6. Turn the cartridge upside down. Insert the syringe into the cartridge as far as it will go to open the valve (Fig. 6). Carefully! Do not damage the rubber seal and the valve itself!

7. While pulling out the plunger of the syringe, fill the hose and cartridge with ink (Fig. 7). This will take 1-2 pulls. Excess ink that has fallen into the syringe can be drained back into the CISS container.

8. After filling the system, add ink to the tanks according to step 2.

9. Remove the air filters and use a syringe with a needle to draw ink through the vent holes until the ink level in the pressure compensation compartment is 2-3 cm lower than the ink level in the main tank (Fig. 8).

10. Put the filters back into the vents (Fig. 9).

11. Install the CISS cartridges in the printer (see "Installing the CISS in the printer").

Print test page(nozzle check), if everything is in order, the printer is ready for use. If the test showed that not all nozzles work, run the head cleaning procedure 2-3 times and leave the printer for 0.5-2 hours.

Attention: It is strictly forbidden to lift containers (cans) with ink above the level of the printer - as this will lead to leakage of ink through the print head!

It's no secret that the use inkjet printers, MFPs and plotters has a number of advantages compared to laser printers. Inkjet printers produce high-resolution, professional-quality color images and photographs. Very often, the need to print full-color images arises in an office or production environment. As a rule, the volume of printing in the office is several times higher than the volume of printing in the home, so the use And , in this case is unacceptable. To save money, with medium and large volumes of printing, as well as to ensure the smooth operation of the printing device, it is best to use CISS.

Let's answer some popular questions:

What is SNPC?

CISS (Continuous Ink Supply System) is a special device that is installed in an inkjet printer, MFP or plotter and provides a continuous supply of ink to the print head. In most cases, CISS works on the principle of the Mariotte vessel. For various conditions, volumes and requirements for speed and quality of printing, there are several types of CISS (capsule, cartridge and loopless).

- Cartridge CISS

The most common type of CISS today is a continuous ink cartridge system. The cartridge system consists of external ink tanks, an ink cable and a cartridge part. External containers are filled with ink and placed next to the printer. As the ink is consumed, the ink enters the cartridge part along the ink plume. The cartridge part of the CISS in shape completely repeats the shape of the original cartridges. A resettable chip is installed on the cartridge part, which allows the printer to recognize the CISS as original cartridges and reset the ink counter value.

- Capsular CISS

Capsular CISS almost completely repeats the design of the cartridge. The difference is that instead of the cartridge part, the capsule CISS uses capsules that are put on the receiving fittings of the print head. This design allows ink to be injected directly into the print head, thus ensuring maximum print stability at any print volume.

- Loopless CISS

The loopless CISS appeared on the market of compatible consumables relatively recently. The first, and so far the only, manufacturer of loopless CISS is the BURSTEN company. The design of the loopless CISS is significantly different from other types of continuous ink supply systems, and is more reminiscent of refillable cartridges. The cableless CISS consists of a special frame with a chip that is installed in the printer carriage and two sets of ink tanks, which allows you to change empty containers almost instantly.

How to choose a CISS for a printer?

When choosing a CISS, it is worth considering the volume of printing and the intensity of use of the printer.
