The main thing it can do is allow the player to get any block imaginable. You can also view recipes for crafting and burning things, and in addition, enchant any item with the selected spell. On the left side of the interface added by the Not Enought Items modification, there are buttons for switching weather and time - you can set day, night, sun or rain in one click. It is also possible to quickly switch from creative mode to survival mode - this will be very useful if, for example, you are being chased by a crowd of monsters and there is nowhere to hide. In general, the mod for Minecraft Not Enough Items 1.6.4/1.7.2/1.7.10 is very useful, and most importantly, very easy to use.

Installing the mod

  • Download the Not Enough Items mod for Minecraft 1.6.4, 1.7.2 or 1.7.10 and the supporting mod CodeChickenCore.
  • Install Minecraft Forge.
  • Copy files with mods for the selected version of the game to the /mods/ folder
  • Launch the game

Unlike everyone’s favorite Too Many Items, which was taken as the basis for the Not Enough Items modification, which can be downloaded on this page, the development of the new mod fell into the right hands. The creators retained the features of the above-mentioned mod and were able to bring a lot useful additions, who made NEI for Minecraft 1.7.10, 1.8 a perfect mod.



Among the innovations, functions have been added from the Recipe Book, allowing you to view recipes for crafting items. Players now have access to potion recipes. The main feature remains the ability of the Not Enough Items mod to be combined with any of the modifications, which allows you to add new items and blocks to your Minecraft inventory. Changing the time of day, game mode, turning rainfall on and off, and instantly clearing your inventory remained untouched and is done in one click. Minecraft has added buttons for instantly restoring health and turning on a magnet (attracting the nearest thing). The right panel has acquired object search and sorting.



The Not Enough Items modification for MInecraft 1.8/1.7.10 is incredibly useful. The player will be able to completely customize it to suit their own needs. The options change the cheat mode to the usual study of crafting items. The NEI mod can be used as a regular hint.

  • R- Recipe for crafting an object.
  • U- Show in which crafts this item is used.
  • X- Window for enchanting items.
  • P- Potion brewing window.

When reviewing recipes, there are 2 functions: Recipes and Application. By pressing the recipe button (“R” by default) or application (“U” by default) and hovering the cursor over the object, you will open the corresponding display mode. In the recipe window itself, left-clicking on an ingredient will open its recipe window, and right-clicking will open its application window. The return button (“BACKSPACE” by default) will display the previous recipe, and the Esc or inventory key will close the window.

Recipe overview displays everything possible ways craft an object, whether crafting at a workbench, in a furnace, in a brewing rack, or with any added crafting method (for example, a smelting furnace in the RP2 mod).


Unlike the Craft Guide, if the recipe can be used different types the same item (for example, wool of different colors or different types tree), all subtypes will be displayed in a circle in the ingredient cell. For example, wool will change colors.



In application mode, all recipes that use the selected item are displayed.



The mode also displays recipes that do not necessarily have the exact location of the ingredients.


Button "?" will appear if the recipe type matches the mechanism you have opened. For example, when using a workbench, a precision crafting recipe is displayed.



Clicking this button will take you back to the crafting mode, where you will see where each object should be placed.

Hidden Object Window:
The search window is a black rectangle at the bottom of the screen. The item panel will only display those objects whose name contains the text entered in the search window. To enter text, you need to click on the rectangle. Right-clicking will instantly clear the search box. The keyboard case does not matter. Each search text is saved into memory and loaded again when the game is started again.


The search box supports the metacharacters * (any string of characters) and ? (any single character), as well as complex java.regex matching patterns. As an example, "Bl?ck" will display items that have "Black" and "Block" in their name. While "^Block" will show items that start with the word "block" such as "Block Breaker", and "block$" will show items ending with "block" such as "noteblock" or "diamond block" .


Item categories:
The Item Subsets button opens a drop-down menu displaying a variety of different groups items. Clicking on a group will display all the objects it contains, while right-clicking will hide them. Double clicking will display only the objects in the selected group.


Mods can use the API to create their own category tags.


Clicking on a group while holding down the Shift key will lead to entering “@group_name” in the search window, thereby only objects from this group will be displayed in the item panel.


Double-clicking the Item Subsets button will display the category save buttons. The usual functions of saving, loading, renaming, deleting are available here, but they apply to displayed or hidden objects.


You can also create your own groups using the configuration file located in ".minecraftconfigNEISubsSet".

Enchanting Window:
By pressing the enchantment key (“X” by default), you will open the enchantment window interface. Here you can add an item to and select the available enchantment for it and its level. The level can be raised to a maximum of X (10). Clicking on an enchantment turns it on and off. (To eliminate unpleasant bugs) There are rules for conflict between different enchantments, so you cannot add, for example, Luck and Silk Touch to one item. Unfortunately, due to space limitations, some names may be abbreviated. For example, Protection will be shortened to Protect if set to level 8, since "VIII" takes up a lot of space.




Basket:
The trash button has 4 uses. All methods are available both in your personal inventory and in any other (for example, when opening a chest).
  1. Click on the button while holding the item - the item will be deleted.

  2. By holding SHIFT, you will remove all items of this type in your inventory.

  3. Click the button without holding the item, but holding SHIFT and clear your inventory completely.

  4. A simple click on the button will launch Trash Mode.
Trash mode:
When the mode is running, every item you click on will be deleted. By holding SHIFT, you will remove all items of this type.

Creative mode:
Clicking the C button will launch creative mode. Everything is obvious here. Pressing a button simply changes the mode from creative to survival and back again. Please note that on the SMP server only your game mode will change, not the entire server.

Rain:
Everything is obvious here too. If it's raining, the button will be available. Clicking it will stop the rain.

Magnetism:
The last of the switches. If magnetism is turned on, all nearby objects will fly in your direction. Although this won't work if the inventory is full.


Useful buttons:
4 buttons with the image of the sun and moon are responsible for changing the time of day. Pressing them will change the time to Dawn, Noon, Sunset or Midnight. Time changes only in the direction of the future, so as not to disrupt the operation of time-dependent mechanisms. So pressing the Noon button several times will skip several days.

The heart button will increase the player's health and hunger, as well as prevent burning.

Save slots:
There are 7 save slots that allow you to save all your inventory and armor. Right-clicking will allow you to rename the slot. An “x” button appears next to the recorded slot; clicking on it will clear the slot. Save slots are global and can be used in different worlds and servers.


Options menu:
This is a standard settings menu made in Minecraft design. Various settings are available in it, including setting hot keys.




First button is responsible for enabling and disabling NEI. If the mod is disabled, you will only have access to the options menu. The switches in SMP and SSP modes are independent of each other.

Button Cheat Mode Switches between Cheat Mode and Recipe Mode. Recipe mode is intended for fair play and only displays recipes. Save slots and switches are not available, and the item panel does not allow you to add an item to your inventory.

Extra Cheats determines whether the Create, Rain, Magnet, Time and Heal buttons will be available.

Button Style switches button mapping between standard Minecraft style and old mod style Too Many Items (shown below).


Item IDs turns on and off the item ID number display. This setting will work on all items in your inventory and in the item panel.

This button has three modes: Shown, Auto and Hidden. Auto will only display item IDs if the NEI mod itself is enabled.

This setting has the additional feature of displaying the exact damage to the item. For example, the sapphire pickaxe in the picture below received 6 points of damage.


Save states simply determines whether save slots will be displayed or not.

If Item drops is disabled, all dropped items will be removed. So an item mined or thrown out of the inventory automatically disappears. This setting was added to get rid of lags.

Hotkeys work as usual. Click on them and press the key you want to set.

Mob spawners:
NEI makes all types of spawners available in your inventory and for placement in the game. All mobs added using mods also have an available spawner. The spawner in the inventory displays its contents in the same way as blocks. Hostile mobs are shown with a red name, while passive mobs are shown with a blue name. A bug in multiplayer where all spawners were displayed with pigs inside has been fixed. For any user with NEI installed (even if he is not an administrator), spawners will be displayed correctly on the server with NEI.


Useful features:
Ctrl-clicking on an item in the inventory or item panel will increase the quantity of the item. If you pick up an item and put it in a container while holding shift, the container will contain all items of that type from your inventory. Useful for moving all existing cobblestones into a chest.

SMP:
Everything that can be done in single player mode is also available in multiplayer if NEI is installed on the server. If the mod is not installed on the server, you can still add items to your inventory using the give command as an admin. Most features are only available to admins.

Configuration file:
Many NEI settings are available in the "configNEI.cfg" file. But most of them can be changed in the mod's options menu.

Server configurations:
Along with the server, a configuration file “configNEIServer.cfg” will be created containing various server settings. Comments in the file explain the available functions. In short, using a file you can assign certain functions to a certain player. So, for example, you can decide who can use enchantments that are only available to admins, etc. There is also a section for prohibited blocks - these blocks will not appear in the user's item panel. By default, admin is disabled, so it is not available to players (unless you add their name to the exceptions).

Extended API:
NEI has an extended API built-in, which allows you to correctly integrate other mods. This is demonstrated by the RedPower module, which adds smelter recipes and special item categories.

Of course, there are many other types of crafting, such as the BTW anvil, a bunch of stuff in IC2, etc. However, the mod uses only the smelting furnace from the RedPower mod. However, the author of NEI suggests that modders create small modules following the example of RedPower.

The source code should help modders get their bearings. NEI uses a configuration loading system similar to ModLoader. Just refer to your configuration class NEI****Config.class and implement IConfigureNEI in the package with your mods. Any reference to NEI must occur through this class or subclasses. Your mod should not directly access NEI functions or classes, as this will make the mod dependent on NEI to function. Just add a configuration file and classes to your mod and it will work with NEI installed.
