Modern smart algorithms allow you to improve a photo even after it is taken. But most methods involve using graphic editors, the development of which is difficult for many. And many people simply don’t have time to delve into the settings and capabilities of numerous tools. You can quickly apply some kind of filter and change the contrast of a photo in a couple of movements, but retouching or removing details, or even people accidentally caught in the frame, will be much more difficult.
How to remove unnecessary objects from a photo using TouchRetouch
1 . Open the application, click on " Albums» and select a photo.
2 . Zoom in on the part of the image you want to remove.
3 . Press " Deleting objects". By default, the tool will open Brush" In one motion, “paint over” the extra object. Press " Forward».

Bye Bye Camera was created by Do Something Good to automatically remove people from photos. Special smart self-learning algorithms are used. When artificial intelligence analyzes a photo and detects the contours of a person’s body on it, the object is retouched, and the background is automatically drawn in its place. This results in a photograph with no people in it. This is very convenient, for example, when post-processing landscapes. Each of us has encountered a situation where beautiful view spoiled by a person accidentally entering the frame.
The presented pictures clearly demonstrate the operation of the application - people actually disappear from the frame, but some signs of their former presence in the picture remain.
For example, algorithms have not yet learned how to remove shadows. And animals are poorly retouched. So, if there is a dog in the hands of a person, it will disappear along with the owner, but the creature standing next to the person will remain in the same place.
The background also greatly influences the quality of retouching. If it is colorful, then the algorithm has to figure out a lot of small details. Most likely, this will negatively affect the final result. But if the background is more or less complete, then after processing the photo it will be difficult to notice signs of post-processing. Whether such a result is worth the asking price for the application is up to you to decide.
Instructions
Select the Clone Stamp Tool from the Tools panel. The Tools panel is located on the left side of the program window by default. You can simply use " hotkey» S.
Configure the parameters of the Clone Stamp Tool. To do this, left-click on the triangle next to the Brush palette, which by default is located in the upper left part of the window, under the main menu.
The Clone Stamp Tool, like any brush, has two parameters: Master Diameter and Hardness, which are adjusted with sliders. You can also enter numeric parameter values in the fields above the sliders in order to customize these parameters. The first parameter determines the size of the brush with which we will remove unnecessary objects from the photo. The second parameter determines the degree of hardness of the edges of the brush.
In order to remove unnecessary objects from our photo, first select a semi-soft large brush.
Enlarge the image for easier viewing. This can be done by dragging the slider in the Navigator palette to the left, or by typing a numeric value into the field located to the left of the palette slider. The Navigator palette is located on the right by default. top corner Photoshop windows.
Determine the area of the photo that we will clone to remove unnecessary objects. To do this, move the cursor over an area of the photo that is free from wires and, while holding down the Alt button, click the left mouse button. The cursor takes the form of a circle with a crosshair inside.

A few minutes of work, and all the unnecessary objects from our photo disappeared.

It may happen that the cloning area was chosen poorly and the object that needs to be removed was covered by a spot that does not match the color of the rest of the image. It's okay, an unsuccessful action can be canceled through the History palette, which by default is located in the middle right part of the Photoshop window. The last action in this palette is highlighted in blue. Hover your cursor over the previous action above the last one and left-click.
To remove unnecessary small objects that are located at a relatively plain background It is very convenient to use semi-soft brushes. A stain or speck is one thing, but a whole object is something completely different. But this can also be fixed. The first steps will be the same as in the previous case. Open a photo, zoom in on the desired part of the image and select the object using the lasso. Then also click "Delete" and set it to "Content Aware". To remove the selection, use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+D. If some parts of the object still remain, you can remove them with a brush. Enlarge the image to 400% so that the pixels are visible, then select the Eyedropper tool. Click on the area with the appropriate color. Next, select a brush and carefully paint over the excess areas. Please note that this method only works on small objects.
To remove larger objects, you can recycle the “Stamp”. With the tool selected, set the Opacity and Pressure to 100%. Select form with blurred edges so that the changes made are as invisible as possible. Zoom in on the desired area of the image. Press Alt on your keyboard to copy a section of the background, then begin painting over the object. If the background is not uniform, press Alt and copy the necessary parts of the background. Select the desired stamp diameter; it should not be very large. If done carefully enough, the changes will be completely invisible.

Let's move on to a more complex case. Let's look at how to remove a person from a photo in Photoshop. To do this, you can use the Stamp tool you are already familiar with or apply a fill. First, select the person or part of him (depending on the background) and click “Fill (fill)”, in the window that appears, select “Taking into account content”. After this, Photoshop will fill the area you marked with pixels that are similar in color to the neighboring ones. If the background is not completely uniform, then some areas can be corrected using a stamp or brush. With such a combination of tools, you can achieve excellent results even against a complex background. The main thing is to work in pixel mode and utilize the small diameter of the brush. This is delicate work, but the result is worth it.
Content-Aware Filling
Now let's figure out how to remove a caption from a picture in Photoshop. Many users often search for an answer to this question. This problem can be solved using two tools: the Eyedropper and the Brush. Having enlarged the part of the picture with the unnecessary inscription, select the background color with an eyedropper, and then paint over the letters with a brush. To make the changes as invisible as possible, work in pixel mode, selecting the brush diameter, transparency and background color. The simplest option is to simply crop the image. Select the “Crop” tool and select the picture so that the unnecessary inscription remains clearly behind the selection line.

How to use Content Aware Fill
Step 1
Opening a photo of a woman in Photoshop File- Open(File - Open). I'll be working directly on the original photo, but you can copy it (Ctrl+J) and work on the duplicate.
Now let's activate LassoTool(L) (Lasso). We check that top panel mode was active NewSelection(New selection).
Step 2
Using Lasso, create a selection around the woman.
This is what my selection looks like:
Then we move on Edit- Fill(Editing - Fill) and in the settings select Content-Aware(Subject to content).
When finished, click OK. Then press the key combination Ctrl+D to deselect and look at the result.
How to use the Patch tool
Step 1
Next we will remove the sign on the wall using the tool PatchTool(J) (Patch). We activate it and check that the mode is selected NewSelection(New selection), Patch(Patch) installed on Normal(Normal) and active Source(Source).
Now use the mouse to select the pointer, as shown below.
Step 2
Without removing the selection, move the cursor to any area of the image that is suitable for overlap. For example, I moved the selection to the right to the area suitable for cloning and released the mouse button. The Patch Tool automatically clones the selected area and overlays the selection.
You can move the selection up, down, right or left and then release the mouse button.
As you can see, we removed two objects from the photo in just a few minutes using basic Photoshop tools:
How to use the Stamp tool
Step 1
Open the photo with the old man in Photoshop. Duplicate (Ctrl+J) the original layer and name the copy “Cut Object”. By using PenTool(P) (Feather) select the man and add a mask to the layer Layer- LayerMask- RevealAll(Layer - Layer Mask - Show All).
Next we need to expand the selected area, as I did in the background blur tutorial. Hold down the Ctrl key and left-click on the mask thumbnail in the layers panel to load the selection of the man. Select the original layer and go Select- Modify- Expand(Select - Modify - Expand). In the window that opens, enter 5 pixels and click OK.
Now, to remove the man, apply a fill to him Content-Aware(Content Based) that we used at the beginning of the lesson.
We have the main object of the photo cut out on a separate layer, and we can continue to remove excess from the original layer.
Step 2
Activate CloneStampTool(S) (Stamp) and check that the parameter Sample(Sample) was set to CurrentandBelow(Active and below). This function will allow us to work on an empty layer, while taking samples for cloning from the layer below.
Press Ctrl+Shift+N to create a new layer, which we call “Clone”. Place it above the original layer and use the Stamp to begin cloning the tile. To take a sample, hold down the Alt key and click on the area that you want to clone, then drag the brush over the area with the details that you want to hide.

Step 3
By using RectangularMarqueeTool(M) (Rectangular Selection) Select the top part of the door. Copy (Ctrl+C) the selected area and paste (Ctrl+V) it onto a new layer.
Using Free Transform (Ctrl+T) we stretch the copied part down to the very base of the door. To do this, pull the lower central anchor point.
Step 4
Add a mask to the layer with part of the door and use a black brush (B) to paint over the mask to remove the area that overlapped the handle in the original photo.
Non-destructive removal of any objects
Before we continue, I want to show you a trick that will allow you to clone an area without editing the original layer.
First, create a combined copy of all layers (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+E).
We add a new layer above this copy and continue cloning on it, while we do not touch the original layer, which we still have as backup copy. Just make sure that when working with Stamp in the options bar Sample(Sample) was set to CurrentandBelow(Active and below) as we did in Step 2 so that we can take the sample to clone from the layer below.
In the event that you want to return to working with those layers that are below the merged copy, simply delete this copy. In the next step I will work with the merged copy to hide the remaining parts of the motorcycle.
Step 5
We continue to remove the motorcycle.
