If you are not satisfied with the maximum volume of your headphones, but also have no desire to buy new ones - with lower impedance - then there are several simple ways to cope with this problem.

Check the connection quality

The device may have the wrong connector or the plug is not inserted tightly. It should insert with a characteristic click. In addition, if we are talking about a computer, a corresponding icon will appear in the tray, confirming that the connection was successful.

By clicking on this icon, set the volume to maximum and check the sound. If you are watching a movie or listening to music on an audio or video player, also check the volume. Some programs, such as Media Player Classic, allow you to increase the volume even above the 100% mark.

Check your settings

Go to the “Control Panel” of Windows 7 and find the “Sound” icon there. After selecting it, check for the presence of headphones in the list of devices, and also by right-clicking on them, make sure that they are activated.

After that, double-click on the line with headphones to open their properties. Next, on the “Advanced Features” tab, check the box next to “Sound Leveling” if it is not already checked. Click “Apply” and test the sound.

Check your drivers

Make sure your device has the latest sound drivers. An unsuitable driver will either not allow the headphones to be recognized at all, or their functionality will be minimal. The most common driver-related problems:

  • bugs made by developers (usually fixed with the release of new versions);
  • the driver version is not suitable for the specific version of the operating system;
  • The driver is conflicting with one or more media devices.

Drivers can be updated through the official website of the headphone manufacturer by selecting the model with which you are having a problem. To do this, you also need to know the OS version and its bit depth.

There are special utilities for controlling drivers that will do everything for you. For example, DriverPack Solution or Driver Booster. The program will scan your computer, determine the models and versions of connected devices, and automatically download drivers that are ideal for them.

Before this, you can check for problems with drivers through Device Manager (if there are exclamation marks near one or more items, this may be the reason for the headphones not working properly).

Use sound enhancement programs

One such program is Sound Booster, but there are several similar ones. The software can increase the sound volume up to 500% in some programs - Skype, audio and video players, Internet browsers.

It is convenient to control the volume; you can do this using hot keys. It is also possible to set these programs to autorun so that they appear in the tray immediately after turning on the computer. If the program is developed with high quality, it will not distort the sound due to the presence of certain filters.

Increase the volume of an individual track

Today, there are many programs that will help enhance the sound of a specific melody if only it is playing quietly. For example:

1. Audio editors such as Adobe Audition or Sony Sound Forge. These two programs are distinguished by the fastest file processing speed and compression percentage. With their help, you can perform any desired manipulations with the track, including increasing the volume.

2. If you need to enhance the sound of several tracks at once, try the mp3gain program. It can batch edit some parameters of audio recordings.

If nothing could be done programmatically, then the problem is most likely in the hardware.

Possible causes of low sound

The following factors directly or indirectly affect the sound volume in headphones:

  • current strength in the turns area, depending on the power of the audio card amplifier;
  • coil resistance in the membrane;
  • possible recoil of the diffuser (membrane) itself;
  • transition resistance acting in the connectors.

One of the most logical ways to increase the volume of your headphones is to increase the current flow. In simple terms, programmatically increase the volume. We have already looked at ways to do this. Please note that if wheezing and creaking appear, then the speaker simply does not support the volume you have selected.

If software methods fail, the problem is most likely a lack of matching between the amplifier's output stage and the impedance supplied by the headphone coil. This is possible if the amplifier supports a load of 4 ohms, and specific headphones are equipped with an impedance of 32 ohms. Then all that remains is to think about purchasing another model.

You can also try cleaning the connector that connects the headphones to the audio card with sandpaper (zero sandpaper). And don't forget to test your headphones with another device to make sure they are the problem.

Some users have found another way for themselves - they connect headphones to the input on the speakers, and the speakers themselves to the sound card. It is noted that in this case the headphones sound much louder.

You can adjust the sound level in Apple phones and tablets using the built-in equalizer. Go to Settings and select “Equalizer”. Select the preset Late Night option.

How to increase the sound in headphones is a fairly pressing question for those who are used to frequently listening to music and watching movies on a PC without speakers. You can solve the problem using the settings of the computer itself or use additional software resources.

How to increase the sound in headphones using standard methods?

  1. Check if you have an equalizer on your computer; if you find it, go to the settings menu and turn up the volume to the level you need. The tinctures should be saved.
  2. You can also try increasing the sound volume using operating system resources. To do this, look at the “Start” menu, find the “sound” tab in the “control panel”, select the headphones icon and click on the “volume equalization” line.
  3. If you play music or watch a movie, you can amplify the sound in the player itself. To do this, find the corresponding icon and move the slider along the scale to the position you need.

How else can you increase the volume on your headphones?

You can also use special programs. They are easy to download from the Internet and, as a rule, they are absolutely free. For example, you may find it useful to use an audio file editor such as Adobe Audition or Sony Sound Forge. With their help, you can process any track, improving its quality and, among other things, increasing the sound volume. The edited file should be saved on your computer and started again to listen.

In addition, you can try the MP3Gain application, which has only one function - to enhance the sound of tracks. Its advantage is that it can edit multiple files at once, which is very convenient. Using the program is very simple: just download it from the network, run it on your computer, process the necessary files and save them in a separate folder.

While working at a computer or laptop, you use a headset to listen to audio recordings individually. And you have already come across the question more than once - how to increase the volume in your headphones? Let's consider several options.

When connecting headphones to a jack on any device, make sure that you insert the jack all the way until you hear a characteristic click. On the monitor screen in the lower right corner there is a system tray in which the headphone icon will appear. Don't forget to immediately increase the volume using the control located on the headset cord. When using headphones to watch movies and listen to music, you have the ability to adjust the volume in the player at your discretion.

If you have made sure that the volume on the headphones and in the program is increased, but the volume is still not enough, then the last option comes to the rescue. Go to your computer settings through the Start menu and select Control Panel.

Find the “Sound” section and open it. The “Headphones” item must be activated in the context menu. Double-click on the icon with the right mouse button, and the properties of your headset will appear in the next window. In the “Advanced Features” tab, select “Volume Leveling” and check the box.

Here you can immediately try increasing the volume of sounds. To do this, click “Listen” and feel the difference. Before closing the window, do not forget to press the “Apply” button and then “OK”. Only in this case the changes that have occurred will be saved.

If the above methods did not help you increase the volume, test the headset on another device; perhaps it’s time to replace the headphones or computer sound card, or reinstall the sound drivers.

Quite often, users are faced with the problem of different volume levels: in speakers it is higher, in headphones it is much weaker. There may be several reasons for this phenomenon: inappropriate Windows settings, outdated drivers, technical features of the equipment. In this article we will figure out how to increase the sound in headphones on a computer, one by one checking the indicated sources of the problem.

Boosting sound using standard settings

First of all, after connecting the headphones, you need to check the system settings. In Windows 10, click on the speaker icon in the tray and drag the slider to the right to increase the volume. If there is no sound at all, you need to change the output source: click on the name of the device, which is located above the slider, and select another output option from the drop-down list.

We have now covered the basic volume parameters that should be checked before delving into the topic. Next, let's look at more subtle settings:

After completing step five, the sound volume should increase significantly. The parameter eliminates differences in perception taking into account the characteristics of the human ear.

Driver Update

If following the recommendations does not lead to the expected result, you should update your sound card drivers. They may be out of date or installed in a way that does not match the hardware on your computer. Let's look at the procedure step by step:

If there is still quiet sound on the laptop, remove the devices (the action is selected in the context menu that appears in step No. 4). After this, restart the computer - when the system starts, the removed equipment will be detected and the software will be installed again.

Another option is to independently search and install drivers from the manufacturer’s website. To do this, you need to visit the Realtek website and download the software in accordance with the version and bitness of Windows.

Sound amplification programs

When the quiet sound is due to the technical features of the file or equipment being played, the solution is to use special amplification programs. Let's take Sound Booster as an example. It will become an indispensable assistant in cases where the volume is too low, but at the same time there is confidence that headphones or speakers can provide much more powerful sound.

The utility is capable of raising the volume up to 500% in browsers, instant messengers (Skype, Telegram, etc.), players and games. The sound level is adjusted using a pop-up slider in the system tray. Alternatively, hotkeys can be used. In the settings you can activate autorun. By increasing the volume judiciously, any distortion will be avoided.

Greetings to all!

I think I’m not lying if I say that most users face a similar problem! Moreover, sometimes solving it is far from so simple: you have to install several versions of drivers, check the speakers (headphones) for functionality, and make the appropriate settings for Windows 7, 8, 10.

In this article, I will focus on the most popular reasons why the sound on a computer may be quiet.

1. By the way, if you have no sound at all on your PC, I recommend reading this article:

2. If your sound is quiet only when watching a particular movie, I recommend using it (or opening it in another player).

Poor contact connectors, not working headphones/speakers

Quite a common reason. This usually happens with “old” PC (laptop) sound cards, when various sound devices have already been inserted/removed into their connectors hundreds of times. Because of this, the contact becomes poor and as a result you observe a quiet sound...

I had exactly the same problem on my home computer: the contact would come off - the sound would become very quiet, I had to get up, go to the system unit and straighten the wire coming from the speakers. I solved the problem quickly, but “clumsily” - I simply taped the wire from the speakers to the computer desk with tape so that it would not dangle or come off.

By the way, many headphones have an additional volume control - pay attention to it too! In any case, if you have a similar problem, first of all, I recommend starting by checking the inputs and outputs, wires, and the functionality of the headphones and speakers (to do this, you can connect them to another PC/laptop and check their volume there).

Are the drivers normal, do they need an update? Are there any conflicts or errors?

About half of software problems with a computer are related to drivers:

Errors from driver developers (usually they are fixed in newer versions, which is why it is important to check for updates);

Incorrect driver versions selected for this Windows OS;

Driver conflicts (most often this happens with various multimedia devices. For example, I had one TV tuner that did not want to “transmit” sound to the built-in sound card, it was impossible to do without cunning tricks in the form of third-party drivers).

Driver Update:

How to find out the PC characteristics (needed to choose the right driver):

2) It’s also a good option to use special. utilities for updating drivers. I talked about them in one of my previous articles:

one of the special utilities: SlimDrivers - you need to update your audio drivers.

3) You can check the driver and download the update in Windows 7, 8 itself. To do this, go to "Control Panel" OS, then go to "System and safety", and then open the tab "Device Manager".

In Device Manager, open the "Sound, video, and game devices" list. Then you need to right-click on the sound card driver and select “Update drivers...” in the context menu.

Important!

Please note that in the device manager there are no exclamation marks (neither yellow, nor especially red) next to your audio drivers. The presence of these signs, as in the screenshot below, indicates conflicts and driver errors. Although, most often, with such problems there should be no sound at all!

How to increase volume in Windows 7, 8

If there are no hardware problems with the headphones, speakers and PC, the drivers are updated and in order - then 99% of the quiet sound on the computer is associated with the Windows OS settings (or with the settings of the same drivers). Let's try to adjust both, thereby increasing the volume.

2) The second step is to check the sound volume by clicking on the icon in the tray (next to the clock). If necessary, move the slider up, thereby increasing the volume to maximum!

The volume in Windows is about 90%!

3) To fine-tune the volume, go to the Windows Control Panel, then go to the " equipment and sound". In this section we will be interested in two tabs: “ volume setting" And " audio device management«.

Windows 7 - hardware and sound.

4) In the tab " volume setting» You can adjust the playback volume in all applications. For now, I recommend just raising all the sliders to maximum.

5) But in the tab “ Audio device management"It's getting more and more interesting!

Here you need to select the device through which your computer or laptop plays sound. As a rule, these are speakers or headphones (there will probably be a volume slider running next to them if you have something playing at the moment).

So, you need to go to the properties of the playback device (in my case, these are speakers).

Playback device properties.

Levels: here you need to move the sliders to maximum (levels is the volume level of the microphone and speakers);

Special: uncheck the box next to “Limited output” (you may not have this tab);

Improvement: here you need to check the box next to the “Loud Compensation” item, and uncheck the rest of the settings, see the screenshot below (this is in Windows 7, in Windows 8 “ Properties->Advanced Features->Volume Leveling" (tick)).

Windows 7: Volume setting to maximum.

If all else fails, there is still a quiet sound...

If you have tried all the recommendations above, and the sound still does not get louder, I recommend doing this: check the driver settings (if everything is OK, then use a special program to increase the volume). By the way, special The program is also convenient to use when the sound is quiet when watching a particular movie, but in other cases there are no problems with it.

1) Checking and setting up the driver (using Realtek as an example)

It’s just that Realtek is the most popular, and it’s installed on my PC, which I’m currently working on.

In general, the Realtek icon is usually displayed in the tray, next to the clock. If you don’t have it, like me, you need to go to the Windows control panel.

Realtek HD Manager.

2) Use of special programs to increase volume

There are programs that can increase the playback volume of a particular file (and indeed the sounds of the system as a whole). I think many people have encountered the fact that they come across “crooked” video files that have very quiet sound.

Alternatively, you can open them with another player and turn up the volume in it (for example, VLC allows you to turn up the volume above 100%, more about players:); or use Sound Booster (for example).

Sound Booster

What the program can do:

Increase volume: Sound Booster easily boosts audio volume up to 500% in programs such as web browsers, communication programs (Skype, MSN, Live and others), as well as in any video or audio player;

Easy and convenient volume control (including using hot keys);

Autorun (you can configure it so that when Windows starts, Sound Booster also starts, which means you won’t have problems with sound);

There is no sound distortion, as in many other programs of this kind (Sound Booster uses excellent filters that help preserve almost the original sound).

That's all for me. How did you solve problems with sound volume?

By the way, another good option is to buy new speakers with a powerful amplifier! Good luck!
