It happens that the printing device is primed and ready to work, but for some reason it does not print - it does not accept jobs sent for printing via the computer. In this case, the printer is not to blame; you need to carefully review your PC settings and update the printing device drivers; an experienced user will be able to solve this problem in 5-10 minutes.

First, you should make sure that the printer is connected to the PC and to the network, and check the integrity of the cords and cables. If several printers are connected to your computer, then you need to check whether yours is selected as the main device for printing (there should be a check mark next to the name). Another reason for printing to freeze is a crash in Windows, which often happens if the printer is connected to a local network and is actively used by several users. Sometimes printing may stop due to a damaged file - in this case, you need to clear the print queue and restart the printer. This can be done through the control menu by selecting the “Small Icons” view mode and the “Devices and Printers” tab.

Sometimes the printer refuses to print because it is missing or jammed. Typically, Windows will promptly report paper problems, but there may be exceptions. Sheets often wrinkle during large volumes of printing, as well as when using used paper, which does not always have a uniform texture. You need to remove a jammed sheet from the printer very carefully, otherwise you can tear the paper and the fragment that remains inside the mechanism will not allow you to print normally.

Another common problem why the printer does not print is a problem with the cartridge or a missing cartridge. It is necessary to check the amount of paint - either visually or through the computer in the control panel. These problems can be solved in a matter of minutes, the main thing is to use high quality consumables.

The problem when the printer does not print is probably familiar to everyone. Typically, such a breakdown occurs at the most inopportune moment, for example, when you urgently need to print an important document. What should I do to correct the situation? You will find the answer to this question in this article.

Before proceeding to repair the device, you need to find out why the printer does not print. There are three groups of problems that affect the operation of this unit. Among them:

  • Problems in the software that is responsible for printer settings in the Windows operating system;
  • Problems in the CISS (the system responsible for the continuous supply of ink) or cartridge failure;
  • Problems affecting the hardware of the printing device.

The first group of problems occurs most often. Software glitches are quite easy to identify and fix yourself. It is not always possible to fix problems from the second group at home. As a rule, this kind of breakdown is solved by purchasing a new cartridge. It is unlikely that you will be able to solve problems from the third group on your own. Therefore, to repair the printer, you will have to contact a service center. The exception is typical problems such as cable damage, paper creases, etc. You can solve such problems yourself.

Software

To make sure that the root of the problem lies in the software, you need to try connecting the printer to another device. Try different types of connection: via USB port or wireless connection. If the printer works with the new device, then the problem is in the software.

Installing drivers

What should I do to fix the problem? First of all, you need to look at the “Device Manager”. To launch this dialog, click on the Win + R combination, which will launch the “Run” system utility. After that, enter devmgmt.msc in the window and click on “OK”. This will launch a new dialog that displays all the devices connected to the computer. However, we are interested in the “Printers” item. Find this tab among the list of devices.

What to do if the computer does not see the printer? If in the “Device Manager” there is no tab responsible for the printing device (or there is a yellow icon next to it), then to solve the problem it is enough to install the appropriate driver on the PC. To do this, you can use the Windows Update system utility. If this failed to solve the problem and the PC still does not see the network printer, then you will have to look for drivers on the manufacturer’s official website.

Starting the service

If the computer sees the device, but the printer does not print, you need to visit the “Services” menu. To do this, activate the services.msc command through “Run”. In the dialog that appears, find the “Print Manager” service. Make sure this process is running.

If the service is deactivated, then this must be corrected. Right-click on the process properties. In the window next to the “Startup type” parameter, set the option to “Automatic”. For the changes to take effect, click on “Run”.

Other software problems

Couldn't resolve the problem? In this case, launch the menu called “Settings”. You can find it through the search bar in Start. There, go to the “Devices” section and click on the item responsible for printers and scanners. A new dialog will be launched, which displays a list of printing machines that are currently connected to the PC. In the list, find the device with which you are having problems. After that, click on “Open Queue”.

Important! If the printer is not in the list, this means that it is not connected. Check the cable for damage and make sure the plug is firmly seated in the port.

Make sure there are no hung processes. The printer may be stuck on one task and is unable to print a new document. In this case, remove the hung process from the queue. After this, you can print another file. Additionally, open the tab called “Printer”. There you should pay attention to the following:

  • See if the default printer is used. If not, then perhaps the computer is using a virtual printer, which, instead of printing, converts a document of one format to another.
  • Pay attention to the “Pause printing” and “Work offline” items. If the printing machine goes offline on its own, this indicates problems with communication or power supply.
  • Clear the print queue if the printer is overloaded with tasks.

Problems with CISS, cartridge, dye

Dyes tend to run out. And if the printer does not have ink, then it will physically not be able to print your document or image. However, the dye does not disappear overnight. This is usually indicated by a number of factors: pale colors, poor-quality printing of some fragments, stripes, etc. If you have observed similar problems, and now the printer has stopped working altogether, then you need to replace the ink. However, it also happens that the printing machine stops functioning even with normal ink levels. There may be several reasons for this phenomenon.

The first is blockage of the print head with an air lock or a dried drop of ink. A similar ailment often occurs during prolonged use of an inkjet printer. Fixing the problem is quite simple. You just need to clean the outlet holes (nozzles). For this, the printer has a special function, which can be activated using proprietary software.

When using the cleaning function, the pump, which is located inside the printing machine, drives ink through the nozzles under high pressure. Thanks to this, the air pocket or paint clot that has clogged the head comes out. Some very cheap printers are not equipped with a pump. Therefore, cleaning must be done manually.

Printing problems can also occur due to improper installation, dirty cartridges, or incorrect refilling technology. This is usually indicated by the fact that the printer prints in one color or that multi-colored blots appear on the sheet.

If the printer produces a blank white sheet as a print result, this indicates that the cartridge is incompatible with your printer model. Sometimes this problem can be solved by flashing it. If it was not possible to change the firmware, then you need to purchase new, suitable components for the printing device.

Hardware failures

Many people believe that due to a hardware failure, the printer completely stops functioning. But this is just a common misconception. The following problems may indicate a hardware failure:

  • The device prints in only one color. In this case, the cartridge is fully functional, there is also paint;
  • The document or images are printed in fragments;
  • Toner does not adhere to sheets;
  • The device, instead of one sheet, prints several;
  • The printer does not accept sheets of paper from the slot.

Unfortunately, it is impossible to fix a hardware failure at home without specialized knowledge and tools. All you can do is clean the printer from visible dirt and check that the cartridge is installed correctly. Therefore, most likely you will have to contact a service center or buy a new device.

Conclusion

In the article we talked about what to do if the printer does not work if it is connected. As you can see, there are a lot of factors that affect the correct operation of the printing machine. If your device fails and refuses to work, then first of all you need to determine the cause of the problem. After this, you need to try to fix the damage. As a rule, the reasons why a printer does not work are quite commonplace. In such situations, you can repair the unit yourself at home. If the printer has a serious hardware failure, then you need to take it to a service center or buy a new device.

Your local printer does not print.
Why won't my local printer print? The reasons for this can be very different, and now we will try to sort out most of them. And also answer the question of what to do if the printer stops printing. Although just recently everything was working fine.

Why did the printer stop printing and what should I do?

So, let's start with one important point. It doesn’t matter what brand your printer is, be it HP (Hewlett-Packard), Canon (Canon), Samsung (Samsung), Epson (Epson), Ricoh (Rikosh), Lexmark (Lexmark) or any other brand. The printing technology can be inkjet or laser; there is no fundamental difference - we will try to talk about common faults. That is why this publication can be useful to you in solving your problem. Let's start with Windows errors, and continue with problems with the printer driver and print service. Now we will only talk about software errors and let’s hope that your printer does not have any mechanical failures.

The printer does not print from the computer

It also doesn’t matter what version of the Windows operating system you have installed, the procedure for checking the printer’s operation is universal. If there is a printing error when you send a document for printing, a printer icon with a question mark appears in the system tray. And also a message pops up: “This document could not be printed.”

First of all, you need to check the operation of the printer itself. Check whether there is paper, whether it is inserted all the way; some printers have a paper presence sensor, and if it does not work, then printing does not start. Is it turned on, is the error indicator blinking? Print a test page using the button on the printer (if it doesn’t print, then the problem is in the printer itself). Different printers activate test page printing differently. To do this, you need to press two buttons on the printer (as a rule, these are the continue and cancel buttons or cancel and the power button, mostly on inkjet printers) and hold for a few seconds, 3-5 seconds, and release the buttons. After this, the test page should begin printing. Example of a test page printed by an HP LaserJet 2200 printer.

Remove and replace the cartridge, turn off and turn on the printer again.
After switching on, it should work a little and pass an internal test (make some noise). If everything is fine, the ready indicator (usually green) should be constantly on. If these steps do not help and the printer does not print a test page, or does not respond to any actions at all, you should check the power cord and its connection to the printer. If possible, test the power cord on another device to ensure that the cord is not faulty.
If it prints a test page, then the printer itself is working. But it does not print documents sent from the computer, then you need to do the following to get the printer working again:
— Check if your USB is working (for example, a flash drive is detected normally in the system and allows you to work with it). If there are problems, then you need to reinstall the motherboard chipset driver.
— Check the USB cable, it could have moved away from the printer or computer system unit, or it could have just been chewed by your favorite cat. Therefore, it is better to test the USB cable on another device. For example, connect a scanner or try connecting another USB cable. HP printers are very picky about the length of the USB cable, you can try a shorter cable.
— Check which printer the documents are sent to for printing from the program. If there is more than one printer installed on the system and you are sending to another printer that is not connected. Select the default printer that you want to print on at the moment. And pay attention to which printer you send to print from the program.

Check if the “Pause printing” or “Work offline” checkbox is unchecked.

Canceling a print pause is done as follows.

Start → Devices and Printers (In Windows 7), and in Windows XP Start → Printers and Faxes

If you have one printer icon, and not several. Right-click on the printer on which you want to print, go to the “Printer” menu and uncheck (uncheck) “Pause printing”, if there is one.

If the print job contains any unnecessary documents, you need to clear the print queue.

Printer → “Clear print queue”

If clearing the print queue does not help or does not clear, you should delete the contents in the folder where the print jobs are located.

To do this, open the folder C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and delete the contents. After that, restart Print Manager.

How to do this: On “My Computer,” right-click and select “Manage” from the menu that opens.

After that, in the window that opens, click on “Services and Applications”. Then go to “Services” and find the “Print Manager” service. We select it and restart it (if it was not running, then this was the reason that the printer did not print from the computer).

Then in the Printers and Faxes window, refresh the window, press the F5 button on your keyboard. After this, the print queue will be cleared.

The local printer still does not print.

Let's move on to more stringent measures. Remove the printer via the menu. Right-click on the printer icon and select “Delete” or “Delete device” depending on the version of Windows and delete the printer. Disconnect the USB cable from the system unit and restart the computer. After booting the computer, connect the USB cable to another USB connector. The installation wizard should appear. If it does not appear, then open the menu:

Start → Settings → Printers and Faxes

And check if the printer is installed automatically. If not, install it manually using the installation wizard. To do this, on the “Printers and Faxes” tab, click “Add a printer” → “Add a local printer”

select the interface through which your printer is connected, most often it is “USB001 (Virtual Printer Port for USB)”, click “Next”,

In the next window, select the driver for our printer. On the left side of the window, select the printer manufacturer, and on the right side, select the printer model and click next.

In the next window, you can change the name of the printer, for example to “My Printer,” but you can leave it as is and click Next.

The driver is being installed.

The next final window allows you to print a test page. And all that remains is to click “Done”.

Your printer should then print. I wish you not to say any more words to me .

Today we will try to answer the following question: why the printer does not print and what to do about the situation that has arisen. There can be a lot of reasons for this, related either to technical problems with the device, which can be easily fixed manually, or to the Windows software. I will look at several possible problems and discuss in detail how to solve each of them.

The next step is to ensure that the printer drivers are installed correctly. At this point, it is best to completely remove the printer and disconnect it from the computer. You can then reinstall the printer using the latest drivers, following the initial printer setup procedures.

Unless certain applications are unable to print, the problem is likely with the application. Check the printer configuration in this application. If the problem persists, you may need to reinstall this application. When your printer won't print, sometimes you will try to search for basic printer troubleshooting without any results.

Looking ahead, I want to say that if your printer does not print: Epson, HP, Canon, Samsung or any other printer model and you think that the problem is in your printer model, then most likely this is a mistaken opinion. Of course, there are some printer models that require an individual approach, but there are very few such printers. Therefore, this instruction will most likely help you find the problematic part in today's situation.

The printer does not work: check the print head

Instead of a freshly printed page sitting in the printer tray, all you see is the dock icon for your printer bouncing up and down. This dock icon represents your printer's queue. You can also see a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark on the icon. This warning indicates that the printing process has failed. The queue window should open and, fortunately, contain a message that describes why the print failed. If the message is related to your tray or ink levels, follow the steps above to resolve these issues.

Also at this stage you need to check the sheets in the printer. Try taking some of them out if you've put in too much. You need to try to push them a little deeper into the printer's receiving hole. If this does not help, then move the sheets either all the way to the right or to the left. The tray still doesn't want to accept A4? Turn off the device, restart your computer, then connect everything again. Still no results? So the situation is actually serious. Let's find out!

If the message offers other clear advice, follow it. If other old print jobs are also listed, delete them as well. When you do this, the status message in the queue window should say "Printer ready." As an additional precaution, turn the printer off and on again. This "resets" the printer, potentially correcting any problems with the printer. Now go back to your app and try printing again.

The messages in this magazine, although often not understood by mere mortals, sometimes point to the exact cause of your problem. For example, the magazine once discovered an incorrectly installed ink cartridge in my inkjet printer. Instead, when you go to the Queue window, the status message seems to be stuck at Connecting. We've already covered the simple reason for this: the printer is not turned on.

Checking Windows Settings

First, let's check whether this device is disabled on the computer itself. Go to “Start” - “Devices and Printers”. In the window that appears, look for your printer model and pay attention to the printer icon; if it is discolored, so to speak, then you need to check the contacts. Because this indicates that drivers are installed on the computer, but the computer does not see this device.

Also check that your printer is connected correctly and that there is any paper jam. If your printer is in some kind of "offline" state, turn it off and on again. Preventing problems with a shared printer. If you're sharing a printer over a network, you'll need to perform some other quick checks. Make sure the Printer Sharing option is enabled here. Troubleshoot wireless problems. For example, if you accidentally connect to a network that isn't your neighbor's, your printer won't show up.

More generally, make sure your wireless network is functioning properly. To do this, launch the system profiler and go to the appropriate section to connect your printer. Important! However, topics ordered by probability evidence can move to any point of interest in this article.

You must also make sure that the printer on which you are going to print the document is the default device. This is done as follows: go to the same “Devices and Printers” in the “Start” menu, there should be a green check mark on the icon at the bottom left. If there is no checkmark, then right-click on the desired printer and select “Set as default”.

When you try to print, you receive a "Unavailable" or "Document Error" error message. Print failed. Offer. Question: Do you see the port listed? Firewalls are usually the main culprit in preventing communication with the printer. Working with multiple firewalls is especially problematic. This table provides links to topics that help identify inkjet printer driver processes that may be flagged or quarantined in a firewall application.

Jobs are loaded into the print queue; Possibly, or Processes blocked by firewall. The print job has cleared the print queue. This means that the print queue icon has disappeared from the taskbar notification area, but the printer is holding the job until the necessary steps have been taken to return the printer to a ready state.

If none of the above has any effect on solving the problem of why the printer does not print from a computer or laptop, then let’s try to restart the print manager. Before starting the procedure, disconnect all connecting wires from the printer. Now go to “Start” - “Control Panel” - “System and Security” - “Administrative Tools”. Double click on “Services”. Find “Print Manager” in the list and go to properties using the right mouse button.

If not, take the necessary actions to return it to the required status. The printer or print queue is paused and the print queue icon remains in the taskbar notification area. Explanation: This is usually an end user error. Tip: Dragging your mouse over the print queue icon in the notification area will show the pending document.

Video: Printer does not print

First try clearing the print queue and print again. for further instructions. If you can't clear the print queue, seek additional help. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer software. Please be near your computer and printer if a technician asks you to perform a task on one of these devices.

On the “General” tab, opposite the “Startup type” item should be set to “Automatic”. If it's wrong, correct it. Also in the “Status” the “Stop” button should be active; if this is not the case, then click on the “Run” button and save the changes by clicking on “OK”. Now again right-click on the name of the “Print Spooler” service and find the inscription “Run”. Click it. Is there no such inscription? It means everything is in order and you did everything right.

In a standard network printing environment, when a user prints from an application, the job is sent directly to the printer and begins printing immediately. In some environments, it may be appropriate to place the job on hold until it prints.

In a secure printing environment, jobs are printed only when the user reaches the print area and verifies their identity. This ensures that the user has to collect the job and other users can "accidentally" collect the document. In some organizations, it may be appropriate to carry out assignments until they are approved by the selected individuals. A good example would be a teacher approving printing on an expensive color printer.

  • Secure printing.
  • Approved seal.
This usually takes the form of: - a dedicated computer terminal located near the printers, but other methods of interaction include access through a browser interface.

Have you installed printer drivers?

So, your printer still doesn’t print, you don’t know what to do? If you still do not have printer drivers installed, immediately install them from the disk included in the kit. You saw above that in my case everything is fine with the drivers, but if you don’t see the printer at all, then most likely the problem is in the drivers.

These scripts describe the steps required to configure and manage a queue. Please do not use this for support requests. Determine if you have been able to print to this printer in the past or if it is a printer you have never printed to.

Hardware check

Restart your computer: This is the most common solution for a network connection timeout. A window will appear with a list of network printers. . If you don't see the window above, or if you still can't print, make sure your computer is actually connected to the network.

Sometimes there are problems even with installed drivers! If you have installed the drivers, but the printer still does not print, then you need to remove the driver from the printer and reinstall it. This problem occurs very often, so it should not be ignored.

Print queue

As an option, I can also suggest clearing the print queue. To do this, go to the already familiar “Devices and Printers” located in “Start”. Then right-click on our printer and select “View Print Queue”. We delete absolutely everything that is in the window that appears; if it is empty, just close it, this is clearly not the problem.

If one of the above steps is not successful, you have a network connection issue that must be resolved before you can use network resources such as printers, domains, etc. Determine whether other computers or individuals can print to this printer.

At this point, it's worth trying to add the network printer again.

  • Go to Device Manager.
  • The printer should appear under Printers in Device Manager.
If your printer is not detected and does not appear in the Print & Fax list. When printing mailings, it's more important than ever that you can print accurately on your label sheet, plain paper or envelope. If you're having trouble printing accurately, choose one of the options below to learn how to solve the most common printing problems.

If the queue is not deleted, then you need to restart the computer. After that, go to this window again and try to delete the queue. It is possible that these manipulations will lead to nothing. Then disconnect all wires from the computer that relate to the printer and try cleaning.

For more help please. We have found that printing issues for label sheets primarily occur in the following areas. Nothing is printing: In this case, we recommend using the Print Example button to troubleshoot the problem. Using the sample print will not debit your postage balance so you can use it as many times as you want until you are able to print using the software. If your printer can print from another program, please contact support at the number above. If the printer cannot print from any program, first make sure the printer is turned on. Before printing the actual postage, first print out the sample onto a blank piece of paper. Place the printed sheet in front of the label sheet and then hold the sheets up to the light to ensure the positioning is correct. Load the label sheet through the printer as little as possible as it degrades due to the high temperature of the printer. When using a network printer, use the bypass tray to prevent others from printing on your label sheets.

  • If this does not solve your problem, please contact support at the number above.
  • You should find the setting under the Effects tab.
  • Change the media type to labels.
To print postage directly onto envelopes, you first need.

Doesn't print in a certain program or the problem is in the ports

For example, you want to print a MS Word document and everything freezes (this is a problem), then you need to open another program and try to print any document from it. To do this, open it, type a few letters in this program and print.

If the printer prints, then the problem is in the program. You will need to remove it and reinstall it. If there was no printing, then most likely the problem is in the printer.

If you are unable to successfully print your test envelope mailer, we suggest contacting support at the number above for further assistance. With the number of printers available today, we find that many have difficulty with envelopes, but we can quickly fix this problem over the phone. If you were able to set up your printer but are still having printing issues, we find that printing issues for envelopes mostly occur in the following areas.

The printer suddenly stopped working: the problem is paper

Make sure the printer you want to use is selected in the Name drop-down list. On the General tab, make sure that “Prompt for printer settings with every print” is checked. If you frequently receive these error messages, here are some troubleshooting steps that may help you.

Another pitfall that we should tell you about is the incorrect use of the port. To check this, let's go to Devices and Printers again. Right-click on the device we are interested in and select “Properties”. On the “Ports” tab, carefully look at the set value. It should be of the USB type; if the wrong port is used, select the appropriate one from the list. Save your changes and close all windows. Now disconnect the printer from the computer for a couple of seconds and connect it again. Everything should work.

The printer does not print, user intervention is required

The message will read something like this. Your printer needs your attention. The printer requires user intervention. Unplug the power cord from the printer and also from the power source. In the meantime, restart your computer. Once the computer boots up to your desktop, plug the cord into the power source on the wall and then into the back of the printer, then turn on the printer.

It removes print processors and monitors from other manufacturers. It also collects basic information about the print spooler and computer, such as print driver information, printers, underlying networks, and failover clustering, and suggests various cleanup methods. To open the built-in printer troubleshooter, open the Run box, type the following, and press Enter.

For inexperienced users, I remind you: when printing a document, in any program, pay attention to which printer you are sending this document to. Sometimes, users choose the wrong printer that they need.

That's all I wanted to tell you. I sincerely hope that one of the methods I described helped you solve your printer printing problem.

If the Spoolsv.exe application error appears on your device:

Diagnosing the reason why a printer does not print is quite difficult, since there are currently a huge number of different brands of printers on sale, and each of them may have different problems.

How can I find out why the printer is not printing?

The first step is to make sure that the printer is plugged in and connected to the computer in accordance with all manufacturer recommendations.

The next step is to check the printer driver. It may be outdated, and if you reinstall the driver, the printing problems may also disappear. This often happens when the question arises about why an hp printer does not print - this is their “occupational disease”.

The Windows Update Web site, which identifies hardware connected to your computer and notifies you of new drivers, can help you find the latest printer driver.

  1. To launch Windows Update, click the Start button, then All Programs, then Windows Update.
  2. Click “Check for updates” in the left panel and wait while Windows searches for the latest updates.
  3. If updates are still found, click “Install updates.” If these actions can be performed by a person with administrator rights, enter the login and password in the authorization request window that appears.

There is a chance that a new driver exists even if it is not listed in the update list: it is possible that it has not yet been provided to Windows by the manufacturer.

Many Canon or HP printer manufacturers list current drivers in sections of their websites. You can download the required driver by following the manufacturer's instructions.

Why does the printer print in stripes?

It's probably a cartridge issue that needs to be replaced. This often happens when an early model Canon printer does not print. You need to look at the print queue information, it may say that the toner is low on ink. The printer itself may have fields or windows showing the status of the toner or ink.

We will consider possible situations in more detail below. By the way, the same reasons may exist if the printer prints blank sheets.

There may also be problems with the software connection to the printer. In case there is no connection between the computer and the printer, you need to follow the steps below:

  1. Disconnect the computer from the network, disconnect the cable from the printer and connect it again.
  2. Connect your computer to the network and try to print any document.
  3. If the problem persists, try replacing the USB cable from the printer and repeat steps 1 and 2.

When the printer does not print black

If an hp printer (no matter which one: inkjet or laser) begins to print pale and blurry or no black color at all, and the cartridge is still full, then you need to do the following:

  1. For an inkjet printer: remove all cartridges and clean all contacts with a cotton swab moistened with warm water. This will improve the exchange of information between the cartridge and the printer.
  2. For a laser printer: remove the cartridge and shake it in the horizontal and vertical planes. This will ensure that the toner is evenly distributed throughout the entire surface of the cartridge.

Dark line when printing with a Canon printer

Try changing the cartridge, even if it is completely new, as it may be defective, or refill it. If all these steps do not bring the desired result, and a dark stripe or gray background is present when printing, this indicates that the toner is of poor quality.

If the cartridge is not new and has been refilled several times, most likely its parts are faulty: the photoconductor or the roller. In addition to these parts, there are others that can wear out during operation and affect the print quality, so it is better to invite specialists to replace worn parts.

Diagnosing printing problems is very difficult for a non-specialist. Therefore, it is recommended to check everything in the order outlined above. And the problem itself, as you can see, is quite easy to fix. You don't have to go to a repair shop to do this.

This entry is not a panacea for all cases when an HP or Canon printer does not want to print from a computer, a word document or photos. It will help - great, no - you will have to look for other solutions.

Several options are described here. Of course, you don’t need to be told that if the problem is technical, then without the service no one will be able to help you remotely.

Printers sometimes give the impression that they have a life of their own. The drivers are installed correctly, the ink is full, everything was working 5 minutes ago, and suddenly the equipment refused to print.

There are no print jobs and old ones are in the queue and cannot be deleted. What to do about it?

I think everyone has had a problem before. Paradoxically, the worst problem is equipment failure, or more precisely, the lack of response to our commands.

Often the printer simply does not want to print, and the job in the print list is blocked and does not disappear, despite the fact that we cancel it.

What to do if the printer does not respond to our commands...

Of course, we can reinstall the drivers, restart the computer again, or try to print another file.

Only, if this does not help, try resetting the “Print Buffer” service, which is responsible for capturing print jobs and sending them to the printer.

To do this, turn off the printer and go to the control panel (Start -> Control Panel). Then go to the “System and Security” -> “Administration” -> “Services” section.

If you wish, you can press the Windows + R key combination and enter "services.msc".

The maintenance window will appear. In the list on the right we are looking for the “Print Manager” service. Right-click on the service and select Restart. The service will now be stopped and then turned back on.

When you click on the print icon on the taskbar, you will notice that all the paused print jobs have disappeared from the list and the list will now be clear.

Now let's turn on the printer again and try to print something. It should now work without problems.

What to do if the printer does not want to print - the first step

Check the connection between the printer and computer: make sure they are turned on and both ends of the USB cable are inserted correctly into the sockets.

  1. Try unplugging both ends of the USB cable and plugging them back in. Disconnect the printer and computer, and then connect them again;
  2. If possible, use a different USB port;
  3. If you are using a USB hub, unplug it and connect the printer directly to your computer. For some USB hub models, the printer may not be detected correctly;
  4. Use a USB cable less than 6 feet (2 m) in length;
  5. if possible, try using a different USB cable;
  6. If you are using a network model, make sure that the USB cable is not accidentally connected to the LAN port instead of the USB port.

If you are using P-touch Editor Lite (PT-2430, PT-P700, PT-P750W, QL-700), check whether Editor Lite mode is turned off.

  • Make sure the mode switch on the back of the printer labeled P-touch is set to “E”.
  • If the Editor Lite light is on, press and hold the Editor Lite button until the light turns off.

What to do if the printer does not want to print - step two

Check the driver. If you don't know how to open the folder, follow these steps: Click Start => Control Panel => Hardware and Sound => Printers.

Now make sure it is registered on your computer. If not, install the driver.

Make sure the printer is ready to use. If the status does not change even after turning it on, reinstall the driver.

If you see drivers with almost identical names, such as "Brother XX-XXXX" and "Brother XX-XXXX", then you may have many devices of the same model connected to the same computer, but you can only print to one of them.

Make sure there are no documents waiting to be printed. If you send a print job from your computer and it is interrupted or incomplete for some reason, the job may become stuck in the print queue and the printer stops responding.

Delete all print jobs and try again. On Windows: Open the printer folder and double-click your printer icon, then select Printer -> Cancel All Documents -> Yes.

On Mac OS X: Click Open Print Queue and select the print job you want to delete. Click the "Delete" button.

It is possible that the computer's operating system has lost its properties and requires a reboot. Try restarting your computer.

Before restarting your computer, close all running applications, save all data, and turn off the printer. After restarting your computer, turn everything back on.

If the problem persists after following the steps above, try the next solution.

The driver may not be installed correctly. Uninstall it using the driver uninstaller and then reinstall it.

Reasons - why the printer does not want to print

Printers may refuse to print at the least expected moment. What to do in such a situation?

First of all, you shouldn’t immediately assume that it’s time to buy new equipment.

It may be a simple glitch that will take some time to remove, and then it may work for a long time.

Here are the most common problems, along with some ways to solve them.

The printer does not print - what else can you do?

If the printer does not print, there could be several reasons. Let's start with the basics, i.e. check if it has paper in the feeder, its cartridge is not exhausted or someone has disconnected it from the computer/laptop or company network.

If it's networked (works over wifi), you can try connecting it with a USB cable and see if it works.

For some applications, this may be because they have "virtual printers" that are installed by default from many programs once they are installed.

Go to the “Control Panel”, open the section with printers and see which one is installed by default.

If virtual, then change it to selected by right-clicking it and selecting this option from the context menu.

Disable automatic default setting for Windows printer. Left click on the printer you want to set as default and set it.

If it's already installed and you're still not printing, you can use the troubleshooter (varies by model - see instructions).

There is also nothing to prevent you from printing a test page. If you want to print something from Apple devices such as iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch, the printer must not only support Wi-Fi, but also support AirPrint.

You'll also need the Printer Pro app, designed for printing on Apple devices. For Android smartphones and tablets, you can print using Google Cloud Print.

Once installed on your mobile device, open the Chrome browser on your computer, open Settings, select Show advanced options, and click Manage with Google Cloud Print.

Select the option to add a printer and select the one you want to use. Now you can easily print from your Android mobile device.

Documents and photos do not print correctly

If your printed word document is "moving" on a piece of paper and has strange proportions, before printing you should go to the print settings and select options such as print orientation, adjust to a given page size, etc.

This will allow you to perfectly match the document to the paper you are using. To print graphics and photos in Windows Explorer, right-click on the selected file.

From the context menu, select the Print option. A print window will appear where you can select document-like options, such as paper size, fit, as well as the dimensions of the photo after printing, its quality, etc.

Poor print quality

If the print quality is poor and the colors are not very clear, check the amount of ink in the cartridges.

When there is not enough ink, it is worth cleaning the print heads (depending on the printing device itself).

This option is found in the control application, and many devices also have this feature on the chassis interface.

If you don’t know where they are, look at the instructions for your model (if you’ve lost them, there’s almost always an electronic version online). Good luck.
