In this article we will figure out where to download the VirtueMart component, how to install it, how to Russify it and, most importantly, how to make sure that with subsequent updates all the changes you make to the display templates of categories, products, and other things are not lost.

Installing VirtueMart 3

So let's get started. First, we need to download the latest version of the VirtueMart 3 component. I recommend always downloading everything from the official developer sites. This will protect ourselves from the presence of malicious code in component files.

We save the latest version of the VirtueMart 3 online store component to our computer by clicking on the link. After downloading the file, unpack the archive.

Now through the extension manager Joomla! install the online store components in the following order:

  1. VirtueMart 3 component
  2. VirtueMart 3 AIO Component
  3. TCPDF Component

After installing the VirtueMart online store, you need to Russify it. To do this, download the Russian localization from this link and install it through the Joomla extension manager!

This completes the installation of the VirtueMart 3 online store component. Next, we will tell you how to prepare your online store for subsequent component updates without losing the changes made.

Preparing VirtueMart 3 for updates

In the process of creating your online store, you will probably want to change the appearance of the templates for displaying products, categories, manufacturers, etc. However, when updating a component, these changes may be lost. What should I do?

After each update, do I need to re-make previously made template changes? It seems to me that this is too irrational.

Don't update the component? This is not correct from a security point of view, because... In updates, developers fix identified vulnerabilities or add new functions.

Everything is much simpler!

It is necessary to prepare the component for changes. To do this you need to follow a few simple steps.

  1. Making a backup copy of the site
  2. Go to the following path: and create a folder there with the name com_virtuemart
  3. Go to the folder your_site/components/com_virtuemart/views/ and copy the contents of the folder into the folder created earlier in the directory com_virtuemart, while the contents of the folder tmpl needs to be moved to the parent folder
  4. Go to the folder your_site/components/com_virtuemart/ and copy the folder sublayouts V your_site/templates/your_template/html/com_virtuemart/

So, in this article we figured out how to install the VirtueMart 3 online store component and how to prepare it for subsequent updates.

Today Virtuemart is one of the most popular free components for creating online stores. This is due to the ease of its installation and the great capabilities it has.

More about Virtuemart

The VirtueMart online store component is a completely free program, compatible with Joomla versions from 1.5 and 2.5, and now Joomla 3.x. Moreover, on the Internet you can find the component itself in Russian, and even ready-made website templates with a built-in VirtueMart extension. This is due to the great popularity of this module, which also led to the emergence of a large number of free and paid add-ons for it. It should also be noted that there are numerous forums where webmasters discuss the VirtueMart component and find answers to many questions about it, which helps solve emerging problems.

In this regard, even a not very experienced webmaster will be able to set up an online store in full accordance with his desires and needs. That is, here you can not limit yourself to just the basic version of the component offered by its developers. And one more feature is the ability to disable the sales mode on the site, after which it can turn from a store into a regular catalogue. Some webmasters initially use VirtueMart just as a directory.

With each new version, the VirtueMart 2 component gains power and versatility. For six months, the VirtueMart community has been actively working to create a new version of the component.

A number of third-party developers took part in creating extensions and layouts for VirtueMart 2. You can view the results of their work by following these links (,).

Safety:

Taxes:

Regarding taxes, “VAT tax” was introduced, which allows taxes to be calculated on the final cost. The developers have improved the product editor, the most frequently opened view. The cost of the product is calculated taking into account taxes, discounts and the final price. During development, too noticeable inconsistencies in the functioning of the component were also eliminated.

Changes have been made to the extension system:

The developers of the component wanted to maintain compatibility with previous versions, but after testing some third-party plugins, they became convinced that there was no guarantee of their correct operation, so when using third-party plugins, you must test them yourself or contact a technical specialist.

Future plans:

In the future, the developers plan to add several prices to the buyer group, make a separate layout for each type of product, install an order editor and several sellers, as well as introduce automatic installation for the system, increase space for VirtueMart 2 extensions and connect core plugins with their own plugins.

The component is based on the functional Joomla MVC framework.

Please note that the feature information was provided by users, which does not indicate that these features will be available in the next version.

Useful innovations:

The ability to send e-mails to customers when the order status changes or the product goes on the waiting list.
Tax calculation using the new "VAT tax" type.
After setting the calculation rules and the final price, the base price is rewritten.
When you enter “-1” in the settings, currency rounding is enabled.
Rounding settings apply to the cart.
Ability to select order status in settings to send an invoice.
Ability to add a buyer to various purchasing groups.
The seller's address is added to the email containing the order.
Ability to configure child items to display parent product options.
Improving the layout, for example, introducing buttons like “back to product list.”
More "product_s_desc","metadesc, "product_sku" and valid_search_fields ="product_name"" have been entered.
Introduced a new field type in customer fields called date picker.
Types of plugins, for example, captcha, have been introduced into the purchasing fields.

Corrections in the functioning of the component:

The developers eliminated strict warning standards.
The code has been cleaned up.
Improved router performance during checkout.
Improved storage and processing of customer addresses – billing and delivery.
A check of user groups has been introduced to hide products that are not included in extended groups.

Error notifications have been improved.
The developers have fixed FE pagination.
We made adjustments to the “ask a question” system.
The vmJsApi::css, vmJsApi::js functions have been implemented to prevent repeated loading of the same library.
Ability to check Authorize.net access to the curl_exec function.
Added plugin options.

Many of you have probably thought more than once about creating an online store? So, to achieve this goal, you only need a bunch of Joomla and Virtuemart. Virtuemart- this is the best Joomla component for creating an online store. Its main advantage is that it is completely free, with the exception of some individual modules (which, by the way, you can easily do without). In terms of capabilities and functionality, the Virtuemart component is practically not inferior to its paid counterparts. Moreover, it is constantly being improved and updated, getting rid of security holes and other errors and shortcomings.

You can download Virtuemart from the official website Virtuemart.net, and the crack needs to be found on the virtuemart forum page dev.virtuemart.net/projects/virtuemart/files(the file is called Language Pack for VirtueMart) In this article we will look at Virtuemart installation, his initial setup and Russification.

Installing Virtuemart on Joomla

When downloading an archive with a component, the first thing you need to do is unzip it, since the archive contains many more different modules and plugins to expand the functionality of the store. The installation must be carried out in the same way as installing other extensions on the joomla website. If you are installing the Virtuemart store component on local hosting, please note that the component file weighs more than two megabytes and cannot be installed using the standard method. The archive will need to be unzipped and uploaded to the “tmp” folder on the server, and then add the component name in the second line:

If your site is on shared hosting, then in the first window (“Upload file from package”) you just need to select the file com_virtuemart_1.1.8. At the time of writing, the latest version of the component is 1.1.8, so I will write about this version in this article. After Virtuemart is installed on your website, a window will open in which you will be offered a choice whether to install trial product categories on the site or not. I recommend installing it, as we can quickly figure out creating categories and adding products. To add demo products, click "install SAMPLE DATA":

All! Now the Virtuemart online store component is completely installed on the joomla site. Along with the component, you also installed demo data that will be displayed on the site after creating the desired menu item.

Adding a store to the main page of a site on Joomla

Before we start studying the store settings, we need to create an item in the menu that will be responsible for displaying products on the Joomla website. You can read about how to add a new item to the menu in this article, but I will still write about it in detail again. Go to the administrative panel in "All menu">>"Main menu". You will see a list of items that are displayed on the site. You can create a new item called “Store” or make a store on the main page of the site. Let's first make it on the main page. To do this, select "Home" and click "Edit" at the top right. The following window will open in which you need to click “Change type”:

In the list of menu types that opens, you need to find and select Virtuemart:

The main page now displays a list of demo product categories and a brief description of the store at the top of the page. This is all very good. But there is one drawback - there is no Russian language! For Russification Virtuemart we will also need to do some work.

Russification Virtuemart

By downloading the Russifier archive from the link indicated at the beginning of the post, you will receive a full Russification of the admin panel and the front part of the site. To install the cracker, you need to follow this path YOUR_SITE/administrator/components/com_virtuemart/languages. There are many folders there that we need to replace or supplement with those files that are in the Virtuemart language pack. If you wish, you can delete unnecessary language files and leave only the one you need. It is worth noting that the language that is set in the Joomla settings will be enabled, that is, if you have English joomla, then virtuemart will also remain in English.

Hello dear blog readers. This article is the first in the "" category. In it I will tell you in detail, how to install and Russify the Virtuemart component on Joomla 1.5. All necessary files will also be posted, such as the Virtuemart 1.1.6 distribution and the crack for Virtuemart 1.1.6.

Installing VirtueMart on Joomla. Russification Virtuemart

First of all, we need to download the latest stable version of the Virtuemart component. At the moment this is Virtuemart 1.1.6. To download the component go to official site Virtuemart in the Downloads tab and click on the Complete Package link. Next we need to download the language pack for Virtuemart. Unfortunately, at the time of writing there was no language pack for Virtuemart 1.1.6, but fortunately the language pack for version 1.1.4 works great on component version 1.1.6. To download the language pack, use this link. I would like to immediately draw your attention to the fact that the original language pack for Virtuemart contains more than 30 languages that you most likely will not need. To save your time and disk space on your website, I am posting my version of the component with a language pack that only contains Russian. To download the archive with the Virtuemart component and Russification, follow this link.

The next stage is installing the Virtuemart component on Joomla. If you don't have Joomla installed yet, then the first thing you need to do is install it. You can read more about this in the article "". If you have Joomla installed, then to install Virtuemart on Joomla you need to do the following:

  1. We go to the root of the Joomla site, look for a folder named “tmp” there and create another one inside with any name, for example, virtuemart. This is done so that you do not encounter errors when installing the component if you use Denwer as your working environment.
  2. Copy the Virtuemart component files to the “/tmp/virtuemart/” folder. You can find them in the archive com_virtuemart_1.1.6.j15.zip, which in turn is located in another archive VirtueMart_1.1.6-COMPLETE_PACKAGE.j15.zip, which you downloaded from the manufacturer’s website or from me.
  3. Go to “Administrative panel of the site – Extensions – Install/remove – Install from folder” and register path to Virtuemart component files. To do this, simply write immediately after “tmp” the name of your folder into which you unpacked the com_virtuemart_1.1.6.j15.zip archive. Let me remind you right away that after installing the Virtuemart component on Joomla you will need to remove the folder with the component files from the tmp folder, which is located in the root of the site. This is done so that files do not waste space, since they will no longer be needed.
  4. After specifying the path to the folder with the Virtuemart component files, click on the “Install” button. As a result, you will see the following window.

On this installation of the Virtuemart online store component on Joomla 1.5 completed. To go to the store view, click on the “Go directly to the Shop” button. If you want to download demo materials first, then click on the “Install SAMPLE DATA” button. I would like to note right away that if you download demo materials, you will then have to manually delete them, so immediately decide whether you want to do this or not.

Russification of the Virtuemart component

As you have already noticed, the installed Virtuemart component has English localization by default. In order to Russify Virtuemart you need to do the following.

  1. Download the Russification package. If you have not done this yet, then follow this link and download the language pack from the official website, or follow this link and download my version of the Virtuemart component with Russification.
  2. Unpack the archive Language_Pack_for_VirtueMart.zip if you are using the language pack from the official website, and Russian_language_for_VirtueMart.zip if you are using my version.
